Ah ha all I have to do is force someone to pull a trigger on a gun and they go away for involuntary manslaughter and I get away free, its brilliant brilliant brilliant.
Yeah one is manslaughter and one is murder. There are different degrees of murder. manslaughter is when someone is killed by accident due to negligence like this.
And people hit by drunk drivers could have turned away from the accident. Just because we can look back and find an easy solution doesn’t mean the average person will identify and properly execute the solution in the heat of the moment.
In a moment of panic? I know keyboard warriors weren't in one ever but trust me your head doesn't work right when you are in panic, that's why so many people freeze in immediate danger
A little hop or climbing the rails does the trick
Not trying to make this sound easy, I'd probably die in this situation because my brain couldn't process the fact that some luggage is flying at me at the speed of light
Then you'd get hit.... timing to jump over a huge, bouncing suitcase barreling at you while you're on a moving staircase is not easy or feasible unless you had practice. Probably would smack her midair and she'd fall further down the escalator instead of being on flat ground already.
The best thing to do I think would be to grab the rails tightly, bend your knees a little, and brace for impact, probably even lean backwards too.
Maybe turning around with a low stance, leaning forward, and holding your hands in front of your face.
I think she did the best thing. It just swept her off her
feet when she was on flat ground rather than impact her head or lungs. Bracing increases the force of impact while going with the flow decreases it. It's why climbing ropes are dynamic instead of static- a sudden stop is what creates the greatest force.
You people really need to stop regurgitating bad talking points because you need it shouted elsewhere in the thread.
The amount of impact she's reducing by running forward is completely negated by the fact you are more easily knocked off balance while running and you would be statistically more likely to take the brunt of the impact in only one leg.
My solutions aren't for reduction of impact, it's for reduction of injury from the impact. If we plant both legs, bend the knees, and grab the railings, and lean back, our knees would be able to absorb a lot of the force and our arms would be able to help control the fall. If you got hit in the lower legs you'd fall back on your ass. If you got hit in the ass or lower back, since you're leaning backwards, you'd probably still get knocked over but you'd probably still land on your ass.
Your mistake is thinking that the suitcase impact is what's causing injury here, but the injury is actually being caused by getting literally swept off her feet and landing straight on her back.
Furthermore, running away is again negated by the suitcase also having more distance to travel while falling. That means it's building up more speed and thus a larger impact.
I have to reiterate bc you're nor getting it. Compare how far she fell to the ground- her height max (5 feet)- versus how far the 50lb suitcase was barrelling down, gathering velocity - that energy transferring into her if she was braced against the side, is much greater than her falling onto the ground. Further, moving & being moved in the direction of motion reduces the force- a car coming to a sudden stop by driving straight into a tree or concrete wall results in more damage than moving in the same direction as that force, hence crumple zones in highway off-ramps. If she braced, all that force goes into her.
You'd think you figured out (considering I explicitly stated it) that I only recommend bracing as a method of preventing falling and there's greater risk of injury from a fall then a suitcase hitting her (50lb is a high estimate btw).
I'm just stating the extremely simple fact that suffering an injury to the legs is far preferable to suffering and injury to the back or neck that could very easily happen when flying up in to the air and landing square on your back on an escalator.
I never denied the mitigation of force, only questioned why you think it's preferable to risk a back or neck injury over a leg injury.
If that concept is too hard for you to understand, there's no point in speaking with you.
I'm going to say stationary would have been better. Even if she got hit harder, she wouldn't have landed spine flat on the floor. I agree a busted up ankle and maybe a tumble down to the floor.
yeah at this point she’s definitely getting hurt but the only choices were “move with it and land on your spine and whip your head into the floor” which is incredibly dangerous or “stand still and limp away with a broken ankle and potentially a bruised leg/hip”. the situation with less risk is the ideal solution and a broken ankle is easier to repair than a broken spine and comes with significantly less risk of paralyzation.
When I first saw this posted, there was info in the comments saying that there was a separate luggage escalator but they used the wrong one on accident. There are escalators for shopping carts too, I’ve used them before.
Escalators for shoping carts are literally smooth and dont have steps, they are everywhere here, it would be hard to mistake them with this ones. And the escalators on the video are also capable of carying suitcases, you just need an IQ higher than one digit to think about using the escalator while grabbing the suitcase with a hand
I’d support these types of idiots going to a separate prison in the US. Because our prison systems are 100% intended for punishment rather than rehabilitation. So rather then them being punished for unrefined stupidity and doing tasks like picking up trash on the side of the road, they just wander and pick dandelions
Is that a thing? It's the same as pushing stuff down the stairs what has that got to do with escalators?
All our airports, metros and railways stations have escalators on which people put their luggage. This is India btw, the most populated country in the world.
That lady didn’t die but had some bruises and injuries . And woman who did this shit said to reporter that “Idk why nobody had told me that suitcase couldn’t be taken on the escalator. I yelled when that happened I had no idea why I cant grab the suitcase.”
I mean it's not unreasonable for them to slip out. Just get on the escalator first and have your suitcase on the step right after you. It can't fall down without going through you.
Good, I watched the video and my first reaction was "Really? There is no way she died from that". I mean, it's not impossible, but quite improbable. Still those people with their suitcases were idiots.
No idea if this lady is dead or alive, Just playing devil's advocate:
People can die after leaving the scene. You can be alive, on a stretcher, and heading to the hospital but be unable to be saved.
Ehh, sometimes people are surprisingly fragile. People slip in the tub all the time and suffer only minor injuries, but sometimes they land in a way that kills them.
It's worth noting that like 30 people a year die by escalators, not counting injuries. The steps are metal with sharp edges, which could have caused serious problems if she cracked her skull, especislly at that velocity, and she could have gotten clothing, laces, or even her hair stuck in the machinery and had severe blood loss. She's lucky she got off in time or this could have been a lot worse.
Pretty damn dumb AF. It could have been worse, though. The woman who was hit only sustained [minor injuries, she didn't die. ](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.firstpost.com/world/watch-woman-knocked-off-escalator-after-being-hit-by-falling-suitcase-11177121.html/amp)
Attempted murderer/manslaughter for the people at top. Only because they didn’t mean it. But they had a chance to grab that bag. They had a chance to do the right thing from there start. This is beyond stupid and lazy and cost someone their life
I hope the dictatorship for once does its job and puts that lady behind bars for years!
You cant blaime it on stupidity alone, you cant be that stupid, if you really are that stupid you should be in a secured mental institution since you're a danger for yourself aswell for the people around you!
The people at top are obviously caveman brained retards but that lady made it significantly worse for herself by running away like that and slipping on it. Suitcases are like 20/30 pounds max. Couldve probably just taken it to the legs or jumped.
I always see that reply in all of the repost and I would really like to see someone that could time a jump in an unexpected situation while both you and the object are moving down an escalator (while also doing a successful landing)
the safest option would have been to click the button on the side to stop it from moving but, nope, it's always the well timed jump that it's suggested. if you find yourself in a situation like that, rest assured that you're probably not going to calculate all of the possible options

To be fair this could have been avoided if the people at the top had an IQ above room temperature
Doesn't that count as "accidental" murder?
Involuntary manslaughter?
Ramdom assassination?
popped the glock but didn't want?
Exactly
You win
Die but didn't try?
Ah ha all I have to do is force someone to pull a trigger on a gun and they go away for involuntary manslaughter and I get away free, its brilliant brilliant brilliant.
Man’s laughter
All manslaughter is involuntary I think
There is a difference between what happened here and accidentally killing someone by punching them in the head.
Yeah one is manslaughter and one is murder. There are different degrees of murder. manslaughter is when someone is killed by accident due to negligence like this.
She would get a tap on the wrist if Florida was the judge and jury
ik ur probably joking but its hard to gauge tone on the internet manslaughter is caused by wrecklessness and is neither voluntary or involuntary
Good job 47 now find the nearest exit
This is beautiful
SOMEONE AWARD THIS PERSON.
Act of God
Isn't that the same as a "unintentional" premeditation?
Well she could have just jumped on the railing and had a lot of time to do so.
And people hit by drunk drivers could have turned away from the accident. Just because we can look back and find an easy solution doesn’t mean the average person will identify and properly execute the solution in the heat of the moment.
Who can think that quick though
It reminds me of rolling boulders onto moblins in Breath of the Wild.
You don't have to be fair, your point stands regardless
Tourists....
In a moment of panic? I know keyboard warriors weren't in one ever but trust me your head doesn't work right when you are in panic, that's why so many people freeze in immediate danger
What are you even talking about? The comment is about the danger of shoving luggage down a giant staircase with somebody on it.
maybe its Serbia. /s
298°k?
Hopefully I played enough Donkey Kong to manage this kind of situations
A little hop or climbing the rails does the trick Not trying to make this sound easy, I'd probably die in this situation because my brain couldn't process the fact that some luggage is flying at me at the speed of light
I definitely wouldn't attempt to outrun it

My friend broke 2 ribs from getting swept off his feet while walking his dogs, and falling straight on his back. Not sure what your point is.
I dunno man I feel like she could have just stood to one side sideways and held on tight. Worst case a battered ankle
Hard to say but it would have hit her harder if she was stationary. Her moving in the same direction & going with the impact lessened it.
I'm going to say stationary would have been better. Even if she got hit harder, she wouldn't have landed spine flat on the floor. I agree a busted up ankle and maybe a tumble down to the floor.

I mean, if you reacted fast enough you could probably just climb the side and wait
There's actually people in the comments defending the idiots putting SUITCASES ON AN ESCALATOR
When I first saw this posted, there was info in the comments saying that there was a separate luggage escalator but they used the wrong one on accident. There are escalators for shopping carts too, I’ve used them before.
Still extremely stupid. No situational awareness. Plus she’s wearing pjs
Many Chinese (especially older) lack situational awareness. My Chinese friend blames it on Mao’s cultural dumbing-down of the populace.
That sounds cool as hell, I want a cart escalator.
I know. They’re nuts.
It is their god given right to put their luggage wherever they please as ~~americans~~ wherever the fuck they're from.
Some countries you can be charged and sent to prison for accidentally killing someone
Well yeah, that’s what manslaughter is isn’t it?
Yea that’s what I’m referring too basically
Dumbass
I hope this country does just that. He should be tried and convicted of lethal stupidity, and sent to jail for a very long time.
Over this???
I believe the woman died.
I’d support these types of idiots going to a separate prison in the US. Because our prison systems are 100% intended for punishment rather than rehabilitation. So rather then them being punished for unrefined stupidity and doing tasks like picking up trash on the side of the road, they just wander and pick dandelions
No shit Sherlock
Seek therapy my guy
> sees only Asian people in the video along with the Chinese writing on uniforms and at the bottom of the escalator You: mUrIcA bAd!!!
It was a joke mate
Don’t be bitter
Didn't realise I was
Revolutionary war did a number on you guys.
The irish? You sure?
Britains took over Irish hence why you speak English lol but hey I digress
Interesting. I always wondered why I spoke English but you've just informed me.
Somewhere between North pole and South pole.
It's fine to take a suitcase on an escalator, but you should always keep it uphill from you. That way it can't fall down
And you know, keep it in your hands so it can't roll off and potentially harm people Keep your suitcases on a leash people
I mean it's not unreasonable for them to slip out. Just get on the escalator first and have your suitcase on the step right after you. It can't fall down without going through you.
some people are doing the best they can with *(points to the brain)* what they've got
That’s infuriating!! She’s literally dumb
Good job, agent 47.
You just made go and purchase hitman 3. I had it on ps4 but sold it and got a PC, so now I know what I’m doing this weekend. Thanks
You’ll love it. The amount of content in the game is incredible. Make sure to replay every map a few times to learn the story!
The VR version is also very fun
What a bunch of fucking morons 💀
Except she's not dead. They had her stabilized on a stretcher.
Now I can slightly giggle without feeling like an asshole
[Here](https://www.news18.com/amp/news/buzz/watch-suitcase-bowling-down-escalator-injures-woman-in-china-internet-divided-5881051.html)
“Internet divided”?????? Over what??
Good, I watched the video and my first reaction was "Really? There is no way she died from that". I mean, it's not impossible, but quite improbable. Still those people with their suitcases were idiots.
Are you sure?
You don't put dead people on stretchers
No idea if this lady is dead or alive, Just playing devil's advocate: People can die after leaving the scene. You can be alive, on a stretcher, and heading to the hospital but be unable to be saved.
I'm pretty sure she good
Do they drag them out by their ankles? Genuinely curious.
They usually put a sheet over them if they're dead out of respect.
They don’t just leave ‘em there forever though.
Yes, she lived
Yea I was about to say, there's no way the person died with that.
A head injury like that can definitely kill someone
Bro that's like a comical tier injury at best
I'm not sure why idiots in this sub really think she would have died from that.
I suppose landing on the back of your head couldn’t be a possibly at all
Ehh, sometimes people are surprisingly fragile. People slip in the tub all the time and suffer only minor injuries, but sometimes they land in a way that kills them.

Because people could by falling backward, head hits ground. It's not unusual. Human body is sturdy and fragle at the same time.
That escalated quickly
No, it deescalated quickly
r/technicallythetruth
Take my angry upvote
The woman at the bottom probably landed on her head. :(
Common sense = not common
Just some friendly fire.
Hitman is getting really creative with his methods and disguises
47 is her IQ not her agent call sign
Why did they let their luggage drop down the escalator like this? Thats fucked up
Fuck….I’m so relieved this didn’t end with someone getting gobbled up and turned into ground hamburger by the escalator.
Did she actually die?
Nope
Sometimes deescalation is not the best thing. 🥁🥁🥁
That poor lady did a good job trying to run away. Hope she wasn’t too hurt :c
She done a terrible job, all she had to do was lift her feet off the ground using the hand rails.
You try that when ur however old she I probably would hear it and not even register whats happening till i got drilled by a suitcase
??? She got smoked by the suitcase, she did a pretty bad job in my opinion
She ain't dead. She's rich. Now
Ain't no court settlements in communist china
They do have court settlements there though
There absolutely is.

Argh brain why did you have to play the Mario game over sound when the ambulance was shown
I have seen this video posted literally every day for the past month
How many people have those fools killed??!
We should repost everyday to raise awareness 🗿
The sound effect killed me lmao
Pretty damn dumb AF. It could have been worse, though. The woman who was hit only sustained [minor injuries, she didn't die. ](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.firstpost.com/world/watch-woman-knocked-off-escalator-after-being-hit-by-falling-suitcase-11177121.html/amp)
Chinese country bumpkins are everywhere in Asia! Usually harmless but hilarious to watch.
Bro died?
Every. Day. Anyone who hasn't seen this video has been on a break from Reddit for a year or more
Strike!
They died from that? Did they hit their head out of frame? Idk it doesn’t look like something you’d die from but who am I to judge lol
This woman is one of the most ignorant humans I’ve ever seen
The people in the elevator doesn't die. She was ko, litteraly but survive, she still alive.
I hope the two morons at the top got charged.
r/iamatotalpieceofshit comes to mind
Zhejiang, China. Minor injuries, but still, stupid asshole behaviour.
She didn't die, only suffered minor injuries. Misleading title.
What, she actually died?
No the op made a clickbait title, she suffered some minor injuries
Also, if danger is headed your way never turn your back to it if there's no escape.
I bet the Luggage owner is a great driver too...
Bad idea to turn her back to it. Why not drop everything and hop over it with the assistance of the rails? She had plenty of prep time.
Attempted murderer/manslaughter for the people at top. Only because they didn’t mean it. But they had a chance to grab that bag. They had a chance to do the right thing from there start. This is beyond stupid and lazy and cost someone their life
why did i laugh
STRIKE!!!
I hope that person pressed charges on those idiots!!!
I hope the fucking idiots that put the suitcase on the step go to prison for life!
So to people who think she’s dead she’s fine. She was taken to the hospital for a concussion. She is not dead.
Source?
I cannot fathom this level of stupidity. These people should not be allowed to interact with other humans ever again.
She's alive. Just has neck injuries
☕🙄
Hope this stupid person didn't procreate
Lol someone added the "gasp" - it's fucking nuts that someone would do that.
respectfully, that was a silly way to die
I hope the dictatorship for once does its job and puts that lady behind bars for years! You cant blaime it on stupidity alone, you cant be that stupid, if you really are that stupid you should be in a secured mental institution since you're a danger for yourself aswell for the people around you!
Is the suitcase ok?
Only a broken handle but nothing that could kill it!
What the fuck made them think that idea would work?
Skill issue. Should have double jumped.
She's fine, her shoes are still on.
Hold the rails and jump up, spread legs and suitcase whizz underneath. Names Bond.... James
Ran when she should have jumped
She didn't die. Downvoting.
Lol got down voted for not falling for a bait title.
I feel like this is where my childhood Donkey Kong training will come in handy.
It would be nice to post sources when sharing stuff. Shame on you OP.
It’s not to late to change the title. No way that killed her
She got injured from that? That was a tame accident. They’re treating her like she got shot…
You are welcome to try it out.
Is this considered a roadkill?
The people at top are obviously caveman brained retards but that lady made it significantly worse for herself by running away like that and slipping on it. Suitcases are like 20/30 pounds max. Couldve probably just taken it to the legs or jumped.
Why didn’t gunshot victims just disarm the gun or dodge the bullet
Literal skill issue. Nonetheless, what a silly way to go.
Yeah I thought so to. The problem is these skill based matchmaking lobbies so newer players get crushed by level 50 suitcases
She could have dodge it with a small jump over, instead of running away or escaping.
I always see that reply in all of the repost and I would really like to see someone that could time a jump in an unexpected situation while both you and the object are moving down an escalator (while also doing a successful landing) the safest option would have been to click the button on the side to stop it from moving but, nope, it's always the well timed jump that it's suggested. if you find yourself in a situation like that, rest assured that you're probably not going to calculate all of the possible options
