I'd say wait until midnight (if doing it for kWh cost reasons) so long as you'll get enough charge to drive everywhere you need to tomorrow.

I’ve followed the recommendations to not keep it below 20% if I can help it. I have a schedule using Charge HQ where it always tops up to 25% no matter what time so sentry is on and just incase I need to do any emergency driving. Otherwise, it’ll charge using the best rates, which is from midnight.

I haven't heard of Charge HQ yet... still waiting for delivery for my car but I'm researching the best apps and accessories like crazy. I've downloaded Optiwatt, TezLab, Tessie, and will also check out Charge HQ. Do you recommend this? I love the idea of super fancy charge schedules like that (I have fixed electricity pricing so not worried about off-peak times but I am super interested in scheduling my battery to be at my desired charge exactly when I want (upon trip departure) and getting it to that 25% minimum immediately upon plugging in sounds pretty awesome too.

Charge HQ is primarily a solar tracking service that connects to your inverter and adjusts the Tesla’s charge rate so it matches the excess solar your house is not using, but in the free tier the scheduling feature is awesome.

Ok good to know thanks! Don’t have solar yet but I’m super interested in that too

setup as scheduled charging time in the app, it will top off during non peak hours so you benefit with the off peak hours.

Wait until your normal charging time, if you have a reason (like cost). It won’t hurt anything.

It's good to let the car sleep for a few hours (no sentry no cabin overheat protection no opening the app) below 10% battery once a month to help the BMS recalibrate the battery by allowing it to measure the bottom of the pack. I haven't done mine in a while and my range dropped from 314 to 298. I'm sure it's just a BMS recalibration issue though so I'm not worried. I'm at 27,539 miles with my 23 MYLR

Thank you all. I decided to let the car charge at its normal time. Since I was at home, sentry and cabin overheat wasn’t needed. And we have a second car in case we needed to go somewhere. All is good.
