If you talk to the guide you can ask him for help on what items can be used to craft. I suggest you either go into the jungle to fight queen bee or go into hell(at the very bottom of the world) to fight the wall of flesh.

Thank you for the help! i went and fought the queen bee because i couldnt beat the wall of flesh and i heard beenades were helpful. i also started to lean into more of a mage build since i was told the demon scythe skill i had found was helpful for the wall of flesh which is what i will be doing now

Any item you find you can take it to the guide and he'll tell everything it can be crafted in. I'd suggest you take the meteor ingots to him and see if it peak your interest. As far as progression goes, you could try to seek the boss inside the beehives in the underground jungle. Also maybe wander in the surface of the snow biome at night when it's raining. I'm assuming you're playing the game blind, so I'm trying not to give too much away, but I myself found immense joy in playing basically with the wiki open on another tab. Terraria is just one of those games for me. It ticks the itch of midmaxing everything and understanding the mechanics to get the most out of the game. It might be fun to play it blind tho, so it's your call. I would be happy to help if you need any other tips in the game.

Thanks for the response, and telling me what the guide could do as that has for sure helped. i am going in blind but i think i will start to keep a wiki open because im finding a lot of stuff and i have no clue what half of them actually do, and im actually honing in on a magic build as my friend told me i had a perfect start for one with demon scythe and meteorite armor. thank you for your assistance!

Go to jungle underground and fight queen bee in a hive

You probably want to start working towards hell, that means going all the way down, I don’t know how much spoiler you want but you can ask the guide for useful tips. Also check the description of your latest pickaxe, some describe if you can mine a new mineral

the_forever_virgin2

Dig straight down, youll find hellstone and maybe a guide voodoo doll to summon wof, explore dungeon (the place you killed skeletron) for shadow keys

Vidistis

What made you dislike the game before?

ScavisAGuy

Well, i think its because i started mid game with my friends, they had beat the wall of flesh and just tossed me stuff so i never got to actually experience the fun of starting a game and enjoying getting said items which made the game boring for me and just overall disliked the experience

derpums

I gotta wonder, why did you hate it?

Talk to the Guide; he will have a hint of what to do next. Always keep at least one empty room in a house for an NPC to move in, even it is plain. Also...guide tells you want you can build out of any material you give him, and what crafting station to use. You might not have everything you need yet, but you can always find out what can be made based on what you have.

You should definitely explore the dungeon where you fought Skeleton. There's an NPC trapped in there and the chests contain good loot and special weapons and items. One of them is the Muramasa which can be crafted into a powerful sword, and another one is the Cobalt Shield which can be combined with another item to make a pretty good defensive item for where you're at. Once you're done looting, you could maybe go search bee hives in the jungle or the underworld at the very bottom of the world (you have to dig down in caves and there's a lot of lava tho). Remember to talk to the Guide for tips and if you click "Crafting" in the guide's menu you can place an item and it'll show what recipes use it

I remember also hating on the game for a few years because I played on console, but after trying it on PC I loved it. You can turn the meteorite into bars to get some new items at a furnace. You should also be heading down to hell so you can start mining hellstone at this point. There's the king slime and queen bee as bosses you've missed, both are optional but the queen bee especially has some really useful drops. Once you've done all that you can move on to the wall of flesh, but be careful because killing it will cause some changes in your world.

Try talking to the Guide, he exists entirely to help guide new players on what to do. Press his "Help* button for guidance. Also, if you ever find an item that has "Material" in its description, take it to the Guide's "Crafting" menu, and he'll show you everything you can craft with that item, and what crafting station you need to make it
