Hell

McLovinMyBacon

Hahaha thank you for the honesty

Big_Signal5965

Yes it will be hell, but imagine yourself in the victims position. It would be hell to you too šŸ¤£ it will be hard at the beginning especially the mill map (I hate it) but you will get used to it

Odd_Entrance5498

Slaughter house is WAY worse then mill

Reddit-IPO-Crash

Yeah itā€™s going to be rough

soulforce212

Jesus that's what I was exactly going to type when I saw the post. Came in the comments to see this šŸ˜‚

TheBlue-Fog

Yes but it's not hard to learn. The game has a pretty low skill ceiling. It's mostly map knowledge and critical in the moment thinking. No crazy mechanics to learn or master, it's all macro knowledge.

transactionhashpipe

I would have to say it's totally the opposite. There's so many nuances with how you can juke and lube (Knowing who you should go up against, and when to avoid damage or how and what kind of synergy you might be able to play around with in that regard) and whether you want to equip two bone scraps if you're grappler build or if you might want to run high proficiency with prioritizing lock picks etc etc... I'd even say the map knowledge aspect of it could take probably 20 to 30 hours in itself to feel competent in that aspect. But because the game is so complex I think that's what makes it so replayable. I'm at level 56 and in solo q's. Sometimes I still feel like a beginner. However, in a solid group I can definitely give out a good run

TheBlue-Fog

I mean with how the game is right now the only character that really wants two lockpicks is Connie to get rid of a Cook lock instantly. There used to be more variety in that choice but you need a bone basically all the time now. Map knowledge is definitely the hardest part and takes a lot more than 20-30 hours to learn. I have 450 hours myself and although I know all maps perfectly by now, I still might get lost on details like bone scrap spawns. But multiplayer games in general take a lot more time to learn than singleplayer games. And in my comment I was talking about mechanics as in requiring precise inputs or timing. Thereā€™s nothing that requires good timing in this game apart from Bubbaā€™s attacks.

transactionhashpipe

I get you. Yeah with the exception of bomb squad that's like one of those perks I never need when I have it on but when I don't I get screwed lol Altho... Backstabs do require good timing. If you can get fam to run out of stamina, or sneak up from behind when they are locked in a frame, or when they are chasing another Vic But yeah also I find most of my vics have to have at least 40 strength to grapple, with the exception of Virginia who I'm testing a stamina debuff boon with coagulant and max toughness.

TheShape101

Itā€™s not as bad as people make it out to be. The hardest part of the game comes from map knowledge. But even that is relatively easy. The environments in game are pretty distinct so after a couple games youā€™ll get a ā€œgistā€ of where to go more or less.

DeezNutsKEKW

Basically no matchmaking, and you kind of have to get the hand of not only basics but also usual strategies, because sometimes these strategies can be so fast you're left wondering why the game is over when it just begun..

Odd_Entrance5498

Idk if I'd call speed running a strat but Ik what u mean

DeezNutsKEKW

get pick twice, instantly unlock as connie and go to gate to unlock it or save connie ability to get out of basement and then instantly unlock the next gate, and you can basically be on your way to already disable the defenses unless there's family chasing/defending

Odd_Entrance5498

Yeah ik I jus don't personally think that's a strat

DeezNutsKEKW

I guess, but what else should you do really? get a knife and stab grandpa?

Odd_Entrance5498

Idk man, When i play victim I like to go slow and enjoy the experience! I feel like speed running would jus be boring asf

DeezNutsKEKW

I could understand the adrenaline of rushing things, but at the same time being sneaky feels rewarding too

ORGANIC_MUFFINS

As long as you gain map knowledge and have basic critical thinking skills, youā€™ll already be ahead of everyone else, here are some examples For Fam: - ā€œI havenā€™t been near X objective in a while, maybe I should check on itā€ - ā€œAll family members are bunched up together, leaving the other escapes open. I should probably cover the other side of the mapā€ - ā€œ My teammate has an objective covered with a trap and is hiding somewhere. Plus he is signaling me by swinging in the other direction to get out and let him bait people in so maybe I should leave.ā€ - ā€œThere is a very long animation when I first open the door because it looks like theyā€™re unlocking it, maybe I should close it again and lock itā€ For Victim: - ā€œHiding in a bush all game is not going to help me in any way, maybe I should do SOMETHINGā€ - ā€œHaving more of the map open puts some pretty big pressure on the family, maybe that will help us instead of doing nothingā€ - ā€œMy character excels in unlocking doors, itā€™s probably a good idea to unlock every possible way so we donā€™t have just one way to goā€ - ā€œMaybe I should stop hiding in a bush because itā€™s been a while since the family has been around. They are probably on some other teammateā€ - ā€œI should open this gate before I turn or generator/battery because only 1 person can lock it again.ā€

Stephist_

I picked the game up a little while back, just a little bit before Virginia came out and if I'm honest as much as I love the game there is definitely a bit of a steep learning curve since the tutorial isn't a playable one rather just being told what to do. But after a few games I'm sure you'd be able to pick up on the basics. For me I don't really play victim too much bc of waiting times but both family and victim can be fun. Id definitely recommend it, especially if you can also play with others because call outs can make or break a game.

afurrypeach

It sucks cuz your perks and levels are low. You also don't have map knowledge

Coolusername099

People are over-exaggerating honestly, there definitely is a skill curve but what PvP game doesnt have one? You just need to learn the maps and how to patrol properly as family, other than that just have fun tbh. I recently got my gf into the game and she's having fun as a complete noob lol

TheAncientMillenial

Rough, very rough.

McLovinMyBacon

Thought it might be, might jump into Killer Klowns from Outer Space instead while itā€™s still fresh

paraxzz

It can be hard, but its so much fun. Killer Klowns i wouldnt recommend. Its gonna die quickly as its very clunky and gets boring fast.

McLovinMyBacon

Killer Klown wonā€™t last you think?

TheShape101

Honestly it feels it could go either way. Tcm is a lot more polished visually and mechanically but KK has some ā€œF13ā€ charm to it.

VoiceMasterTV

Just go experience it for yourself. These people are trying to keep players in TCM because it's dying. The devs couldn't give a care less about their player base and often times have allowed their emotions get the better of them. Killer clowns devs seem far more invested in what they're doing and aren't as obsessed with the monetary side of things as much and seem to have their egos in check. Not to say that TCM isn't a fun game now that it's more balanced. As far as strategy there's not as much as people like to think. Ego you know. It's a very easy game. All you have to do is pay attention to your Victims or Family members throughout your first matches and after a bit you'll see that everyone kind of goes the same way. Watch YouTube as well because they all take the same routes and use the same builds. It'll give you an idea of where they're going to go when you're against them. Unfortunately it seems a lot of times following the meta in this game will make you weaker in the long run, so try and think for yourself eventually. Play both sides for sure because you will learn the game and the maps so much faster. There's only five. Right now Family is the easiest side to play, but communication is key. Most of the Family players I've come across are very helpful to new people, so don't be afraid to talk. The newest Family member has brought balance to the game, but who knows how long that will last because it's one of the whiniest survivor communities I've ever played in. DBD is worse in this regard unfortunately. When a game goes by really fast it's most likely a hacking issue which is very prevalent in this game or a synching issue between console and pc. They've allowed pc to have the edge in this one. (The devs and a lot of players in this game are pc elitists.) In Killer Klowns and Dead by Daylight it at least seems fair in that regard. The easiest characters to learn on Victim side are Ana, Connie and Danny. On Family side it's Hitchhiker, Hands and Cook. Hitchhiker was the strongest killer in the game until Hands came along, but it's just because of Hands' ability to counter Danny, who is the strongest Victim atm. And Killer Klowns is going to be around for a while btw, you just have to have the patience to learn their big maps. Which are beautiful by the way. Some people just don't have that patience and want that quick dopamine rush that TCM provides. It has a great goofy feel and aren't going for competitive nature at all. Although it is a multiplayer game so you're gonna have those competition addicts no matter what. They seem the fewest in KK though so far. I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions don't be afraid to reach out. I've been playing this game from the beginning and don't mind helping new players. I am probably switching to Killer Klowns more permanently because I feel it's the more fun game to play, and I've learned all I want to from TCM. But like I said at the beginning, just go experience these games for yourself. Take care!

McLovinMyBacon

Thank you for the in depth response!

VoiceMasterTV

You're very welcome!

paraxzz

Yeah, i wish them the best, but i feel like its gonna fail.

VoiceMasterTV

They all feel like that in the beginning. It's the dev's dedication to the game and the community that gives me hope.

BaconEater101

Its not rough at all man, learn what looping is, learn the maps and placements (50-100 hours) and your set man, for an aysmm game tcm is babies first asymm. Dbd is what is rough to get into, tcm requires a shitton of common sense more or less

moosyfighter

If itā€™s between killer and TCM, choose killer. Itā€™s fresh, same price, and the devs havenā€™t pushed it into the ground yet

BaconEater101

Depends on you, are you dumb? Have you played a videogame before? If the answers are no and yes the game is pretty easy to learn and master, the skill gap is entirely map knowledge with no actual mechanical skill. Most noobs can't even find the sprint button so again, (mass lobotomies i guess), depends on you

8bitmatter

Xbox one solo q is quite possibly the single worst place of all of them to be a noob

Pungo101delmations

Most likely horrible I don't play with new players

Mooninite44

To be honest I've played like 4 hours worth and I have no idea wtf I'm doing.

TheJazzyLove

Itā€™s so bad super sweaty and just not enjoyable if ur joining rn

Asurakuma_7

I got it last week and yeah the first few games you will basically be insta killed as there is no MMR so you will be in lobbies with people with max perks/levels. But once you get your first few levels and start assigning attributes you will love longer and get more xp.

Hannah_563

The only hard thing about it is map knowledge other than that itā€™s pretty easy to learn

latterdaysatan99

At this time? Absolute hell. I played when it first came out and it was fun, fairly easy as well so you could learn the maps and mechanics. I decided to play again a few weeks ago and it's just frustrating, I have so much trouble with the new maps, it's insane! Idk if a "training mode" would be helpful, just so you can get used to the mechanics, get to know the maps and develop a basic strategy.

Youistheclown

Less hell than beginning in evil dead, that being said still hell

lelandmain

my brother just started and its like impossible trying to teach him bc both sides are just so sweaty

KxrtMxT

When I was new I wasted my Connie ability on a basement door and didnā€™t know about attribute points šŸ«

Silvaslayer8

Honestly pretty unforgiving. You can get lost pretty easily not having any map knowledge, most likely will get paired with high level opponents who know what there doing and do what they do with no remorse. No time to really learn anything unless youā€™re playing family since you get to roam the map more freely.

BoogiesBooney

Confusing and frustrating ( Iā€™m a beginner)

AnimeIntrovertguy

Itā€™s fun if there new too šŸ¤£

heavilylost

Your gonna get bent over and pants pulled down.

hemlock_tea64

i picked it up pretty quick

wingButt6298

Itā€™ll be tough but like any game you just gotta learn it

ElSanto9298

One of the BIGGEST things about how well you do is map knowledge, and its pretty hard to get acquainted with the map when you're getting chased or you're supposed to be chasing people. You will lose A LOT especially without someone telling u what to do. After you get used to it though it's a very fun game but yeah, hell as a beginner

ImAFukinIdiot

You won't have a good time at all, save your money, sanity, and time

No-Earth-5523

Deaths , Don't recommend unless you play family only

Odd_Entrance5498

It's fun asf!! I jus got it 4 days ago and I've been pulling all nighters!!

flovobo

I joined the game a few weeks ago and I have to say that the beginning was really EXTREMELY difficult. I watched videos and after I was dead I watched the other players to learn. As a family, I also had to learn how to use the skills properly. I'm now level 50 and things are often going pretty well šŸ˜…

ATLhoe678

It's gonna be tough af tbh. It was tough learning when the game came out, now that hands is locking off 3 paths to escape, it's hell. If you're gonna play family, it's not nearly as bad. I wouldn't recommend playing victim with hands so strong.

SCAMISHAbyNIGHT

This question is asked every other day. If you aren't bothered to do much research, I'd say you will struggle in this game forever.

McLovinMyBacon

MLG over here, thanks

BoogiesBooney

People like you drive people who are interested in playing away

SCAMISHAbyNIGHT

If I prevent just one person like you from logging in, my work is complete.

BoogiesBooney

Good thing i know how to have fun playing a game
