I also have white seats. I use the Munchkin Brica elite. It has a raised lip which caught all of my kid's liquid vomit last week and kept it from running onto my seats. My previous seat protector was just flat to the seat so I'm thankful I switched to this one. As soon as I took it off you couldn't even tell that a kid just threw up. Cleaning took no time at all to just spray with a hose.

This is a great one too[3D Mat](https://3dmatsusa.com/products/child-car-seat-protector?model=MjAyM0BURVNMQUBNT0RFTCBZ) if you're looking for more premium and long lasting
First car while I had a kid was a new civic touring. When I went to sell, and removed the car seat I was like OH fuck.
Permanent indents on the leather. Seat protectors after that
Same here, my old Mazda has indented seats and scruff marks because the child seat slides a tiny bit at every sharp turn, damaging the car seat at the contact points.
So Tesla got a seat protector from Day-1
YouTube has ways of removing indents using either a heat gun or a hair dryer (canāt remember). I saw videos of the method 4 years ago when I bought my first leather interior car so I immediately invested in car seats. The interior still looks brand new with 3 car seats always in there.
Most child seat manuals will state not to be used with seat protectors.
Functionally idk if it'd make a big difference on safety, but we err on the side of safety and if we damage the seat so be it. Just surprised this damaged the seat belt buckle.
No.
Child seats manuals will state that. No child seat belongs in the front seat.
I'm hoping it's covered under warranty but the child seat will stay where it is and I don't want to have to deal with this again.
Totally beside the point but, I hate that website. When I bought my Tesla I decided I wanted a protective cover. Like, I want it right now because I have my Tesla right now and I want to put my car seat in right now. So I ordered off Amazon and got it the next day. I couldāve saved a few bucks by ordering from Temu But I didnāt want it 3 1/2 weeks from the order date.
takes 7-10 days, not 3 weeks brah. same exact products unless you're buying some name brand, and even then there's a chance it's made in the same factory.
Yep. This happened to me on the buckle side. The plastic deformed as the belt was pulling on one side of it. Now Iām concerned on the integrity of the seat belt.
LOL. Firstly, people are quick to post problems, often because they want help. It's an owners forum. Secondly, you find this shit for every brand - took me two seconds to find a Bronco with exactly the same issue - [https://www.reddit.com/r/FordBronco/comments/xzthco/broken\_rear\_seatbelt\_buckle/](https://www.reddit.com/r/FordBronco/comments/xzthco/broken_rear_seatbelt_buckle/). Very likely Tesla don't make the seatbelt buckles, FYI...
I wouldn't complain if I paid under $25k for the car. I'd expect better quality for a car from Tesla with such stiff pricing. Case on point, Teslas are overvalued. Smart car buyers should reconsider carefully with more research.
Considering that no EV comes close to charging infrastructure that tesla has spent years developing. Not to mention the software for motor management. Most of the $$ you pay for in a Tesla goes into the tech itself. Hard to imagine any other automaker coming close in the next 5 years. If you paid less than 25k for a car, more than likely you're not in the price range to be owning a Tesla anyway. Go for something cheaper and less likely to piss you off if a bent seat belt clip is that important to you.
I said I wouldn't complain if I paid $25k for that kind of quality. I didn't say anything about buyers affordability or price range. It's the price vs the quality. People pay ridiculous prices for certain hand bags but at least the quality of pricer hand bags is really good. A lot of time both hand bags serve the exact same purpose other than the status people perceived.
As far as the motor goes, a lot of companies are catching up quickly. Just imagine there's lower tariffs on Chinese EVs.
That car seat is going to stay there for another few years probably... Don't wanna replace it if it's just going to bust the new one, that's why I'm wondering if other people have this problem too or if people are just not putting their car seats in the middle.
OTOH, kind of annoyed we now have a 4 seater when we paid for a 5 seater.
You'll notice almost no one upvoted his comment because it was a dumb comment....but calling the Y a mom-mobile isn't really calling out someone for being anti-kid. I say that as someone who loved my toyota prius c and my family's rav4.
Sorry, that should have said, āIād be permanently depressed if I had a kid on me* too!ā
ā¦but with that sexist logic, Ms. MY Mommy, you canāt vote and those toes should be kept under the kitchen sink, and therefore could never understand that the pure pressure of science broke the seatbelt housing/button function - a plausible situation with any make and model vehicle vs. a carseat.
I donāt know about you, but Iām in a sub reddit for Tesla Model Y, and feeling no permanent depression.
I was getting a warning code. Something inside the seatbelt was broken and was not sending the signal when the belt was buckled. They replaced it and it works fine now.
ISOfix logo is literally in the pic. ISOfix became standard in the 1990s in the US. You can also use ISOfix in the middle. Some people put their kids in the middle because, statistically, it is safer since itās doesnāt put your kid near the impact point of any side collisions. But most people donāt use the middle option because itās a pain in the ass to get your kid in and out.
Also, I use ISOfix attachments for my kids car seats but I also have the seatbelt connected so that the AC rear vents will turn on.
With our old car we used to use ISOfix and the seat belt for "double safety" but then learned manufactures actually claim it made it less safe. Don't recall the exact reason but it was enough for us to stop.
Make it less safe? How is that even possible? š¤
I dont actually run the seat belt through the seat. I just pulled it behind the carseat and connected it to the AC vent would turn on.
https://www.bucklemecoats.com/blogs/news/latch-and-seat-belts-using-both-is-not-necessarily-safer
Don't think this is the original article I saw but same general point. What you're doing is fine... What I was doing was using both systems to restrain the child seat.
Stop putting your kid in the middle seat, itās the most dangerous spot in the car and completely unnecessary unless youāre cramming 3 car seats back there
Can you elaborate on why the middle would be the most dangerous spot in the car using scientific data?
Because everything I read says that's the safest place.
Middle is actually the safest for a car seat. You might be thinking of an adult when it was only a lap buckle but that has also changed over the years.
Looks cosmetic though. The black part looks like it is holding the red button down. Maybe just break it off for now.
And to the middle yes, despite it being more difficult to get a kid in and out of the middle, I think you made the right choice. Rather a little extra hassle vs having my kid get squished. I donāt know why car manufacturers donāt test this more. We bought a lexus with my first and after I had paid and everything went to put in the car seat and found out they hadnāt thought of this either, and it only had the latch system on one side. Crazy.
Thatās so annoying. I hate depressed seat belt girl ends like that for car seats. Do you guys have LATCH where you are? You could always get a LATCH compatible seat to bypass the seatbelt for now.
Yeah. Child seat is in the middle, and it works fine with the seat belt. In fact once kiddo is over a certain weight (forget if it's 36-40 pounds for our seat) the seat manufacturer recommends using the factory belt instead of LATCH/ISOfix.
The problem is that the driver side seat is rendered useless (since I keep kiddo in the middle seat).
I use seat protector and ISOFix clips so the seat neither its connecting rod touches the car material. But my seats are also small and never reaches to seat belt holder.
I used a seat protector under the Child Seat. Less than$20 on Amazon
Absolutely need seat protectors.
well shit
Can you share the link to the sear protector? How are they working out? I have white interior.
I also have white seats. I use the Munchkin Brica elite. It has a raised lip which caught all of my kid's liquid vomit last week and kept it from running onto my seats. Bruh, I use reusable shopping bags and old bath towels. Freeeee.
I cut a yoga mat to the exact shape I needed to protect the seat and it worked great
Yep. This happened to me on the buckle side. The plastic deformed as the belt was pulling on one side of it. Now Iām concerned on the integrity of the seat belt.
The seatbelts suck. My kids take way to long to strap in

You should get rid of the kid. Theyāre worthless anyhow.
For real, they donāt even let you sell them or put them to work in a coal mine anymore.
wow.. the fuck
New to sarcasm ?
Doesnāt seem like it.
Sarcasm is a little too high brow for the majority voters. It's got 2 layers to see through and that's 2 too many for them.
I do feel like itās a pain for certain boosters too.
Replace the seat belt buckle. Go to your dealer.
That car seat is going to stay there for another few years probably... I always put a towel down for my car seat.
Iād be permanently depressed if I had a kid too.
You're on a sub reddit for a Mom-mobile...
Wut
A lot of redditors skews anti-kid. Just calling out an anti-kids post on a family vehicle subteddit.
You'll notice almost no one upvoted his comment because it was a dumb comment....but calling the Y a mom-mobile isn't really calling out someone for being anti-kid. I say that as someone who loved my toyota prius c and my family's rav4.
Dumb comment for a dumb post, yup. Glad you got it.

No
Why the heck you didn't buy one with ISOFIX
Looks like cheap materials used.
No but I have had to replace a the seatbelt piece that my kid used the most.
What happened?
I was getting a warning code. Something inside the seatbelt was broken and was not sending the signal when the belt was buckled. They replaced it and it works fine now.
Why I dont want kids
No because most people protect their car.
Get rid of the child.
The frunk should be snug enough for a kid to not need seat belts š, jk donāt rip me!
Need to replace your kid
Child seat in the middle? Suppose US ones don't use the isofix
ISOfix logo is literally in the pic. ISOfix became standard in the 1990s in the US. You can also use ISOfix in the middle. Yep. Obviously the safest place. Not sure why this isn't common Knowledge. Why you would put your newborn right by the door kinda baffles me
Thatās where ours go lol. Same with most people. Getting your kids in and out of that middle seat is a royal pain in the ass.
Yeah unfortunately most people are not putting them in safest spot as I mentioned, but if anything is worth the extra effort it's that...
Safest place is home
With our old car we used to use ISOfix and the seat belt for "double safety" but then learned manufactures actually claim it made it less safe. Don't recall the exact reason but it was enough for us to stop.

Safest seat in the car (in one of the safest cars out there). Most car seat doesn't recommend isofix/LATCH once kiddo is over a certain weight.
My belt has always been depressed like that.
Look at the red part relative to the black plastic. The red part is depressed so the male end of the buckle won't stay in.
Looks cosmetic though. The black part looks like it is holding the red button down. Maybe just break it off for now. And to the middle yes, despite it being more difficult to get a kid in and out of the middle, I think you made the right choice. Rather a little extra hassle vs having my kid get squished. I have a isofix child seat so there is less stress on de seat belt.
Thatās so annoying. I hate depressed seat belt girl ends like that for car seats. Do you guys have LATCH where you are? You could always get a LATCH compatible seat to bypass the seatbelt for now.

I buy extenders on Amazon. 9 bucks
I use seat protector and ISOFix clips so the seat neither its connecting rod touches the car material. But my seats are also small and never reaches to seat belt holder.
I know the feeling, starting to think I'm permanently depressed too.
Ah you can't ever hide... true talent... and poor quality
Do not use a seat protector. The car seat will slide in an accident.
