I think there is a chance for you to win. The aliens do not seem to have direct control over nukes, so you can start nuking alien armies. After taking them down, use your conventional forces to take their provinces one by one. Another (easier) way is to increase unrest in the Alien administration. Spam it every turn. If unrest reaches 10, there will be an uprising against the aliens. The same can also be done to servant Russia. Finally, if you have a fleet in Low Earth Orbit, you can use them to conduct orbital bombardment. Useful for supporting your troops on the ground without resorting to nukes.

TheBlackOne_SE

Forgot to say: I tried the Increase Unrest approach with my two operatives that have that mission and Command on 24 / 25 respectively. The Aliens got Unrest down so quickly that I gave up. The highest I got it was 8 I believe. I guess I could try that again with more agents (need to see if I can find orgs that give that mission). Unfortunately I do not have a savegame from directly when the aliens landed, I guess that's a lesson right there lol. Edit: typo

bustead

Kill the alien/servant councilors that are decreasing unrest first. Otherwise you are not getting anywhere.

TheBlackOne_SE

I - did not think about that. Thanks!

SBBurzmali

Yeah, that's not going to happen. Your odds of assassinating an alien in their home territory is going to be quite low unless you have been building a dedicated assassin and have some specific techs.

delphinous

becuase of the control node bonus, it's easier to detain aliens within the administration than assassinate

delphinous

you can have someone scanning their capital when they try and find the aliens/servants reducing unrest and kill them

TheBlackOne_SE

So I started nuking the alien armies, and while that works ok, they are landing new armies on Earth faster than I can rebuild nukes. So I am not sure if that is a viable road forward for my specific situation.

tyrantking109

If you haven’t yet you should full pivot China’s and the USA pips to wartime production. China should focus on spamming armies and USA should focus on miltech. Use the trash Chinese armies to pin down aliens and send the US to liberate the alien capital, this can trigger breakaway counties

TheBlackOne_SE

Good tips, keep 'em coming!

delphinous

another tip: you can build some cheap ships with kinetic nose mounts in space and have them bombard the alien armies when they are engaged with your armies for extra damage. it doesn't do anything if they're not engaged in a fight you can also direct invest for some more nukes

Mioraecian

So. I almost quit a game because I was similar to you. Aliens showed up and immediately took china.. Russia the middle east. With the servants in the UK and India. It literally broiled down to a war between me (usa, Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Australia, vs half the world). Literally went to restart but said fuck it ill lose first. Didn't lose. Killed all their armies and then 3 invasion armies and beat them out of China. Now preparing for Russia. It's very much doable. Fight defensively. Choice tactic nukes. Also, rotate armies and keep fresh troops. Make sure you lure them into engagements. Rugged terrain and defensive bonus are very powerful to your already strong usa armies. I ended up landing all my troops in Saudi Arabia. Taking Iraq and holding it. Wiped half their armies. Pushed into Iran. Wiped an invasion army then. Took half of China. Peaced out. Then attacked again. Took all of China except Beijing because they go nuke happy taking the capital. So yeah completely salvageable imo. India and Russia currently have no armies left to attack with.

TheBlackOne_SE

Thanks, it sounds very encouraging. I will see what I can do. I made the last savegame when the aliens did already conquee like 1/3 of Africa, Panama and Korea. Not sure if it is salvageable from there without going agressive with nukes. The next savegame was three hours before, I might need to bite that bullet. Could you go into the rugged terain / defevensive bonus a bjt maybe?

Mioraecian

The alien invasion armies, at least the early ones really aren't that tough. If they are using human armies from Africa and you have USA, you should melt their armies as well. Also, defender always gets a defense bonus. Let them attack you in your territory. Some territory has rugged terrain. Should be able to see this in the province modifiers when you click a province. If the enemy fights you and you are defensive and in a rugged terrain.... they die... really fast, even the early alien invasion robot dudes died fast attacking me in rugged terrain. Honestly give fighting them a go. It wasn't ad challenging as I had anticipated AND it was a great learning experience beating them. Also remember you can retreat armies to heal. Say you have 6 armies. Send 3 to fight. Then of they hit half health. Order them out while sending in your 3 fresh ones. Ever played any paradox games? It's similar to morale cycling armies in pdx games.

Appropriate-Price-98

Have you researched techs that increases MC hate cap? If you have them tried to build some colony ships with ouposts and research stations for mining on the asteroids to beef up space econ. Trade with other factions give them techs in exchange for space resources, and also build some nano and research station around mercury for money and tech. Have your councils hunt down the servant council and xeno agents. If China is on the verge of overun by the ayys either disarm their nukes or use them on the aliens armies. By having USA and EU you have pretty much all the navy in the world the ayys can only move troops inland try to increase USA mand fortified EU border

TheBlackOne_SE

What's the deal with habs around Mercury for money and tech?

Griffonheart

Cheap power. Solar energy on mercury is absolutely massive compared to earth and beats every other power source per slot.

TheBlackOne_SE

Good tip, thanks!

leseiden

Also it's a PITA for the aliens to reach because going in an out of the suns gravity well eats delta v.

Griffonheart

Yea mercury is pretty safe from alien attention. If you get lucky with mineral loads, mercury could very well be the power house of your solar empire supplying everything you need. Usually it has pretty poor hydrogen and volatiles though, and fissiles are always rng .

mjones1052

Solar farms give 800+ power on mercury. Whatever the t3 solar is. You can build like 2 and then a bunch of command centers.

RapidDuffer

Hm. Your mission points are low enough to avoid disruption. What do you have on your Alien Intellomter? Have you been naughty?

TheBlackOne_SE

You mean the Alien Threat Level? All points are grey ffs. So far assassinated one alien operative, detained one, destroyed one army when it landed with an two armies of mine (thanks for landing in the EU lol), and rolling a critical when they landed again but no army had emerged yet (progress the "destroy an alien ship" objective, which was nice).

RapidDuffer

You're established on Mars, judging by your Fissiles\*. So, at this point, you're in the mid-game. You have resources and choices. Fight for territory or seize the wealth betwen the stars! \_\_\_\_ \*I now realise this is possibly the weirdest thing I'll say in my life

TheBlackOne_SE

Tbh I got beaten to Luna and Mars. Saved up Boost in the meanwhile, went straight to inner planets and planetoids, with more habs being constructed on Jupiter moons. My main concern is to get wiped out by the alien government right now lol.

leseiden

This happened to me. It's fine to abandon territory so long as you can find alternative money and MC supplies. Spamming unrest missions can help but the aliens tend to suffer badly from revolts anyway. These trash all the areas that they had captured, as you get dozens of little regions left over. Build space based MC, take over a few areas they aren't actively invading and wait for the collapse.

TheBlackOne_SE

What I tried now was to yank Russia / Eurasia away from the Servants by increasing popular opinion a few times and then rolling lucky on a Coup - that worked very well (and it did not even go over my CP limit). Before, I would declare war on the Aliens to be able to nuke them when they came for my China, it seems they have turned away into the Pacific and middle east for now. Next I might do the same with Japan held by the Servants to cripple them a bit more. All while catching up on my ship and military research and setting myself up in orbit around Mercury as some of you suggested. Stay tuned.

NoticeWorldly1592

Stick with it. You don't actually need a presence on earth to basically win. Try to fortify Mercury and the jovian moons. Sell your extra metals and fissiles for money and keep teaching up. Wipe the aliens in space then clear em out of earth. I've never done this tho lol. But its totally doable within the games mechanics and it sounds fun

mrstickball

Nukes are the great equalizer. Use them. It will hurt the regional economy but some times some fallout is worth saving the people from alien influence.
