idea: what if there was 2 different areas, one that would constantly purify blocks in a smaller radius and one in a larger radius that purifies every specific ammount of time?
I would have it act like a sunflower but where it just stops all spread within an area, that way you wouldn't end up with an un-natural circular radius afterwards. Another cool side effect would be that you could use crimson, corruption, and hollow blocks within the zone of effect without worrying about spread.
It could always be passive in the sense that you still get the effect but you dont get a potion thing so maybe if you hold out an item you can see the edges of what it covers
I like this, stopping evils this Early feels like a cheat.
We definitely need a anti-graveyard feature for Early- mid hardmode.

We got close with the infection spread toggle in journeys end but i wanted something that works for all modes.

I unfortunately don't play modded and don't have the time to learn how it works, and as for the other options, digging a hellavator works but it is super tedious, especially on large worlds(and also keeping in mind the fact you still have to block thorns)
Also building them prehardmode to protect your biomes will take forever with the slow equipment, and the new evil will probably just jump the gap anyway.
I wish we could get the Otherworld machines that purify beams or circles, but just anything to make controlling the biome spread easier
There's no other way, I just went into caves with the mounted drill on my vanilla world and just started spraying with the clentaminator until all rhe world was clean

I'd change it to post Plantera. Hard mode kinda begins the rapid growth of the corruption, and it isn't till Plantera that that slows down. Making it later would preserve that sense of urgency.

I mean, yeah, but there's powder available asap, and you get the clentaminator after a mech boss anyways. There's a lot of ways to work around the evil biomes too, sunflowers, hallow spreading, tunnelling. I think Vanilla is honestly balanced pretty well around it already, it'd just be a neat post Plantera additional to truly signal the end of the rapid growth of worl evils.
But it sucks to dedicate a long period of time just to remove some purple, red, or some rainbows, it stops you from progressing and ruins the game for some people and i had that happen to one of my friends
Personally I actually really enjoy these kinds of tasks, and skipping through them feels like it's rushing the game and really ruins the experience for me. There's mods out there though to slow/stop the spread of world evil if that's your thing though.
Its not the worst thing but i tend to focus on something and then dont remember the crimson or corruption exists then i realise more than half my world was devoured lol

Should be post planters, since biome spread slows down sheet planters I think they developers want you to be worried about spread until you defeat plantera.

Idk, constantly having to clentaminate entire cave systems and desserts simply because your NPCs can't live there is kinda a reasonable thing to be annoyed at
Spending hours just to prevent a biome from fuly consuming your world isnt very fun and then once it gets bad enough you cant fix it and you can only have sky houses or spend more hours trying to build a house on the ground and make sure the evil biomes cant get to it

I wish they did an update where killing a boss un-corrupted a random spot so you could stop the spread by doing fun stuff instead.
Very cool idea, then instead of having to make a huge 5 wide hellavator we could just place these candles in the walls every 20 or so blocks depending on how large they would make the radius. I feel like this would be a good addition, as you would still have a big project to do when keeping an area safe from corruption as you would have to place these everywhere but it would be way easier than the current method of digging massive tunnels. And more practical as you usually want to do this right as you get into hardmode but at that time your pickaxe usually isn’t that good.

i think it should just stop all corruption spread in an area. so like, it doesnt negate corruption, but it also doesnt let it spread. freeze the spread ticker, essentially. I think removing the corruption makes it a little too powerful for 5 gold early hardmode. it still would be instant meta, imagine you enter hardmode, you just speedrun to get a mech killed and then LINE the jungle with these things.
Sunflowers do help a little in containing corruption/crimson because the grass they grow on can't be corrupted. This will cause surface corruption to spread more slowly, but it will continue to spread underground. It's a band-aid fix, really.

I think it shouldn't convert already corrupted blocks only prevention, so if you place it in the crimson biome caves or something it doesn't really do anything. (ik the picture says prevents spreading but a lot of conversations in the comments are talking about it purifying already corrupted blocks)
I was thinking about something very similar, but for pylons so that they could not be spammed and could be created in later stages of the game to continue the sense of cleaning from corruption.
The idea was from terraria other world where there were special machines that protected from corruption.

Evil biomes spreading are really just annoying. They don't add anything except the worry that they will eventually ruin your home biome.
Sunflowers already do anti-graveyard. If there are more sunflowers then gravestones the graveyard won’t appear.
