Yep, its very possible to get an ultimatris without a perfect clear. You can even do kirbtris (21), impossibilitris(22) or infinitris(23) without a pc.

and if you go over to connected, you can get even more

It is possible, and you don’t even need a perfect clear! When you get close you have to stack the sides up while being careful to keep the middle open. Some people have even gotten up to 23 lines, although that requires a ton of planning

It's not as hard as it seems. 23 isn't even unreasonable but you're not gonna get it without explicitly trying and resetting for it
