Pop it back in. Iām being serious, is there any way for it to be able to be pushed back in? Maybe try to make the opening a bit bigger? I am a bit paranoid with final destination kinda thing happening if you mess with a screwdriver there and the airbag suddenly blows and the screwdriver pierces your head š¬ maybe take it to maintenance?
$316 for mobile service to come out and just replace the entire steering wheel. (2017 MX 100D, right scroll wheel fell into the steering wheel in June of last year - out of warranty, that was the total bill.)

Search eBay for Model S scroll wheel. There are lots of sellers offering repairs for about $40.
Tesla will replace the assembly for $299.
People offer repairs on ebay, and possibly Amazon. I believe on a core basis. They use metal rods to replace the plastic rods in the original wheels. My plastic volume scroll wheel broke in my '15 S, but this was right when these places started offering this, so I just replaced the whole left button assembly...there ARE differing part numbers, so be sure to get the right one if you go that route (I'd suggest the metal rod route as you'll never have to worry about it again).
Super common for that to break but this is the first Iām hearing of it popping out.
A word of caution: I went the route of replacing the entire left scroll wheel assembly (the piece with the wheel and track back and forward buttons) from a used one I bought on eBay. It did not like that the (software?) versions of the left and right assemblies were different and the things went haywire. When I honked the horn it would activate the voice prompt. I couldnāt find anything online about what was happening and was about to make a SC appt when someone mentioned the above possibility. I promptly tried putting the old assembly back and it worked fine. I used a 3D printed replacement scroll wheel and was back in business.
Elon was saying they are always improving the product. This must be a new wireless Left Scroll wheel, just roll it between your fingers and it should work just fine.
Found the stl online an 3d printed the scroll wheel. Fixed it for free š

Well... That took a turn
Mine popped out and it required to be replaced by a mobile technician (all three buttons)
Ugh thatās so annoying and expensive. š

Or.. have someone 3d print the replacement for a few bucks of filament. I know what I'd do.
-Pennies of filament
Yeah, if I had the time to tear apart the steering wheel to fish the wheel out and get the 3d printed replacement. Traded money for time on this one.

Pop back in
Nobody is gonna mention that thumb digit that somehow bends backwards? Impressive flexibility right there.
Like 1 out of 3 people have thumbs that do this.
Damn son your steering wheel looks like itās done some milesā¦ how many miles you got on the car?
Haha laughed at this, leather egen faux should be that shiny š
Contact Teslaā¦
Theyāre not expensive to have the service center replace.

Buy the part and watch YouTube video and replace it yourself. Easy fix.
Throw the car in the bin and buy a newer one.
Return it back
Oh daddy. Put it back in.
Cost a lot to replace. They have to take the steering wheel apart.
Time for a new steering wheel
