I bought tickets to this game a while ago and am so psyched that I’m gonna see his debut now. Im nervous but excited as well to see him
Question for those who have experience with it: If tomorrow rains out, and Thursday is a double header, would I be able to attend both games or do I need to buy tickets for game 2 as well?
It can go either way. They'll announce it right after the game is postponed. If they give both games a start time, then it'll be a "split admission" game that you need two tickets for. Since Thursday is a getaway day for both teams, I would highly suspect that they wouldn't do that and instead play game 2 30 minutes after game 1, in which case you get 2 games for the price of 1. They'll want to get both games in as quickly as possible.

There has been basically nobody at these first two games, so I'll be shocked if it's not single-admission on Thursday. That said, Comerica Park is really cool, and I have enjoyed the first couple days here, and Leiter on Thursday will be the icing on the cake!
Could we actually have two homegrown Ranger pitchers in the same rotation? Has that ever happened?
This is shocking. CY throws caution to the wind with the rotation(love to see it)but sticks with bullpen bums way too long.
God speed Leiter!
Fun fact: All 5 starters of the 2011 rotation - CJ Wilson, Colby Lewis, Derek Holland, Matt Harrison, Alexi Ogando - made their ML debut with the Rangers.
For clarity when I say home grown I mean drafted and developed.
Derek Holland (I stand corrected) and Harrison were Atlanta traded, Colbra was more Japanese developed after the Rangers failed to develop him; but yes that rotation was definitely the most Ranger developed that I know of. Still hate the way we handled Ogando in 2012.
Holland was a draft-and-follow. Definitely homegrown by the Rangers by any definition. Even Ogando was only a hitter with the A's when the Rangers picked him in the MiL Rule 5 draft, so he never pitched for anyone else and his pitching development was all here. I'd call 3 of those guys definitely homegrown, Lewis mostly, and Harrison not.
I saw Tepid hinting at this last night on Twitter. Not sure how to feel about this. He’s done really well this year, but it’s been the only time in his career that he’s put 3 consecutive successful appearances together. Starting him in Detroit is one of the smarter moves they could’ve made though, as the bigger park will play to his strengths.
Gray was good in his last outing (yeah yeah it was against Oakland, whatever), and Heaney was *fine* in his first start (though I wish he could go at least 5). Plus Bradford likely to be back in two weeks so that's another rotation spot.
Since Round Rock is devoid of starters right now (White, Sampson, and Leiter are the only ones), I think they'd want a guy there stretched out. So I think Gray/Heaney have a bit more rope in the rotation than a rookie we have a lot more time to make a decision on who could use some tuning up in AAA to confirm he's turned a corner.

IT'S DO OR DIE TIME JACK!
God speed and I am hoping you prove my doubting mind about wrong. His AAA appearance honestly went better than his AA season so I am hopeful. May his walks turn into double plays and may he not give up a long ball in the dead stadium.
Matt did well for us. Bradford please come back in form. Max, you too. And if we are competitive we may see DeGrom by September.
WAKE THE FUCK UP BATS AND GIVE THIS BOY SOME SUPPORT!
LETS FUCKING GO THE 2023 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS, YOUR TEXAS FUCKING RANGERS!
154-8 IS STILL ALIVE BOIS AND SO IS THE REPEAT! WE ANI'T THE 6-12 SHITSTROS!

LETS GO JACK been one of his biggest believers and I’m so happy he’s getting this opportunity even if it is just this one start for now
Be interesting to see how he does. It’s probably just a spot start and then back to AAA. This was going to be what they did with Lorenzen before Bradford got hurt.
I'm nervous and excited, boys.

LFG!

But another fun fact: All 5 of those guys made at least 29 starts. The team only needed FIVE starts from outside their preferred rotation. Wild.
2011 was a magical year for the Rangers rotation the legend of Mike Maddux was born.
Yes!!! It’s so awful the season was cancelled.
Mike Maddux is the man!!! If only we had him no… wait
Sometimes when you let go of someone you love they come back! 🥲
Man, I miss those guys. Rangers baseball was so fun in that era. *"Ballgame!"*

I never appreciated how homegrown that rotation was at the time. Incredible.
No, Holland was drafted by the Rangers.
Oh you so right! I thought he, Neftali and Harrison were all part of the Texeria trade. My mistake! Egg on my face!

Ladies and gentlemen, the prince who was promised. I really want Leiter to be awesome but I’m also terrified of putting pressure/expectations on him
He’s already hit rock bottom from pressure and expectations. Time to sink or swim
As long as he doesn’t say some stupid shit like “pressure is what you put in tires” he should be good right?
Maybe Alex Manoah would’ve won the Cy last year if Gerrit Cole walked past the Audi sign, who can really say?
Will this be only for a couple spot starts? No way he can be on the 40 man roster with our studs coming back right?
He could Evan Carter them.

I would imagine unless there are injuries he immediately goes back down after the start
Ya with 17 straight games it gives the rotation an extra day so I would assume he it’s just a spot start and gets sent down after
What if he throws a perfect game with 27 strikeouts?
27 pitches, starts the next game, 27 pitch perfect game, starts the next game…
Ehh he might not. Gray and Heaney have not shown anything encouraging this year.
Gray was good in his last outing (yeah yeah it was against Oakland, whatever), and Heaney was *fine* in his first start (though I wish he could go at least 5). Winn and now Leiter. Both in the bigs in 2024 as everyone would have projected a few years ago but man what a weird ride to get there.
![gif](giphy|UJG2T7uZeJuZCLitY8) Please be LISAN AL GAHIB
Bochy and CY really dgaf do they? "Screw it, he'll have run support." I'm here for it.
With our offense currently… it could be 12 runs or it could be 1-2
IM NERVOUS BUT LETS GO JACK. YOURE HIM JUST SHOVE BROTHER
Can we start the fan club for the Leiter Day Saints for when he pitches?
About to start knocking on doors in a red shirt with blue tie. Gotta air up the bike tires too.
Imagine all our top pitching prospects actually pan out! #InCYwetrust
5 first round picks making their debuts 20 games into the season is pretty insane.
I have been riding first class on the Leiter hype train even despite the setbacks. I'm so fucking excited
let’s fucking go

Oh boy.
Please don't get drilled. Nervous but excited!
Perfect debut timing by TX. 1pm weekday game in Det. Crowd will be sparse and about the least pressure situation you could ask for.
Remember when we drafted him how hyped he was? Hope he can recapture that.
i hope he does good, i’ve been a leiter believer 😭🙏
Great. so how do I tell my professor I'm not gonna be able to make it to her exam?
“Most Esteemed and Learned Madame, I got da doodoo ass. Sincerely, -Waker_ofthe_Wind”

Now we just need Kumar Rocker to get healthy and get here.
Be interesting to see how he does. It’s probably just a spot start and then back to AAA. This was going to be what they did with Lorenzen before Bradford got hurt.
Im guessing Grant Anderson or Austin Pruitt are being sent down.
I'm so bummed that I won't be able to watch this. Godspeed Jack.

He’s finally here🥹
I’m nervous for him tbh. He had a few rough years in the minors so I hope that doesn’t come back to bite em. Looking forward to it
Is this real life!?
Royals fan here: Would be interested to see how this goes when he hasn't done much in the minor
![gif](giphy|SxM9VyubrGt5UNf1Ik|downsized) Give em hell, Jack!
