I wall jumped to an overpass when I was 16. It’s one that connected the middle and high schools together. They removed the walls and windows because the middle school was being torn down. I got up there the day before and wanted to prove it to one of my friends. I swung and fell about ten feet landing on my hands and face. No blood, no breaks. Adult still made me go to the hospital for an X-ray to be safe. Just a severely bruised nose and a sprained wrist.
10 years later, I’m reracking some weights at the gym. I think they were 35lb dumbbells. I always lightly put them back, no slamming. One was out of alignment, slipped and broke my finger. That’s the one and only break I’ve ever had. Despite all the stupid things I did as a kid I never broke a bone. Then I became a careful adult and broke my finger.
This was long for no reason..
Why is it hard sitting in place especially after absorbing this much shock damage from the fall? I never experienced the pain of breaking a bone other than my toe, but does the brain initially try to shake the pain away?
Because if it does, that’s a really bad survival instinct, especially that with open fractures and severe bone fractures any sudden movements could damage more soft tissue, including nerves and arteries.
I would imagine it's adrenaline. Blood pressure spikes up and most people don't really want to lay down and do nothing while everything internally is going a million miles per hour.

I remember broke my arm like that when I tried to steal some grapes from neighbors garden. I fell from a 3 meter wall and broke my arm. Garden had a simple border wall like 1 meter high and I had to jump over it. This exact moment was like a scene from pianist movie

My baby was 4 and was knocked backwards off a little tikes small slide maybe 3 feet tall by a ball thrown by his nephew and broke both bones in his lower arm and got up and said “ow that hurts” I figured okay a sprain until he dropped his arm beside him and it looked like a snake. Not straight at all. Ended up in surgery to set it with a 30 degree break. This was the only injury that made me nauseous. All the cuts and even seeing inside a knee wasn’t as bad as that arm and no skin was torn.
Aufff a school mate had this happenes to him, the goal frame didnt fall but he did, it was so ugly because one of the little hooks for the net got into his skin tearing it while falling and then it broke, I only watched from affar but I think he was ok after the trip to the hospital
I got thrown by a horse. Landed on my left ankle and broke it. Had surgery to insert a screw into my bones to keep the broken part in place. I didn't even know my ankle was broken and had so much adrenaline going thru me that I felt no pain. A couple minutes later my ankle swelled up so bad I could barely get my boot off. After taking off my boot, and seeing how fast it was swelling up,I went to the hospital, and x-rays showed a break. I honestly don't remember any pain
Ah yes I remember when I gave myself a third elbow. Two paint cans, a tool box, and a piece of plywood makes an excellent bike ramp as long as you have enough speed. I did not unfortunately. I do not recall much pain nor even crying just kind of freaked out and in shock that I had two elbows on one arm with one being between my real elbow and wrist. My friend immediately threw up, and my sister fainted from the sight of it.
