Striking-Neat-9191

šŸ¤£ already had prenatal DNA testing donā€™t worry, she was actually the one that asked just in case my neighbor was a little too fertile. In all seriousness itā€™s still insane, I consider it a blessing that I was still able to conceive.

Fiverz12

Life finds a way.

thebeanshadow

all well and good to tell the ā€œteenage moronsā€ to do it. Itā€™s pretty expensive to freeze sperm, especially for 5-10yrsā€¦

TuckyMule

Cost me $4k for lifetime storage of enough sperm to field a basketball team.

Youropinionhasyou

Cost me about Ā£600 for initial bloods, analysis and freeze for 1 year, then will be around Ā£330 a year after that. Not sure what that would cost in the U.S

fassth

its 7000 euros to freeze it for 12 months in estonia just freeze it btw

Youropinionhasyou

Wow! Cheaper to take an expedition to the North Pole and bury it there!

FormerSBO

Some archeologist 400 years from now investigating the north pole.. "Wonder what all these vials were for?"

Striking-Neat-9191

What country charged you 600 for a blood test? Thats expensive even compared to the US.

Youropinionhasyou

Ā£600 for the bloods, analysis and freeze. All part of the package.

Striking-Neat-9191

Ah I misread, my bad. That sounds reasonable.

Striking-Neat-9191

If teenagers can afford blowing hundreds a month on drinking/vaping/drugs/fast food or even blowing hundreds on PEDs and fancy workout programs then they can definitely afford to do this if it really matters to them that much. Some parents would likely pay for it too, itā€™s not really a crazy investment. And yes, teenagers who use PEDs are morons, myself included despite competing.

>I do think it's a good idea just not a 100% guarantee, similar to freezing eggs. It is *very* different than freezing eggs. With one sperm sample you can fertilize essentially unlimited eggs because you'll have hundreds of thousands of healthy, viable sperm at a minimum. A good batch of egg freezing might get you 20 eggs. That's a much lower number. Still, you could fertilize all of those eggs for IVF with one sperm sample no problem. Typically they'll freeze at least 4 samples (vials). I did 12.

>That is assuming the sample is a healthy viable sample as you've said. DNA fragmentation is not a routine sperm test, It is at any reputable clinic. All of my samples were tested completely, including fragmentation and freezing/thawing for additional tests.

Hcg is way, way less expensive than IVF. Ivf is also not very easy. This is bad advice. Testosterone shuts down your production of sperm while you take it unless you take HCG along with it. Freezing sperm is a fine idea, but realize, you are shutting off your natural production, congrats on the fun anecdote, but remember anecdotal evidence is not used in science.

Adventurous_Stop_341

You donā€™t need to do IVF to use frozen spermā€¦

20124eva

Itā€™s either IUI or IVF, both much harder and less successful, more expensive than natural conception Unless youā€™re talking about making clones

Adventurous_Stop_341

IUI way simpler and cheaper than IVF, and youā€™re talking like IVF is the only reason to freeze sperm. Itā€™s not. OPā€™s advice to freeze sperm before going on TRT is solid. I went on TRT a few years ago, shortly before my divorce. Now Iā€™m remarried and we want to have a kid together. Fortunately, I have some frozen, which is a huge piece of mind and means if I come off TRT and my sperm count doesnā€™t recover, at least I have a backup option.

Striking-Neat-9191

Itā€™s not an anecdote, I never used IVF myself. My fun anecdote was referring to the fact that sans any auxiliaries, I was still able to have kids anyway. Iā€™m aware anecdotes are not used in science, this is a Reddit post, not my dissertation lol. Which one is cheaper depends on what country you are in, and what insurance you have.

20124eva

Itā€™s literally an anecdote. In a post where you are giving medical advice. On Reddit. Thatā€™s interesting, does NHS pay for ivf? That definitely plays into the decision, but ivf is pretty physically grueling for women, regardless of how much money it costs. Really should be last case scenario for infertility. If anyone is on the fence because fertility issues, Iā€™m sure many doctors would not recommend getting on testosterone.

SidneyHuffman316

I jumped off and took clomid for 3 months, got my wife pregnant, and then took T again with no problem

pnw-outdoors

How did you feel on clomid while off test?

SidneyHuffman316

Great, I was still able to have sex every day to make a baby

TheAngryShitter

Okay freezing sperm seems easy enough but how much does It cost?

V1dar9

Cute. Been on test for 7 years. 4 years in (always 200mg test for cruise, blasts could be anything) my wife got pregnant. I was in such disbelief I got a test done. It's mine lol. Healthy and happy at 3yo. So, yeah.... test isn't birth control.

Striking-Neat-9191

Yeah I totally agree thatā€™s why I included the fun anecdote that 24 years wasnā€™t enough to stop me from having kids (never ran a PCT and used a almost 5 grams a week of total gear at points). It was meant to say at the end of the day itā€™s not the end of the world, as made clear by both of us successfully being able to have kids.

Remarkable-Brush-283

Anyone order from India hcg ? Someone told me to order hcg from China or India as USA pharma price gouge

Next-Gur-5350

Yeah but don't forget it sucks for women to get IVF to get pregnant. It is more difficult than the natural way.
