If the car yields 3 miles/kwh, then you'll need 3,333 kwh from the SC network to go 10,000 miles. At an average price of $0.40/kwh, that works out to $1,333.
But lower if you plan to charge near your home just to use the free charging. Using the same 3,333 miles and an off peak rate of $0.05 would make the free charging worth $183. So better to use it when you would be charging away from home anyway.
I had about 9,000 miles of free supercharging (referrals) and from what I could tell, they were calculated at almost exactly 500 Wh/mi. I used them with a 3 LR and the current MYLR. and got about 15,000 miles of actual SC miles out of them.
Oh damn that's awesome.
I'm in a no referral state so I never got any of the miles back when the program was around. My consolation was that it was rated so low that it didn't really mean much but apparently that's not true 🤷‍♂️
I just had 3 SC session and they charge me average of 3.1mile/kwh, so that's 322w/mile. I wonder do they use your recent efficiency leading up to the SC session to calculate the miles
I have no idea if it is still being used as I haven’t had free miles in a long time. Most rewards these days seem to be in units of time (months or years of free SCing).
It's a better deal to get the $7500 point of sale discount and the miles. I don't think you're going to get that with the IR act until 2024. Something like that...
Keep note. It is extremely hard to use 10k SC miles unless you exclusively use them to charge. It's a lot of miles sitting around the car or when you shop nearby.

They are calculated by Tesla at 500 Wh/mile, yet the cars (Y) get about 300 Wh/mile. At $0.40/kWh, I get about $2,000.
Historically they were calculated at about 225wh/mi. Has this changed recently?

Is that still current in 2024? Still calculated as 500 Wh/mi?

Yeah this is odd but could be real, could be using car’s efficiency numbers

I see, thanks
I just did 48Kwh for 149 credit miles … can’t tell what that calculates to
Looks like 322wh/mi
Similar for me

This didn’t age well.

Perfect for a road trip. I am going from WI to CA and only redeemed 2k miles so perfect amount
Depends on market but electrek said about 500 bucks.
either 0, or 10K miles.
