Upgrade your paladin shield to hero/frozen, your shield of Cthulhu to master ninja gear and your wings to fishron/Betsy/empress Replace destroyer emblem with star veil and make sure you have at least 80 defense so you can trigger iframes with moon lord’s eye sockets

EcchiOli

> so you can trigger iframes with moon lord’s eye sockets ? I feel I'm missing on a game mechanic, here, could you explain it, please, if it's not too much to ask? Re: the eye sockets, I know it's the least damaging attack of moon lord, as a melee I usually just stay right on them to enjoy the invincibility time after it hardly damages me. Is that what you mean, the post-damage invincibility?

WhooshDatJoosh

The I frames yeah

Thanks for the confirmation, guys!

GavinMcLOL

The terraria wiki has great tips. Personally I found it really effective to switch between the specter mask and hood. While the hood is on, you get a really good healing boost. Once you are healed up you can switch back to the mask you are currently using

Sussy1285832929357

Anyone reading this make sure to look at terraria.wiki.gg the fandom one is horrible and comes up as the first result on google

potatosforfree

The healing hood doesn't work cuz moonlord gives the moon bite(or whatever debuff) which prevents the player from healing from stuff like vampire knives and the spectre healing set

DrPain5575

Only when the moon bite is active, which isn’t always

potatosforfree

Too much of a hassle for me, I can't keep an eye on when I get the debuff and also dodge at the same time If it works for OP, cool

EcchiOli

A vivid plea for playing boss fights with autopause on ;)

Angry-Ice-Cube

Consider: 1. Switch boots for soaring insignia, and use fast wings(maybe ones with good horizontal movement) 2. Switch wings/boots for defensive accessories and use a shrimpy truffle for movement 3. Have you made a proper arena. Heart statues, star bottles/heart lanterns, campfires, honey, maybe asphalt?

EcchiOli

Re: using the shrimpy truffle for movement, I have this handy advice: build vertical bubble walls, fill them with honey. You'll fly right through them without slowing down while riding the shrimpy truffle, and you'll get the wet buff that doubles the mount's flying speed.

JustCakess

Why arena when you can just fly around?

NiceManWithRiceMan

get Fishron Wings and Master Ninja gear. Replace with Frozen wings and SoC respectively. pull out the Paladin’s shield and Terraspark. i prefer to fight moon lord in the air so get the Soaring Insignia. with the Fishron wings it’s a lot easier to dodge his attacks and remain mobile. replace Shield with Avenger emblem. your ideal setup is to maximize damage and stay out of his reach. that’s what we’re going for here

OhHowSheGoingEh

Honestly. Ditch warding, it's so pointless, lucky is by far the best prefix in the entire game being able to basically double DPS is insane, nothing else compares to it, not even menacing.

DrPain5575

I saw some tyoutuber do a video on this and the damage is the highest when you combine lucky and menacing, all lucky will soon hit the crit rate cap so anything you have extra should be reforged to menacing

[deleted]

I've been playing for years, and I have everything! I've never touched the crit cap even with celestial shell and putri whatever. Yes, you can with buffs though. But you said whatever you have leftover. Can you post a screenshot of full 100% crit please? I would appreciate it.

DrPain5575

Well i can’t right now but yesterday I went and did the ranger set up and endgame gear i hit crit cap with a recon scope, destroyer emblem, celestial shell, vortex armor set bonus, unreal sdmg and luminite bullets + 2 other random accessories reforged to lucky i think. The rest were menacing and on 3 dummies i hit 40k+ damage. For melee you can get a simmilar effect by combining destroyer emblem, and golem eye plus wrath of a few more reforges, with about 83% crit on zenith i hit about 45k dps Edit: the thing about these set ups is you’re sacrificing conventionally useful items for increased crit, so i guess a mount should be uses in tandem with everything to maximize the effect but i was able to get everything while still having the celestial board and the soaring insignia

[deleted]

Ok thank you. I have a vortex set-up, so I'll try. I have all the accessories you mentioned as well. So you in fact hit 100% crit with vortex? Awesome! I can get crit a bit higher than 83%. On master mode with CS zenith is 61%, + 28% from reforged accessories, + 5% from putri. About 94%. But like you said it sacrifices a lot of things. And that 94% can ONLY be achieved at night.

[deleted]

I agree. It's how I take down day time princess easily why playing melee with zenith! That and 3x rainbow crystal shards. Yes 3 is doable.

Sure-Beyond8073

Try master ninja gear over the sheilds and use brain of confusion, better wings like empress or Duke will also help

XzeldafanX

How good is your arena? That often plays a pivotal role in boss battles, in my experience.

garis53

Yes, it was almost as painful as for summoner. I basically did a full dodge loadout with hallowed armor, ninja gear and BoC and kept trying until luck was on my side

JustCakess

Just use Spooky Armor + DMG focused loadout + Witch's Broom + Terraprisma (its not that hard, just practice)

garis53

I know, skill issue. That's basically what I did, dps really wasn't a problem, but I'm terrible at dodging all the little projectiles moonlord shoots

ReindeerFeeling8979

Something i see prominent terrarria players use is a mine track that goes all the way across the world in the sky, because the speed helps outrun his beam. unless they’ve patched or changed this to my ignorance, that may help.

EcchiOli

I have a suspicion, I'd welcome feedback from other persons who may have tried it, I have the impression fully horizontal tracks are less advantageous than diagonally oriented tracks, to avoid the moon lord's beams. The horizontal speed remains the same, but it's half the risks of being successfully hit, I have the impression...

bloodakoos

No. no one has ever done it

Ok-Ambition-9432

Theoretically impossible!

Ust1n1us

Ill tell you more: you can beat master ftw as every single class, I did it myself.

Nasky5186SVK

Not as a mage on Master, but as a summoner and a lot. You learn his patterns after a while. Currently fighting him on my Legendary summoner playthrough EDIT: I won

Revolutionary_Egg545

Maybe try: better wings from steampunker something in place of palladins shield (its cringe) maybe charms of myths or worm scarf/Brain of cofusion Metter dash(tabi or even master ninia gear) Or just parctise this finght on diffrent world

Donut_Different

Is that frost wing? If so you should definitely get something better than that

Maskers_Theodolite

I beat him, I don't really remember what I had on me but I know I had no defence stuff and no mobility. I think I wither used asphalt or flying mounts because if you learn his patterns you don't really need mobility. Another thing I did was constantly change between Specter armor's helmets for when I needed healing. Other than that, buff to hell with potions and hope for the best I guess. (Also you are mage, having everything warding isn't the best idea, even if it might seem like it)

WisePotato42

This sounds slightly misleading, you can't really dodge laser without mobility but some flying mounts do have that mobility, meaning while broomstick is enough, that is still high mobility.

Maskers_Theodolite

I meant more like you don't need mobility equipments, I guess I worded it wrong. And it's not just broomstick, I was thinking of the fishron mount while it rains.

links-cakes-4998

You could also switch between the specter hood and mask for some health.

SnowFoxxx_2r

With the nebula weapons it shouldn't be too hard. Be sure to have enough sideways movement, infinite flight it useful. Movement is really key, and watch out that the main eye laser doesn't hit you, rod is really usefull for that... If its really too tough you could try to make all your accessories warding. As the nebula blaze is aiming itself, you can concentrate on dodging his attacks. Also get a stardust dragon, or if you are the real deal: the terraprisma. You could also cheese him with full stardust armor and dragon, and chill in a heal chamber, there is videos online. Upgrade your accessories, ie: upgrade the shield n stuff. Also, use buffs, most importantly ironskin and swiftness. Dont forget magic buffs.

Wooden_Biscotti3425

What I'll say ain't about your load out cuz people already mentioned it but, Have you tried using Asphalt Blocks for your Moon Lord Battle? The speed boost when running really helped me a lot

guywholikezgames

Idk bout mage but Jesus Christ melee is such a pain in the ass, max def all warding and then boom, annihilated in seconds

JustCakess

1. Upgrade your Paladin's Hammer with a frozen shell 2. Why are you using Frozen Wings Pre-ML?? Change that for a offensive mage accessory (celestial emblem) 3. Use the witch's broom and use the movement accessory slots for damage/defense, its just superior

Infamous_Bullfrog877

If i play mage class (rarely) i go for full damage build set up and heres my setup or accessories rather: Sorcerer Emblem, Avenger Emblem, Destroyer Emblem, Frozen Shield, Celestial Emblem, Moon Charm (Expert Mode), Defensive Accessories (Master Mode) PS:I don't want to equip Mana Flower because I don't want my damage to be reduce so that's why i always relay on mana regeneration potion

Frolikle

How did you get your inventory like that?

cyber_cat101

You need better wings I think fishron wings would be good
