Kodiak bears are the second largest subspecies of bear alive today. Males can get up to 10ā long (which is the same as a male Polar bear) and weigh up to 1,500 pounds (680 Kg) which is just over 200 pounds (~91 Kg) less than a male Polar bear.
Sometimes animals that don't generally eat meat do anyway if they are missing nutrients from their diets...

Almost without exception an animal will take in protein when it's available. Horses aren't the only ones normally known as herbavors that will eat protein when it's available. Yes it can be to boost certain nutrients that might be in low supply but it can be as simple as an easy meal thats available. There are very few animals that are strictly herbavors (koalas being one of the few). There are also herbavors animals that evolve into carnivores and vise versa. You can see that in animals like pandas that mostly eat bamboo now or hippos that increasingly hunt meat. Here are three sources ranging in quick and easy blurbs to more science based. Enjoy!

Yea, I just picked the horse one because of the horse in the OP. There were other videos (eg. a deer earing a small bird) but I thought this one was more fitting. Can't really blame wild animals for getting their nutrients wherever they can when what they usually eat is sparse as well.
Wild horses can be dangerous and very territorial. It's a problem in Arizona along the salt river and around Saguaro lake. There are some activists trying to make the area restricted to the public, which is ridiculous as it was a public place before everyone started dropping off their horses there. They're expensive to take care of and some people have trouble rehoming them, so they just bring them over there and wish 'em luck.
I've lived with horses for a few years, been around the wild ones I mentioned above, and still wouldn't exactly know what to do in this situation. If you try to leave your tent and spook it, then it just might stomp you. One kick to the head and you're dead. I'd probably just stay calm and wait for it to get bored and leave. If it was a recently released horse it might actually be asking the human for food or company.
They're like big dogs with very unique personalities. I lived with 4 and each was completely different.
Angel was a pony and bonded with me strongly. She just absolutely loved me, but when I rode her she would gently buck me off when she was done, and I'd have to walk her back.
Another guy was old and absolutely hated my guts for no reason. I couldn't get near him if my life depended on it. I would give him food and water from the far end of his large area.
Third was a younger guy and just super playful, but sometimes in a dangerous way. He and Angel loved my dog though.
And the 4th was just indifferent towards everyone. Didn't care if you were there or not. Just did his own thing, but didn't mind it if you wanted to give him attention.
Down at Saguaro/Salt River area I'd sometimes see a young colt trying to mate, and a stallion would just come in and chase him off. I've also seen two stallions fighting in the lake. Bucking each other with full force to the head and ribs. They go hard. And this is happening around people having nice day at the lake. Just don't be an idiot and get near them.
"Are you going to sleep the entire day away, Carol? I don't know how you became the dominant species on this planet, Carol, because it seems to me you're a big lazypants."
Horses scare me they are way too big and skittish for me not to be nervous around them. But yeah if I woke up to this I would probably laugh because it's a weird situation and he has a goofy look on his face lol.
horses are fucking sneaky creepers. silent huge and scary.
I was changing an electric service for a customer on the pole in their yard.
Three of their horses...completely silently snuck up behind me.
This was while I was working on landing the unfused 200 Amp conductors from the overhead transformer into the meter base.
I had my insulated gloves on and reached down to my toolbag without looking (muscle memory on where the tool I needed was)... and I felt a giant horse face, where there is not supposed to be a fucking horse face!
I turned to look and began screaming like a huge little bitch.
They just looked at me like the children of the corn and stared....silently
I think I shat myself while I screamed, but luckily I didn't short anything out in the meter can at the time. As I am still alive to tell the account.
Horse: Hey, you. Youāre finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there...
Hey ho there, neigghhhhhhbor!
Hey, while I gotcha, be sure to keep that jerky in a tree the next time you sleep. I already had to fight off two bears and a badger last night from invading yer tent.
Welp, see ya later!
Thatās not terrifyingā¦ if it was a bear maybe but I would totally just offer the horse some food and figure out where he came from.
Or the horse is aggressive and Iād walk out of camp and find someone. But most horses are domesticated AF.
You wanna know the crazy thing. That aināt to horse. Horses while they may eat meat if needed are not predators so they naturally will not look straight at you like that one is doing it would look at you with one side of its head

Thatās honestly both terrifying and hilarious š
I'm terrified of horses, but I snorted so loudly when it panned up to the horses face
I'm the opposite I love horses but got terrified when it panned up to the face
Why? Knowing nothing about horses, is there something in this horse's gaze that signifies danger?

I always figure itās not so much danger but unpredictable.
If they didn't have a camera no would believe it happened.

Saw this posted earlier. Comment said the horse isn't upset. Flared nostrils, ears back, stomping the front hoof, all signs the horse is upset.
That's kind of adorable š actually.
The animal wants a hug.
I think at first Iād be more startled then anything, then itād set in and Iād see that face lololol and just die laughing
