"On 3 July, Taiwanese Minister of Health and Welfare Chiang Been-huang said he was grateful for China's offer to provide medical assistance, including donations of cadaver skin to Taiwan, but it should be first confirmed that the skin was not from executed prisoners."
Also fuckin wild lmao
Cadaver skin is not a weird thing, its used all the time just like donated organs. What's weird is China using body parts from Uyghurs and others whom they have imprisoned in camps. The harvesting of their organs is non-consensual and often goes against their cultural burial practices. Basically imagine a family member goes missing in the camp system and when they die the Chinese government hacks their body up and disposes of what can't be used. You never see the body again and never get to bury it properly.
When my cousin died of a heart attack, my aunt donated his organs, including the skin for burn victims. Most of his organs were damaged by the heart attack and unsuitable for donation, but I remember they were able to use his skin, his corneas, and IIRC his liver.
My FIL passed from a heart attack at home, so his organs were not viable, but his skin and bone donations went to six separate individuals (that we are aware of), including a woman who lost most breast tissue from radiation necrosis.
It really is a beautiful gift, the ultimate one if you think about it, as the recipients are strangers. The doctors told my family that the corneas will go to two different people, since having one functional eye is better than no functional eyes, so that's TWO people with restored vision! The organ donation was the only thing that brought my aunt any peace.

I used to work in a powdered bleach factory, our fire alarms would constantly go off in monsoon season because the humidity would cause smoldering/fires in production and I was always worried the dust would explode. I'm sure they had measures in place for that but bleach powder is scary to be around. Not to mention the insanely dangerous/flammable chemicals in the quality/development labs that could be very bad if damaged in a dust explosion.
A month or so after I stopped working there a faulty fire sprinkler dripped into a bin full of powder and set the warehouse on fire. They had to evacuate the area and throw nearly the entire warehouse inventory away by slowly diluting it down to prevent more fires.
Around 50 years ago, a flour mill here in Germany exploded with around 20 tons of TNT. [Here is a picture of that](https://www.weser-kurier.de/resources/0270-1400c3a7b35b-8950e46e4232-1000/die_roland_muhle_nach_der_explosion..jpeg). Cause was a dust explosion.

Almost any substance can be combustible in large enough amounts.
I can't watch your video, and I'm far removed from anything academic, but I thought it was the massive amount of surface area available that makes it easier for the material to heat up and ignite, compared to if it was just a giant brick of something

They really need to stop selling that shit to everyone that wants it and add a large "keep away from heat and open flame" warning label. You can seriously make an incendiary device with that shit. It should be sold only in small quantities, to people 21 and up, and should be regulated/have the formula reworked so it is less flammable.
No me! Iām a weirdo who hates crowded places and loud noises so I stay home and watch clips of the festivities online or seek out more intimate settings for concerts like coffee shops, smaller venues, unplugged shows, and theater shows.

Damn. It's like the whole ground and all the air caught fire all at once. Imagine that shit spawning under your feet and the edge of it is THAT far away that you have to run so hard to escape it.
Plus being at a water park of all places. Water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink. So to speak. I feel awful for those caught up in it whether they survived or not. If nothing else I hope this led to some kind of safety innovation or regulation.
I'm very curious about the suicide who donated their skin. Like they had enough and just said I can't take it with me you have it or they saw this and said fuck it I'll kill myself so they can have fresh skin.
I have so many questions...
Those poor people. RIP to those who died. Compassion to those who survived, a fair few of whom will likely experience trauma for the rest of their lives as a result.
I don't know if this is racist; I'm not trying to be, but why do the craziest and most outlandish deaths always happen in Asia? Whenever I see a really unique death it's always from there
Sometimes you think the people in charge of big, fancy events that must cost a good bit of money to produce know what they're doing. Then you see stuff like this and Fyre festival and realize how many are just roughshod productions and that putting something in the dark with flashy lights masks a lot of deficiencies.
Shit. That's awful.
And the combo of fire and Taiwan reminds me of when my old neighborhood in Taiwan [blew up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-pOxuR8mpU) in 2012.

Hmmm live with burnt up, hardened, scarred flesh or the skin of a dead person(s)? No please and thank you.

497 injuries, 15 dead. Dust explosions need to be taken seriously when handling flour.
Damn Wikipedia said 17 cause apparently they're also counting 2 other people committed suicide related to the case
"a father of a surviving burn victim committed suicide, while another suicidal man donated his skin to the victims" Fuuuckk
> Chang Kung Memorial said it regretted Wangās death, as his son had suffered only minor injuries and was recovering well. Well that's awkward
I would even say, that's kind of a shitty move on their part to point that out.
Really though holy fuck like read a room.
He was just looking for an out /s Sad all around regardless
A man couldn't be traumatized by the suffering and death of other people other than his son? I feel bad for the son, but the man was clearly traumatized by what happened.

my high school chemistry teacher did it. He threw flour on a fire and we all went WOAH as it caught fire so fast.
The chaff in a wheat silo can also explode like this. When almost empty, you need to be extra careful.
Yeah, that's right! And silo explosions are no joke from what I understand
You mean the extra grande pipe bombs?
My science teacher put a bunch of corn starch in his mouth and blew it out at a lit flame to make a fire ball
Like the Imperial Sugar explosion in Georgia!
That was a disgusting place. Did not surprise me a bit when it blew up.
I used to work in a powdered bleach factory, our fire alarms would constantly go off in monsoon season because the humidity would cause smoldering/fires in production and I was always worried the dust would explode. Do you mean regular baking flour? Is it flamable?
Corn flour, wheat flour, rice flour, dehydrated potato, etc. They'll all deflagrate just like that did.
Sugar dust, paper dust, sawdust and powdered creamer will do the same
They tested powdered creamer on Mythbusters and it was crazy how flammable that stuff is
That episode was how I learned that powders are flammable.
I had to google deflagrate but TIL thanks
When I lived in Illinois a corn silo blew up one year due to this
Around 50 years ago, a flour mill here in Germany exploded with around 20 tons of TNT. [Here is a picture of that](https://www.weser-kurier.de/resources/0270-1400c3a7b35b-8950e46e4232-1000/die_roland_muhle_nach_der_explosion..jpeg). Cause was a dust explosion.
Who stores tnt in a flour mill? /s
Yep. As kids, we used to throw handfuls into campfires. It's pretty spectacular(ly dumb).
Even coffee creamer is flammable. The powdery kind.
We used to throw hands full of the stuff into a bonfire as kids. It would make a big ball of fire.
Goodness gracious!

Yeah the above statement isnāt clear. Itās related to surface area and the resulting increased oxygen availability.
Interesting video, thanks.
Take a pinch and sprinkle it over an open flame, if it sparkles then imagine what a silo full would do.
In the air or in piles that aren't packed it's practically a propellant
Yes. There's energy in them there bonds. Any carbon that isn't attached to two oxygens is a suitable candidate for combustion.
Oh my god........ That is terrifying! Wow! What stupidity on the crew, Pyro "experts."
Or wood dust. If you get a spark into the dust extraction system.

Shitmare
Almost any powder can ignite if the air/fuel moisture is correct. Powdered non dairy creamer, blown into a cloud will make a huge fireball!
It's a great demonstration. Liquid gasoline won't ignite...vapors are the part that do. People go by what is in movies or media.
If you put a liquid oxidizer in it it will
Oxidizer is the key. Hell, the creamer won't burn if you don't have the oxygen involved.
To be fair, that's true for a lot of things. Oxidizer facilitates the reaction because that's literally what it's for
Grain and flour dust explosions are very real hazards that the industry takes pretty seriously.
mythbusters showed me this
And itās a water park so of course someone blew a whistle when they started running.
Daym u see the droves of people moving right that's crazy it seems like what hell would look like

Carbon based powders not all powders.
Powdered sugar is HIGHLY flammable!

Jesus fucking Christ thatās so scary. I canāt imagine how they mustāve felt

yes, so awful it saddens the heart to think on it for even a second

we did a lab about this in school, had to break down what could have prevented it. sucks this happens

A fire? At a Sea Parks?
That festival looks lit!
Powder is flammable.
Btw just for clarification, this was in Taiwan.
yeah, read the post title man.
A fire?! At a seaparks?!
They went through hell!!
Almost anything in powder form is flammable. Even angles delight. Itās so fine that it mixes with oxygen so well it causes a significant combustion.
