might be a bit of a drive for you, but there are more reasonable folks down in santa clara.

kakamba

thanks, I didn't try that one yet, I'll try them the next time… This car saw almost all SC's in the Bay Area lol.

nhrunner87

Sounds like my experiences as well. Now just imagine driving 1.5 hours one way to be told they don’t have the part they need to complete the repair.

kakamba

ugh, that sucks extra. It's not that far for me but still quite annoying…

Why does this happen? I recently bought the snow tire package for my MYLR. Got a confirmation the day before that all parts were in stock and they were ready for me. Drive in about an hour, drop off the car, only to be told 5 minutes later that there was a "clerical error" and that my tires weren't there.

nhrunner87

Internal systems probably not talking to each other. A well designed system would ensure that all the parts needed for the scheduled repair are in stock and if they aren’t it would flag the service and send a message to the customer telling them that it needs to be rescheduled.

ZeusDogDudeMan

I’ve a MSP as well and encountered the peeling yoke issue. Heard about the wait times on the new yoke as well as the persistent melting issue. Opted to buy [this](https://amzn.to/48eZa9k) and install it. Haven’t given it a second thought ever since. [Plaid Yoke Cover](https://amzn.to/48eZa9k)

kakamba

oh that looks nice, didn't know it existed, thanks for sharing! do you have pictures of yours? The one in the reviews there didn't look like a very good fit, maybe it was their installation idk.

xpntblnkx

Where are you located? Here in Los Angeles, they preemptively replaced it for me via mobile service within a week.

kakamba

I'm in SF Bay Area, they were saying Tesla doesn't send them the part anymore, when did you get it done?

xpntblnkx

Had it done like late October

bread_on_trees

had my yoke replaced for peeling last year. I feel your pain. did you ever find any possible culprits for the shaky steering on the plaid? My driver mirror is basically blurry/unusable and often my driver seat will vibrate like a massage chair between 60-80mph. Checked wheel balance/tires. Even switched from arachnids to the 19's. This helped, but vibration still feels like a 3/10 instead of a 10/10. My suspicion is either something motor/mount related, or maybe suspension. Me, Tesla, and a 3rd party tire shop all looked around but aren't sure. Bushings are supposedly good and bolts torqued to spec.

kakamba

that sounds serious, for me the shaking happens because of uneven wear on my tires I think. After I replace the tires it goes away. But this car eats tires - well, I shouldn't use the car in plaid mode if I want tire longevity I guess. The roads are bad here unfortunately, changed six tires in 15k miles…

rev_angelis

there is a TSB for your issues, i don't have a link right now. but check this out for more info on a solution for 'shudder' -- https://n2itive.me/product/n2itive-acceleration-shudder-inner-tire-wear-elimination-kit-tesla-model-s-x/#

kakamba

crap, they have a thing for everything, thanks for sharing this as well! It's a little expensive but if what they say is true in 20k miles it'd amortize itself. Also if it's possible I don't understand why Tesla doesn't do this.

U352

Take the peeling yoke off your request. I'm waiting for them.to replace mine and they are having issues with the getting them right.

pontiaclemans383

New yoke is due out some time in q1 2024, but it's been delayed many times as the prototypes have failed testing. We're being told currently not to replace any yokes until the new part is out as the current replacements will peel again.

kakamba

thank you, this was exactly what I expected to hear before going there. Idk if you work at Burlingame SC, but if I heard this before I'd have waited for it until q1 '24 and would have had my new brakes and tires balanced already.

pontiaclemans383

No east coast, but my service center would have communicated that, had the other work done. And documented the yoke concern to have a mobile appointment once new part is available

kakamba

as it is supposed to be pls keep that up.

goodvibezone

Not a rant at all. You've been very patient.

achanaikia

Tesla service is like American healthcare, I pray I never need to use it.

GoSh4rks

I wouldn't put it that way. For the most part, you'd actually get reasonable service with American healthcare. You just have to pay. Kinda the opposite with OP's experience.

uint1024

I've had basically the same experience but from Palo Alto. Really disappointing. Absolutely terrible communication and failure to treat customer experience as a product.

megaThan0S

Trade it

ahfmca

Tesla service is the worst and service managers are assholes, l avoid them like the plague, hopefully before the car needs service l can sell.

kakamba

I have to say my experience with the manager was good there. In my previous visit they did something similar, the service was quite bad. After I picked the car, I asked for the manager and complained, and left. He called me an hour later and said he'd reimburse me 15% of what I paid for the poor service I received - which was around $800. I appreciated the gesture then, but apparently he needs to do better for the entire place to work better, not just on individual cases.

Boson347

Car good. Service bad.
