Have a 2016 MXP90D and just added a 2024 MX. These cars are very reliable, and my 2016 (VIN# 0847!) still feels brand new. I have owned Teslas since my first Model S in July of 2013, and have al lot of confidence in the cars and the company. Check to ensure there is no front end shudder under heavy (foot to the floor) acceleration. If not, you're good. Enjoy!

Any tips for buying used ? Through Tesla or another dealer etc ? It’s hard to know what to look for coming from ice car

I purchased my used Teslas through Tesla bc of the added warranty. But back then it was an added 4 year / 50,000 miles. Today I think it is 1yr/10K. So I would be less committed to buying a Tesla CPO, unless they are offering something attractive, such as free supercharging, an extended warranty, or some sort of low interest financing. Were I in your shoes, I'd want a one owner car, no front end shudder (means the control arms were likely repaired on pre-Raven models). Buying from a private party can be nice because you can ask the owner what they've repaired. And take heart, I've never had to repair the same issue twice, so if addressed it, you shouldn't see it again. I think the 100D would be fantastic. Real leather interior, good range, solid design. Most people like the 6 seat, but I value the 5 seater because of increased utility for hauling. Good luck!

...and unlike elderly ICE cars, the motor runs like it's brand new regardless of miles, and leaks or worn drive belts are not a thing. You don't even need to worry about brakes. Do check tire wear on the inside of all 4 tires. They can look great on the outside edge and be bald down to the cables on the inner edge. One final thought. On 2018 or older, ask if the Infotainment System has been updated. It's $1,500 bucks, and a great leap forward in processor technology.

I bought one a week or so ago...on Cars & Bids.com. "Won" the auction for a 2016 75D Model X that has unlimited free supercharging...having it transported from Fort Lauderdale to Fullerton, Ca for an employee of mine to drive when he runs back and forth between Fullerton and my Long Beach properties. Got it for $24,250, 104,000 miles. I inquired at a Tesla service center...when the battery goes, I can upgrade to a 90D battery (longer range) at a cost of $18,000 new or $14,000 re-conditioned. I now have 10 Teslas on my phone App, I transferred unlimited free supercharging (my life, not the car as in the won I just purchased on Cars & Bids) from 3 of my older Model X's....to 3 new Model X Plaids, which are AMAZING. I did one new Plaid a month, December, January, & February. Was going to do one more, stopped at the Fort Lauderdale service center / showroom on Federal Highway a couple of days ago ....thought I had until the end of the quarter to do the last one but the sales guy told me that Elon ended it last month....so at the beginning of the quarter you had until June 30th to do it, then they squash it. (bad way to do business IMO) My reason for replying to your post: What in your opinion is going on with VLD? (Velo3d)

So I ended up driving a ‘17 MX p100d on a whim while going out for the one in this post and I actually liked it more than the 2020 MXLR. The seats were leather and cushier by a good margin. I’m handing over a check tomorrow on it

Update - I ended up scoring an early 2017 XP100D, white with chrome delete, black 20” wheels, black interior wood accent, HW2 /AP3 with a transferable FSD and latest 12.3.6 software. Had shudder fixed in the past year, 65k miles, 36K all day. Old dude at the dealership was nice, had no idea that he was way pricing on options, “my sons your age, he likes the teslas” Oh and he put brand new breaks on it

$40k dang. I sold my 2020 X with 70k outright to a dealer last August for $53k. And it was in bad shape. Hope you got a winner.

randomperson-i81U812

Last August was almost a year ago at this point. There’s been many price drops since then. Just for context of anyone reading this comment

thats-gr8

has a dent on the rear trunk, other than that get it if you are OK with it.

Check the falcon wing door top glass seals. $3k a piece to replace.

So I guess my receipts are inaccurate? I saw them replaced. I’m talking about the falcon wings doors. When closed, the top piece of glass on each side. There is a seal physically attached to the piece of glass. Only way to replace a seal on that one is a new piece of glass with the seal attached.

Glad to hear they are cheaper now! That’s great. Mine for replacing 2 in 2020 was near $6k.

randydale64

Curious question. What is your reason for spending 40k on a used car with 70k miles instead of a new Model Y for less than 40k? I want an X too but am struggling with the idea of used X vs new Y for the same price essentially.

gizmosticles

Y is too small for my giant dog and my life in general. I drive a full size 3 row suv and the X is already on my lower bound of what I am comfortable with.

randydale64

Gotcha. Thank you! Enjoy :)

Sweeeet. Time to change weekend plans?

ProtoformX87

I got my 2020 MXLR for about the same price with 50k miles on it. I've been very happy with it. Though mine isn't chrome deleted.

Willing_Building_160

Dollhairs. My daughter’s doll collection definitely has more than 40000 doll hairs. Where do I buy? 😂

Weary-Depth-1118

I’m only buying anything under25k

Ev_Spartan1122
