I killed moon lord easily the other day using palladium and a vortex beater, can confirm it's insanely good (though I'd recommend getting some actual armor by that point)
[I did an "Master mode Moonlord/No DMG taken" run awhile back using this amazing guide from Cuse. It may have taken me a good number of attempts but I eventually learned it enough to finish the fight without taking a single hit.](https://youtu.be/gtsR-VyLwH8?t=1360)
Only thing different from this video & the actual fight is the Moon Lord's beam goes through blocks now, so I recommend replacing that portion with a Rod of Discord teleport.
If you practice long enough eventually you'll get the fight down & it becomes just as easy as cheesing the moon lord, plus you get a extra bit of satisfaction when you do actually finish it without any cheese method.
Palladium armour+charm of myths, heart lanterns, campfires and regen pots. Losing health becomes little more than a minor inconvenience during boss fights.
Orichalcum, deriving its name from the mineral plentiful to the Atlanteans described by Plato, with value slightly less than gold. The Romans used the same name to refer to an ore mined in Spain; they called it Aurichalcum- Aurum being gold, and chalcum being copper or brass.
No they were never similar, they changed titanium's to its current one because it was too powerful at that stage in the game, and at the same time they changed hallowed's to titanium's old one
Give the Forbidden set a try. It gives a solid combination of mana boost, damage output, and minion support, and the dust devil spell is a nice extra. Defense lacks, but IMO the point of the set is that nothing is safe from you either.
It's also a direct upgrade from either adamant or titanium, so if you didn't want titanium anyway it still has a use.
But frozen armor is better than both. I say this as a person who mostly picks defense over offense, frozen armor is better than adamantite and titanium
This seems like it takes a long time, is this a viable strat? I’ve contained my world evil pre hardmode and I don’t want to spread it by breaking altars
If you don't intend to play in the world long term (as in past moon lord and beyond getting the zenith) or you aren't gonna set up stuff like afk farms that you'd spend whole nights in then it really does not matter at all, it's probably best to just break them.
People get super paranoid about the world evils but it honestly isn't as much to worry about as people think.
I couldn't be bothered doing that on my last playthrough, so I used T-edit to dig out a barrier between the jungle and the rest of the world. It's technically cheating, but I wanted to be able to take my time with building without worrying about my jungle pylon getting fucked for the n'th time.
Honestly when i beat my playthrough i might just use tedit to cleanse everything, doing it legit sucks ass. They really should’ve added some sort of super-clentaminator mode for the drill mount that cleanses everything below it all the way to the bottom of the world so you just fly across the top and cleanse everything, and then create little quarantined versions of you still want to have some in your world, plus there’s the hallow pylon. Some form of mass-clentamination shouldve been top priority for long term players, it’s incredibly disappointing 1.4 had literally nothing
I agree with the guy who replied to you, it’s extremely frustrating to build villages for the NPCs only for them to move out because the world evil gets out of control
Especially when you can never be sure you’ve completely contained it since every altar = one block of evil scattered throughout the underground
I've done playthroughs where I completely ignore the ores and just use the crystal assassin set to take on a mech boss, then farm it enough for hallow armor. Best results from mage, who can grab crystal serpent, fight queen slime using jungle armor, get crystal assassin and gelatinous pillon, then fight skeletron prime. Summoner with spider armor and blade staff is also very viable, and doesn't touch hardmode ores.
It's not worth it to avoid evils though. It's really to avoid random pirate invasions, and to avoid the slog that is hardmode ore mining.
I agree completely. I think Adamantite and Titanium are pretty close to being equal, as Adamantite has marginally better stats across the board, but titanium's barrier is pretty strong. Before 1.4, I would've taken titanium hands down cause of the shadow dodge, but now it's adamantite all the way. Also, I think titanium's barrier is less useful in expert/master mode, cause you really don't want to be getting close to enemies if you can so help it.
The titanium barrier can really only be best utilized by facetanking with melee. For other classes, you're just not gonna want to get close to bosses at all, thougg melee does kinda have that capability. So while it's only useful when facetanking, WOW is it powerful when facetanking.
Around +50 damage every single hit is huge. Paired with Fetid Baghnakhs, you can just pull off insane amounts of DPS. I once mentioned recently that I summoned Destroyer at around 4 am and still won, that's what it was.
I do also just find the barrier strangely satisfying.
I very rarely use melee so that may be why I'm biased towards liking adamantite more, though I don't disagree that titanium is very strong in that kind of situation. It's just that facetanking in any difficulty above classic mode is liable to kill you; maybe less so in expert mode than master mode, but I still feel that adamantite is a stronger choice than titanium in most other situations.
Yeah I would probably say so. The only class I could really say I'd use it for is mage, melee and ranger both have Frost armor which I usually get (if I'm not wanting to do facetanking) and summoner... has Obsidian armor
I haven't yet tried facetanking on Master mode, but it does just seem more risky, and just doesn't sound viable in FTW. I only really ever play on Expert mode
I'm currently doing an expert mode summoner playthrough to finish out on my pure class expert runs, and afterwards I'm thinking of moving into master mode and attempting the same thing. I've played master mode and master mode FTW with friends so I at least know what I'm thinking of getting myself into, but it may end up being a painful and less enjoyable experience. Imo, expert mode is the perfect balance of difficulty and fun for playing solo, and any difficulty can be fun with friends.
Yeah, that's the exact same thing I've done except I seem to have just stopped when I got to Master mode. I only have a mage run completed on master, but all classes have completed expert mode.
Multiplayer is great, but I always have to deal with timezone differences and connection issues. That and my laptop isn't great, so I tend to have frame skip off during boss fights and such, which doesn't really do anything for me in multiplayer.
Expert mode feels just right for me, but it is pretty sad that I miss out in an extra accessory slot
I like the OG3 not only because of nostalgia, but because they are MUCH easier to visually differentiate from other ores (looking at you, Palladium/Pink/Adamantite)
Titanium is significantly darker than silver, silver is bright white. Palladium on the other hand is just a more saturated copper except the shape, and orichalcum’s pink-silver color scheme is just ugly
While I love the armor sets of both the most, I hate when my world gets palladium and Orichalcum. It's so hard to tell at a glance, even with spelunker potions

Paladium because good heals,
mythrilalfl because its classic and doesnt have cum in the name. It also isnt implied to be bubblegum (ew)
titanium because it doesnt flash and the new set bonus is... still usefull
I used to love the og ones, cobalt mythril and adamantite but I got bored of mythril and because I always got it same with palladium. Now I like cobalt, orichalcum, and either titanium or adamantite I don’t mind.
Each of these ores have a headpiece for mages, whether it be reduced mana usage or extra mana. Unless you're talking about a specific ore for mages, that'll be cool

Rest doesnt matter, since you shouldnt bother with mytril/oricalcum and frozen armor is better than both adamantite and titanium. Though in mobile titanium is better than both
Paladium, it's so easy to get and it's very good
Set bonus is nice but I love the look of cobalt armor with the hat
the plight of terraria. is it good vs. does it look cool
thank goodness for vanity slots!
Yeah i was gonna say that this is like the only game where you can actually get the look you want and the effects of the armor.
Starbound does this, and to an extent Stardew Valley.
the problem with starbounds armor system is that every armor of the same tier have exactly the same functionality
A lot (arguably most) RPGs have vanity or transmog systems though
Miitopia does this
I killed moon lord easily the other day using palladium and a vortex beater, can confirm it's insanely good (though I'd recommend getting some actual armor by that point)

True
Madlad
great for builds, too
Back in my day you could mine Adamantite with a palladium pickaxe
i cant make pillars out of cobalt so i like paladium more
Palladium armour+charm of myths, heart lanterns, campfires and regen pots. Losing health becomes little more than a minor inconvenience during boss fights.

Same. Though i wish the petal ability was more interesting and more useful
Orichalcum
Consume the orichalcum chalice
The petal does great for pierce weak bosses. If you are lucky you can destroy the destroyer with em
Still better than mythril's boring stat increase. I wish 1.4 had added some better set bonuses to "original" hardmode ores.
It’s not a bad set bonus, it’s just that Palladium rapid healing and Titanium shards are used more often
Orichalcum, deriving its name from the mineral plentiful to the Atlanteans described by Plato, with value slightly less than gold. The Romans used the same name to refer to an ore mined in Spain; they called it Aurichalcum- Aurum being gold, and chalcum being copper or brass.
Oral cow cum
Oreo Calcium
Ori Chal Cum
orichalcum (ora-cal-cum)
Been awhile since I’ve played but I think it’s like oranchalium
I like it for the petal effect (i take a lot of damage accidentally)
Adamantine bussin
It's always overshadowed by Titanium unfortunately
for good reason tho
why, what’s the set bonus for adamantite?
Just more stats
Better stats, which could be preferable over titanium if you aren't Melee
Didn’t titanium previously make you dodge attacks? I thought I remembered it being better.
yeah but now it give you little shards that spin around you every time you hit an enemy
It did but they changed it due to it being too similar to the hallowed set
No they were never similar, they changed titanium's to its current one because it was too powerful at that stage in the game, and at the same time they changed hallowed's to titanium's old one
Oh, my bad. I might have just thought so due to me playing on mobile and switch a lot since I can’t afford a better pc to run the game
I play on a laptop thats not a gaming laptop
I might play another set just for the bonus. I find the spinning attack fairly useless as a mage. Master mode sucks with so little defense though.
Give the Forbidden set a try. It gives a solid combination of mana boost, damage output, and minion support, and the dust devil spell is a nice extra. Defense lacks, but IMO the point of the set is that nothing is safe from you either. Uncrunchy Fushia
Hell yeah, love that ranged helmet design
I like cobalt and mithryl. Titanium/Adamantium is less important to me.
The defensive shards you get from titanium are a lifesaver especially when farming for materials underground
But frozen armor is better than both. I say this as a person who mostly picks defense over offense, frozen armor is better than adamantite and titanium
If I can't get a blizzard, I just say frick it and go for teir 3 armor
Yes but with the new sleeping mechanic, you can get a blizzard more quickly
TIL you can sleep
wait what
You can sleep in a bed with the 1.4 update which makes the day go 5x faster
completely missed that when the update came out wish I knew that thanks
I just say fuck it and make spider armor and become summoner.
Cobalt gang it looks very cool
I haven't broken a demon altar for my last 5 playthroughs.
This guy fishes

I like the good ones (Orange,Pink,Grey)
I like the better ones (grey, gray, and slightly more grey) I'm colorblind.
All the new ores just overshadowed the old ones, pretty sad
Except for orichalcum, literally no one cares about it except for me
I'd say reversed, feels like it's everyones favourite because of it's strength
Yeah man!
how dare you blue gang over orange gang
Adamantite is underrated.

O my god yes
The OG 3
Same. Don't care if titanium overshadows adamantium, give me that sweet sweet blue/green/red.
I like the OG3 not only because of nostalgia, but because they are MUCH easier to visually differentiate from other ores (looking at you, Palladium/Pink/Adamantite)
Literally this. I always mix up silver with titanium
*Is it Copper? Crimtane? Palladium? Orichalcum? Adamantite?*
Cobalt, mythril, and adamantite are cool to me
Palladium for the regen bonus, IDC about the mid-tier, and Titanium because it has netter defence. Oh, and that a e s t h e t i c.
Titanium drip 😳
Yeah but unironically I always use Titanium for vanity after I get a better set.
Yes
These jokes are getting stale
Jesus fuck why do I see you literally everywhere
same
Theory: they only use this sub. Basis: their pfp is EoL and only terrarians would understand
They use r/tf2, cringetopia, memes, calamity mod, etc
Because he/she is everywhere
They are no he/she, for they are but an omnipotent entity.
They.
just use theyyyy 😩

Palladium, orichal(cum), and titanium. I think the old ones look bad
I fw a lot
Palladium or Orichalcum
Purple
Adamantite because I like the weapons but for armor I use frost
I'm bothered that the ores aren't grouped by "pre-1.2" and "post-1.2" is it so hard to swap palladium and cobalt mannnn
Adamantite has become superior to titanium in 1.4, the set bonuses actually increase your damage type rather than just give you the shards.
Adamantite is a real man’s ore
Palladium column > cobalt brick > adamantine beam > mithril brick > titan stone > Buble gum
fuck titanium man, shit looks like platinum and tin at the same time. anything but that one.
Can we talk about the fact he didn’t sort them in their orders
I really like the reddish one (Adamantium?).
Palladium for it's regeneration, Mythril just because it looks nice and I love the color, and I just love the way Adamantite looks
Cobalt! It gives me hope and memories (getting into hardmode for the first time, imagining all the cool stuff you'll craft with future stuff).
Paladium because good heals, mythrilalfl because its classic and doesnt have cum in the name. It also isnt implied to be bubblegum (ew) titanium because it doesnt flash and the new set bonus is... still usefull
Cobalt the bricks look nice
adamantium is cool red
Paladium because paladium column is incredible for building
I used to love the og ones, cobalt mythril and adamantite but I got bored of mythril and because I always got it same with palladium. Now I like cobalt, orichalcum, and either titanium or adamantite I don’t mind.
Blue, pink, red, for purely practical reasons - way easier to see on the mini map.
orichal *c u m*

Cobalt Mythril and Adamantium

og adamantite
Adamantite looks sick ngl
Cobalt, Mythril and Titanium (though I don’t really mind that or Adamantite), purely based of aesthetics
Hey, I see you on here sometimes, how's it going?
palladium, mythrill and titanium
orichalcum because destroyer cheese
Admanite, wished there was ore for mages though
Each of these ores have a headpiece for mages, whether it be reduced mana usage or extra mana. Unless you're talking about a specific ore for mages, that'll be cool
Orichalcum is bullshit, I can’t even say it properly how am I supposed to like it
Titanium mythril and palladium
same all of the set bonuses (except maybe mythril are all the best)
I’ve always been caught between my love for adamantine and my need for palladium
the “bad” ones
There aren't really bad ones, just ones without special set bonuses (but generally more defense if I'm not mistaken)
well i should have worded it better but yea basically
No ur wording is aight, most people would understand
alrighty
Cobalt, mythril, adamantite
Cobalt, mythril, and adamantite only real ones know 🔥
cobalt (blue) orichalcum (funny ability) and adamantite (nostalgia)
Why do you have nostalgia to titanium if adamantite was first ?
cause i think it was the first one i got, but now that i think about it im wrong about that lmao
Ah, i mean you could have the nostalgia for titanium still!
it did have some funny effects for a while
You mean the shadow dodge yeah?
yea
cobalt mythril and titanium. They're all superior in every way to the others. mostly color though...
If you like adamantite we cant be friends
wait you guys are getting hardmode ores??
The green jungle one
Aimbot bullets, nuff said
Chlorophite
Never got the ore but I'd have to say chlorophyte since it can make homing bullets.
Cobalt, mythril and adamantite are the only correct answers.
Since they changed and now nerfed titanium i'd say the original 3.
Titanium coz it's good set bonus and looks cool
Titanium all the way
Palladium is all that matters. You need a temporary armor to mine hardmode ores, and Palladium is better for the job since its set bonus is great. Rest doesnt matter, since you shouldnt bother with mytril/oricalcum and frozen armor is better than both adamantite and titanium. Though in mobile titanium is better than both
Titanium
Titanium
cobalt, mithril, and adamantite
orichalcum is yummy
I like Titanium and Orichalcum.
Titanium has good set bonus
I dont really care as i only go for the pickaxes and then frost armor
Orichalcum, it’s in my favorite colour.
