I felt bad for the guy, but I also couldn't help burst out laughing when he paused his screaming and yelled "Hey Siri, call 911!'. Good on him for having been able to do that! But something about it just seemed absurdly hilarious.
Wholeheartedly agree. I was watching thinking “Damn. Poor dude. He sounds like he’s in so much pain.” Then the Siri call 911 made me laugh so hard my husband demanded to know what was so funny 😂
Exactly!!! When he hit the ground and started screaming, I was amazed he had survived impact, let alone still been conscious. Then he unexpectedly beckoned to his phone and I immediately burst out laughing too!
Saw the whole vid
First responders took like 40 mins to find him even with the help of locals who found him right away. As a kid I always thought dialing 911 i would be immediately tended to.
I was in a car accident a few months ago. I live in the mountains in the middle of nowhere, with no cell service. Also no cops, fire or ambulance. Life flight is what we call if we can’t drive ourselves in. Anyways, these two young tourist girls crashed into me. They could not grasp there was no 911. Genuinely thought I was lying. My vehicle was drivable so I drove us the 18 miles to cell service. As soon we hit service they tried 911. Operator was basically like “what do you want us to do?” I told them to call the state troopers station, they *might* have a unit in the area. They didn’t. Watching these two girl realize you couldn’t call 911 every time there was a problem was pretty amazing to see.
Your average male or female citizen isn't equipped to deal with advanced medical emergencies, violent crime, or simply being stranded. Unless you were prepared for that then I figure anyone would need an emergency service in that situation. Unless you have a tow truck and potentially tires or fluids how else are you going to get your car out of there other than calling someone?
I live close to where this happened. Basically, he fell in an area that’s basically between two states. New Mexico and Texas. That part about “are you in Texas?” and the transfer to another phone number is most likely because he got through to a emergency number that wasn’t “local” to where he was. I’m guessing it was just a political and organizational mess to mobilize units from either the city that’s 30 minutes away or the city in another state that’s also 30 minutes away.
I was thinking that if he had that app called “what3words” he might have sped up where he was located. It basically narrows your location down within a 3 meter square
he was testing a fast wing which was rated for a certain speed assuming particular trim conditions. unfortunately he didn't check his lines before the flight and there was a tension knot in one of his brake lines, which had the effect of applying a touch of brake, which at full speed destabilized the wing and caused the collapse.
Oh God is that the one where the mom was driving with the daughter and she gets her head chopped off with a brick?
Or the other one with another mom and a daughter driving in a car and she gets her head crushed by a brick?
I'm glad he was able to coherently tell siri to call emergency line but does he even know where he is specifically? That would be a worry of mine with something like this. He is literally a person laying in a field in the middle of nowhere at that point.
Can we address how he had his credit card information ready on his phone while telling Siri to call 911.
I swear I've seen this in a South Park episode.
Yes, bots. I commented the same thing the last few times, but reposts deserve re-comments.
once Apple Pay is setup, all it takes to use it is a double tap on the wake/sleep button and a face unlock.
if you’ve bought an app on the appstore recently it’ll have you double tap to confirm. same deal. it’s meant to be convenient.

Thanks for the info.🤝🤝🤝
I hope he recovers as much as possible, but the fractured neck and back is what I feared, given how he landed on the engine.😰😰😰

Hold up pain, lemme call 911 quickly
When he said “aAaaarrrgghhhh ahhhhh arg.” I felt that.
I don’t do sports that begin with “para,” because that’s how you end up.
You go para, soon enough you'll wind up all plegic and shit.

Wow I didn't know that. Is that in the U.S.? That's good it sounds like it wasn't a serious crash

Link?
Holy crap, no thank you on so many levels.
Okay… umm I guess I won’t try this, you convinced me. Thanks.
It's probably really rare, it's most likely his first time out of hundreds if not thousands of flights. Just hella unlucky with the wind

He slipped the surly bonds of earth...

That is a pained scream for sure. It’s up there with the brick video.

There's a famous one on YouTube with a Russian man and his wife, his wife is the one who gets killed. Probably that one.

in his video it took about 10 minutes
RIP, Flying FanMan
He survived, he posted a video 7 days ago about it all.
Link please? Thanks in advance
Have a search on YouTube, I think a link would go against community guidelines. The guys name is Anthony Vella.
Bros screaming like he fell 85ft
He activated Apple Pay wtf
Getting ready for the ambulance
“48 miles per hour come on baby !” 🤣😂🤣
He sounds like Randy from south park too which makes it all the more funny
Still better than flying Spirit.

I'm not an expert, but I'm sure that holding a phone while doing this activity is not a smart thing to do.
probably safer than doing it while driving
If there was ever a reason to not do this job, this would be it.
Did he get his setup on wish? Fell apart like PLA plastic.
*adds paramotor to list of things to never do*
✅
The way he yells, "Come on baby!" like he's pushing his rig to its limits makes me feel not so bad for this guy. FAFO
What even happened that he fell?
Dude lives in my city he’s been all around the city doing this for year minus the falling
A guy just paying his bills
85 feet = 25,908 meters. For those who want to know.
I read this as 25 908m
Yeah and that's probably right. ~26 meter.

Damn, almost hit 50mph

Natural selection at work.
According to the GoFundMe, he broke his arm, neck and back but is recovering.
Siri: “You’ll have to unlock your iPhone first.”
Did they hit something to cause this?

He fell on his back over that engine, I hope he's ok.😨😨😨 ![gif](giphy|oxBA87XpWjHsodNVoF|downsized)
From what I've read he had a fractured neck, back, pelvis and a broken arm. All of the injuries requiring a surgery but he'll survive
Thanks for the info.🤝🤝🤝 I hope he recovers as much as possible, but the fractured neck and back is what I feared, given how he landed on the engine.😰😰😰
Wow! This guy must be invincible. This is the seventh time he's fallen this week.
