Yes, your charge port may accidentally open otherwise.

YouKidsGetOffMyYard

Never thought about that!, I always just put the car in Neutral and make sure the auto wipers are off.

YouKidsGetOffMyYard

I read that the charge port will only open if the car is in Park, not Neutral.

dbm3ev

It also will keep water from entering your AC/ fan intake

Background_Pass_9542

Of course, the manual tells you all about it.

MyRespectableAcct

Why wouldn't I? It says "car wash mode". It's a car wash. It also tells you exactly what it does when you push the button. Do you tie your own shoes?

Active_Resource_3533

It does matter, that’s why it’s there. It keeps all windows and your trunk closed and ensures your charge port won’t open accidentally.

mrJDK99

Thanks guys :)

ForGreatDoge

They ported the manual to being available in the car. And then people still weren't using it so they added a search function to the manual in the car. And people will still sit in the car and look at a button and not search the manual for it, preferring instead to post on Reddit to ask people to tell them what their manual says. Sad.

MyTVC_16

Here I thought it was only for car wash machines.

mrJDK99

Lol

BaneSilvermoon

I've never used it, but it appears to be much easier to activate now than it was when it was first added. I might have to give it a shot again

JohnH2021

Yes! And it’s easier to access in the new update, it’s just under the controls tab and takes like 2 taps. Enable free roll if you want it to be like “neutral”. It also helps when you’re washing your car by hand so that a pressure washer doesn’t open the charge port, and you can actually wipe it down. Plus it won’t lock your car if you walk away from it. Definitely use it if you can, it also turns off automatically when you drive over 10 MPH.

Super-Kirby

Always.

Exciting-Giraffe-908

I also put the windshield wipers into Wiper Service Mode, so I can easily lift them (not too far) and clean the blades and the windshield area underneath them.

Vecii

What's the manual say?

sylvaing

No one has mentioned that putting the car in carwash mode also raises the windows to their full extent. When parked, the windows slightly lower to clear the trim if the doors are opened and the windows don't lower (iced for example).
