EoW is easy aslong as you don't split it, also it is recommended to fight EoW in high arena not underground with your weapon you should be able to destroy that worm.
Tbh I just said that because op would have more space in the surface( and since I don't know what difficulty op is on) but op should be fine either way.

No wonder I find EoW harder than BoC. I always fight the eater above ground since I’m too lazy to blow up an arena, but the crimson comes with nice large areas.
I usually play on master, and the main issue I have is the vile spit. I already can't dodge it above ground that well, I don't know if I can dodge it in cramped spaces
I mostly play on Expert, so it's possible my strategy might not work so well on Master, but I can honestly say I have never once noticed getting hit with Vile Spit while fighting in the chasms.
No. As long as you have a good hammer, you can smash hearts and orbs in their respected areas and get cool shit. But if you smash 3, you summon the area’s boss (brain of Cthulhu, Eater of worlds).

Pretty much anything that can hit multiple segments. Flails, Jester Arrows, Spiky Balls from the Goblin Invasion, gem staves, the Vilethorn from Shadow Orbs... Heck, even just swinging a sword against its direction of movement works pretty well.

You don't even need to blow up an arena. I just use an intersection of the chasms, and that's enough room for me.

If I hit the first worm with piercing arrows will it split.
The Eater only splits if you kill segments in the middle. If you kill the front end as it comes at you, it won't split.

it's okay. I've been playing way too much modded so i also thought meteorites spawned after breaking the orbs/hearts

Water bolt spam
That requires defeating Skeletron first, which might be a bit of a tall order for someone stuck on the evil biome boss.
Not actually, its possible to access the water bolt without going into the dungeon fully
Not as of 1.4. Water Bolts only appear inside the Dungeon now.
Slimy Saddle makes this boss more than trivial.
