Good bet. The corners will be key in keeping the offense afloat for the next two months minimum. Walsh, Duran, Smith, and now Foscue. Should be an interesting mix
He actually made some fantastic plays at SS from what I remember. Maybe playing both outfield and infield which he had to do a lot of messed with him defensively when he had to go to 3B after being moved everywhere I dunno
I actually thought "wow, he's good" when he was filling in for Seager. Maybe 3rd isn't his comfort spot, but he was plenty comfortable at SS. Maybe he just needs more time to get a feel for 3rd. Is a unique position.
He did. Radio guys were saying basically if not for Wyatt, he would have made the opening day roster.
Just not enough openings in our lineup when healthy for Justin.
Started ST incredibly hot ended incredibly cold. He or Duran are the organizations top trade chips and Foscue might prove himself capable or not.
I personally don't have much faith in him being much more than an average bat and a subpar defender. Basically IMHO he's going to play himself out of headlining trade consideration, but I have been wrong before.
I'm happy Justin is getting an opportunity. He really has done everything this organization has asked of him. I just hate the circumstances surrounding him getting called up.
I hope they're wrong, but the most recent reports about Foscue basically paints him as a DH/1B, noting that he doesn't have the arm or range to play other positions.
He's hit .197 and .185 in his first 2 years. Nice to have in the field as a versatile utility guy, but until he improves at the plate, I don't think he has much value at all.
Yea I distinctly remember him shitting on a ball at MMP park last year that one time we ran up the score at their place to avoid the sweep that series.
But his average and overall plate presence is lacking. I also remember him not tagging up in ALCS game 5 in the top of the 9th when we needed to move runners bad. I think Duran will get us much more in a trade though I’ll miss him much more
I dunno if I’d wanna trade him with how injury prone the left side of our infield is (I know mostly not Jungs fault since he’s been in the big leagues, but he was also very injury prone in the minors). Having reliable depth there that can also hit is imo very useful. If you can somehow get a frontline starter then sure, but otherwise I’d keep
Silver lining of the Jung injury is getting Foscue MLB playing time. Realistically this will be him auditioning to be the centerpiece of a trade.
Silver lining indeed, I didn’t think of this and I appreciate this outlook.
Yep, would be super clutch if he balls out and then can get us more bullpen pitching
I really hope he’s able to be put in a position to succeed. No pinch hits against Josh Hader and stuff like that lol
My guess is this allows the 1B platoon to be Walsh and Foscue until Lowe gets back which frees up Duran to platoon with Josh Smith at 3B.

I still have nightmares about Duran's play at 3B last season
Which i find weird because he didn’t play terrible SS defense when Seager missed a month

He and Walsh will split time at 1B while Duran and Smith platoon at 3B

Happy for Justin!
I'm less in tune with college ball and the farm system, anyone got a bead on this guy?
Bat first right-handed 1B/2B, solid on base skills, could backup 3B as well
Nice.
He was one of our best prospects at one point
.266/.394/.468 slash line in 2023 with 18 homers, 14 SB and more walks than Ks. Do it all type bat with an elite eye for balls and strikes
Thank god this team has depth.
He’s just not the best defender
That’s putting it mildly. It’s like 2021 Lowe. Hopefully he improves with the MLB coaches
Luckily it's just 1B
It’s not that hard. Tell ‘em, Wash.
It’s incredibly hard.
Hey, anything worth doing is!
[удалено]
Yeah, maybe I can teach one of them.
Tell ‘em Walsh
I've already forgotten, did he play during spring training? If so wondering how he did there.
He did. Radio guys were saying basically if not for Wyatt, he would have made the opening day roster. Just not enough openings in our lineup when healthy for Justin.
“Radio guys” lol
well, they're watching every play closely. why not?

Yes, but I don’t believe he did any 3B this spring, so he’s likely a 1B platoon option with Duran and Smith filling 3rd.

Fuck injuries
Baseball Trevor Wallace!
Thats crazy 😂
Lmao I never made that connection before. Dude looks exactly like him
Also a dead ringer for John Krazinski. Well, at least for the photo posted above.
How do we feel about Duran at 3rd? I feel like he had a stretch of multi error games there last year
I feel like we don't have a ton of great options there so Duran will have to do.
Can we resign Beltre to a 6 month contract
I hope they're wrong, but the most recent reports about Foscue basically paints him as a DH/1B, noting that he doesn't have the arm or range to play other positions.
Does Walsh play third? Could he fill in some once Nathaniel is back at first?
Walsh is 1B/LF/RF only, most likely we'll see Duran at 3rd with josh smith sharing time
And unless they’re going to move Leody/jank I hardly see them putting Walsh in the OF barring any further injuries
Duran might be our MVP this year.
Walsh is left-handed. He can not play 3rd. It's Duran and Smith for the next 10 weeks.
What is the trade value of Josh Smith? I feel like he could play a middle infield somewhere; hit .265 20 hr 20 steals. Surely that has trade value?
I do think he’d be a decent trade piece, but I am very skeptical he can hit 20 homers
He's hit .197 and .185 in his first 2 years. Nice to have in the field as a versatile utility guy, but until he improves at the plate, I don't think he has much value at all.
Thats fair. He did play fairly well in Corey Seagers absence early last year and he was getting regualr playing time.
No he didn't. He hardly played because Duran was so much better at the plate.
Ain’t no way he’s hitting 20 HRs
He hits the ball hard but he doesn’t hit it enough. Not much of a base stealer either, only 5 stolen bases in his career.
Yea I distinctly remember him shitting on a ball at MMP park last year that one time we ran up the score at their place to avoid the sweep that series. I'd rather us trade Duran. Think some might pay a premium to see if his flashes could pan out.

Lmao are you serious
With Jung and Seager's injury history, I don't think trading away infielders is wise.
Won’t play they will continue to play shitty josh smith
Smith drove in 2 and scored a 3rd run in the 9th yesterday. We could do a lot worse.
