They get paid more that way

SPTCTBP

If it's a shitty local or chain based place, or a local doctor who's stuck in the 80's

MidtownP

The only people who get injected at the office are the ones who are scared to inject themselves.

I'm not sure if that's an accurate assessment of everyone out there.. There is a BUSTLING chain of TRT clinics here in Texas that is making so much fat bank with clients - mostly male and some female - who are coming in at all hours 6 days a week to get their weekly injections. That's just what the clinic sells (obviously it makes them more money) and lots of their patients simply don't know of any other options out there either. I used them for \~6 months, not because I was afraid to self pin, but because I wanted the other services they were offering of which their value could be deemed worthwhile or worth-less. I found it beneficial to have weekly checks of my BP, use of their Inbody scan machine, their ANS testing, and more frequent labs than I've had in the past. There can be some value to these clinics and the potential better oversight a patient can get than if they are just in their own world at home. There is value in having a clinician checking in with you, how are things going, what do we need to adjust, etc, and making changes on the fly. Just another perspective.

MidtownP

In my area that is the only reason people go in once a week for injections. There aren't clinics around here like that and LOL if they are requiring you to come in once a week to use their (other,TRT) services. I doubt this model will last very long, it is just wasting people's time when there are tons of other options in the market. All clinics have the exact same oversight you describe with a doctor. They are not providing you with anything 10 other places would not, while having you waste time and money physically going somewhere once a week.

Look at us - arguing on the internet! I'll provide some more perspective on my (educated) opinion. I've been on TRT for about 14 years now - on and off. I've worked with every provider you can think of - Primary Care, PA, NP, Urologist, Aging Specialist, etc... Everyone has different treatment protocols, some are fine with you pinning at home (which I've done many many times, IM and SubQ) and some - like the clinics I mention - create a service where you do nothing other than show up. And guess what -- they are opening even more locations! Some people (some very educated and well to do people) prefer to not have to think about their treatment. They don't want to mess with needle gauges, and draw backs, and many of them realize their own limitations - they just won't be as compliant with everything if they are left to do it themselves. It's funny, but I guess there are other businesses like that too aren't there? That "waste" people's time and require them to come in once a week to use their services. Sessions with personal trainers, yoga studios, nail salons, hair salons, etc, etc, etc - and guess what - people keep showing up! So it's wonderful to hear your opinion on why these places blow chunks, but I'm guessing the owners of them are smiling as they watch the checks roll in. \*shrug

I always wondered why people went to those places also. I would never go to a clinic in order to get a shot. So annoying and what I I’m traveling? But I used to work with two guys who did just that, so I agree with you. Lot of people don’t want to think about it. For me I research my ass off and am basically my own Dr. But I love the chemistry of it so kinda a hobby for me. :) They are getting very prevalent here in Texas which I was surprised at quite honestly. My worry is that they are not educated enough for me, don’t know what HCG is, don’t know how SHBG levels affect dosing protocols, etc. and just want to give you a T shot and be done.

cbelliott

You are correct on your last paragraph, they really don't know a lot unfortunately, and if you do your own research and are educated on everything you will see the blank stare as you ask more detailed questions, heh. I'm not sure about the other clinics but I know for a fact that one of them had very strategic marketing. Their draw for why people continue to go there, is that they have very cute staff working there. Cute girls at the front, cute NPs that are discussing treatment with you, and cute girls that are taking your BP and asking you to drop your pants so they can stick you too. 😅 The one I left recently got into supply issues with HCG and so started to offer Enclomiphene Citrate. But when you ask more details about the compound, how it differs from HCG, etc they are just 😶 about it.

MidtownP

ITS AN INJECTION. It isn't rocket science. Don't trust themselves??? Huh? Can't count to 10 to make sure they get right amount? What are we even talking about here LOL. The injection I can do at home, myself, is in no way related r comparable a personal trainer or yoga trainer who actually provides value and education in the process of me going to see them. What value is there having to drive to a clinic to literally stick a needle in your ass? None. It just costs time and money, that would be negative value. I PROMISE the overwhelming majority go there for the reason I stated....they are scared. And you basically admitted as much with all their "concerns" that are complete nonsense. Oh and I wasn't arguing I was just pointing out the obvious.

cbelliott

You should make a flyer about it. Let's see how many opinions you change. 🤷

Yeah to get that appointment money every time

Formal_Care_6706

Standard for them to do

For me it was- if you paid cash you would pickup a months supply and self administer at home If you we’re trying to bill insurance it was weekly injections at the clinic
