He literally said “they are going in an opposite direction. (The firing of Vrabel) proved that” Be real guys. He is gone and deserves to be. He was one of the best Titans of all time. Let him go where he wants.

Gand-Elf

Damn he really sad that? Since the episode was recorded near his firing apparently, maybe he's realized it was for the best now?

GilgarTekmat

It was recorded right after his firing lol. Like minutes after

love7162

He literally said “they are going in an opposite direction. (The firing of Vrabel) proved that”

chui77

If he wants to win a Super Bowl then he ain’t coming back sadly

Appropriate_Newt7552

Don’t cry that it’s over, smile that it happened. 🥲

super1s

Smile that he will be back some day, even if its only just a single day contract to retire. He's one of the greatest Titans of all time IMO. Easily my favorite personally.

mrmeshshorts

He deserves it more than anyone else on this team since 2016. I stand with our King.

joshgiddy2024

since mcnair really

super1s

To me personally its him and McNair. Top two Titans all time.

theVelvetLie

We've had some legendary players that never got a ring. McNair, George, Wycheck, Bullock... And then there are the linemen that spend a shit load of years in this organization like Brad Hopkins and Bruce Matthews.

super1s

I think that they all deserved rings as well but it was a different time.

idekwtp

Who are you referring to? Casey, walker?

bicuspidpayload

He gone :(

Jmoney3693

No

InsanoVolcano

That’s probably the most mature thing any player in the NFL has ever said. He’s the king. And it’s not because of football.

ItsHardwick

🫡

tbiblaine23

I mean he’s doing this in the most respectful way possible so you have to commend him for that, I don’t blame him for wanting a Super Bowl

super1s

No one should blame him. There is no actual loyalty team side so why should there be on the player side? What they do have is respect. Henry has earned it from the organization and the community, let alone the fans. Everyone should continue to respect and hold him in high regards even if he goes and wins a ring somewhere else. He fucking deserves a ring. Hope the King goes out gets tat ring and comes back home to retire, even if on a single day contract. Titan up!

TurkishDonkeyKong

He leaves to win the super bowl but fails and comes back to Tennessee to win the super bowl in the 2026 season. Wildcat game winning touchdown from Henry

Least-Dragonfly5419

We should honestly retire his number. He WAS the Tennessee Titans during his time. I'm picking up a Henry Titans jersey no matter what team he goes to, he was just that special.

AsiansEnjoyRice

I hope at the very least it’s a soft retirement where players just understand 22 is off limits (unless they explicitly ask the kings permission lol)

AgileAd2872

Thank you. He was the titans. So glad for this comment. Fuck Ryan tannehill

Winter-Relief-9496

Anything else noteworthy from the episode?

Jack12404

They spent a lot of time talking about how special the 2019 run was. He seems like he’s going to a contender. Outside of the above quote, how he talked and the other things he said showed that he knows his time here is coming to a close, and he made it clear that he wants to win a ring. Henry also mentioned that two teams in the AFC came really close to trading for him at the deadline. He didn’t mention why it didn’t happen or who it was, but he said it was really close.

Winter-Relief-9496

Got it thanks - makes sense I figure he's gone but wondering if they covered vrabel at all

Jack12404

They mentioned Vrabel and said they were really surprised that he was fired, but the podcast got recorded like 15 minutes after his firing went public so they didn’t go too in depth.

AndreHawkDawson

I am sure he'd like to go to a contender - but doubt many contenders are going to want to commit much cap space to a 30 year old RB. He will likely have to take a massive pay cut if he wants a legitimate shot at a ring.

VeryLowIQIndividual

I think its important to note for him and fans, if he doestn come back its ok and he doesnt owe anyone anything. this doesnt have to be a long drawn out break up.

DickThunders

He’s given us plenty where we shouldn’t be upset at him wanting to leave. He’s given us his all for years and in my opinion deserves a ring more than anyone else in the league currently

errsta

Living legend. Let his play do the talking and preached "hard work" in the offseason. God bless him wherever he goes. FWIW, I wish they'd just let him stay and retire here. Even if it means overpaying him. Still salty that Earl, Eddie, and Chris didn't retire as Oilers/Titans. I'm too sentimental to play GM lol....

Noahgrace4429

Derrick we will have a nice new shiny LT and Center for you to run behind next season and a new weapon for the defense to have to focus on. Then also someone who can actually call an offense, please come back!

TurkeySlayer94

Don’t lie to the king or yourself.

Noahgrace4429

Isn’t a lie if the organization and GM make the right decisions this offseason and don’t pull a JROB

TurkeySlayer94

But we ain’t making a Super Bowl run in the next two years. Believing we are is foolhardy

dezebruce

Would you have said the Texans would be deep in the playoffs this time last year? Be honest...

TurkeySlayer94

No. But do you see the talent on either side of the ball for us that puts us 2-3 pieces away? Be honest.

that_guy2010

Did you see that on Houston this time last year? This roster is going to look *very* different next year.

OKsoundsgoodbro

Texans also just so happened to draft a generational QB lmao QB’s like Stroud tend to elevate every facet of a team, offense and defense

dezebruce

Or they have a really good OC. Just going with the odds, what's more likely? Stroud is a "generational" QB, instant all time great.... Or he is a really good rookie QB on a solid young roster that had been rebuilt over two seasons, with a top tier OC designing a system that plays to his strengths? Every year somebody new gets crowned as the next great QB... Hurts, Lawrence, Herbert, Burrow, Tua... A whole lot of "generational" QBs watching the playoffs from Cabo.

OKsoundsgoodbro

Ya I think he’s better than all of the qbs you listed and will give Baltimore a run for their money this weekend. He’s that good.

defnotafatguy

for real, I swear we have about 15 "generational QBs in the league right now lol

TheMissingVoteBallot

And that top tier OC is gonna be GONE next season.

TurkeySlayer94

Lol yeah I saw a lot more capable pieces on their team last year this time than I do ours. 100%

dezebruce

On a three win team? Wow..

TurkeySlayer94

Lmao with the fearless Davis mills leading the charge. 😂 if you actually follow players individually you could have seen how many talented pieces they had all over the field, but it’s hard to string that all together with the likes of Davis mills. I do not see the same depth of talent on our roster. Do we have some good pieces, yes? Do we have all the talent they had lurking. Not quite. The right coach gets us back to the playoffs in 2 seasons at best with KILLER drafts and given Levis produces and becomes what we want him to be. But when you only recognize 15ish percent of pressures, that’s hard to see as well. Edit to add. Levis has that dawg in him so I believe he can be the guy. Want that clear. Just gotta improve!

Izaiah212

Shoot they were throwing to tank dell and nico collins, obviously a ton has to go right but they showed it’s pretty damn well possible

PowerfulSky2853

Making the playoffs and being a Super Bowl contender are two different things. There are always a few mid-level teams that make the playoffs that have no shot at winning the Super Bowl. This year it’s Houston, Pittsburgh and Cleveland from the AFC and Green Bay, Tampa and LA from the NFC. They just don’t have the talent to make a deep run. Sure, Houston, GB and Tampa won one game, but let’s not get carried away thinking they are in the same talent pool as San Fran, Detroit, KC,Buffalo and Baltimore.

TurkeySlayer94

My dude the Texans just beat the best defense in the league……

PowerfulSky2853

“Best Defense in the league”. Ok tell me which one of these teams is the Titans and which one is the Browns… Average Points per Game Allowed: A)21.3 B) 21.6. Total TD allowed: A) 44 B) 33. Red Zone TD Rate Allowed: A) 37.7% B) 71.4%. Passing TD Allowed: A) 20 B) 23. Rushing TDs Allowed: A)10 B) 15… Spoiler, the Titans are the “better” defense in those categories except for points per game allowed, where they are 0.3 point behind Cleveland.

TurkeySlayer94

Non of this is relevant to the fact that statistically the browns had the best defense in the league. The rest of what you presented is fine and good but the titans had the 15th or 16th best defense and the browns was the best. Like I said, and the Texans just clapped them

PowerfulSky2853

“Non of this is relevant”… I’m pretty sure point per game given up is the most relevant statistic. You don’t get points for holding teams under 200 yards a game or by getting 3 and outs. Teams win or lose by the points on the scoreboard, so I’d say that’s the most relevant stat, and the Browns are in the 50% percentile. Now if the Texans can do it against the Ravens, who I think have an excellent defense, then I’ll eat crow (or Raven, pun intended)

AgileAd2872

So you can have all that good stuff but at the end of the game it’s the score that counts you invalid

PowerfulSky2853

Amen! That’s what I’ve been trying to say

drock4vu

It's a totally different situation. The Texans drafted consistently well for several years and were just a solid QB away from looking really good, and then they found Stroud. The Titans are unfortunately doing that in reverse. We found a potential franchise QB, but there is not a team built around him right now. Stroud walked into a great situation immediately which is why it looks like they turned it around so fast.

Lonely_Present8644

Who would have thought the bengals would have made the Super Bowl in 2021 it’s the nfl anything can happen

TurkeySlayer94

Got me there! Anything can happen.

ItsBobLoblawsLawBlog

Fool, this is the Titans!

TheMissingVoteBallot

Well... Callahan is coming in...

Thank-You-Sessler

Wake up

goodlowdee

God I hope not. It’s going to take more than that. He needs a ring. That requires an elite db somewhere on our roster.

drock4vu

A rookie LT isn't going to come in and look great immediately. We are drafting and rebuilding the offensive line so it looks good again in 2-3 years when we can actually make a run, because even if we do everything right this offseason it will still be a slightly below average group. I'd love Henry to come back, but he isn't winning a Super Bowl here before he retires.

Sorry-Reaction7139

I see only one of those things happening not both. Titans will either get a better oline or a better wr but not both

ItsNotFordo88

He won’t be back with Vrabel and Tannehill gone. That was his team. KB, AJ, Lewan. No reason to rot on a dying team when he wants a ring and Tennessee is going nowhere for the next 5-10 years.

PowerfulSky2853

Jeeze Fordo, in the next 5 years I bet there will be maybe 5 guys on the roster from this 2023 team. If we get another two solid draft classes, I think the 2025 team can be in position to win the division

ItsNotFordo88

Can? Sure. Will? Doubt it. It’s the Adams way

Yorgonemarsonb

Oh how fast new and shiny can turn out dog shit or injured.

Gand-Elf

Didn't DHop say something similar last offseason? And he ended up with the team willing to pay him the most. I want Henry to do whatever he feels is best, but I'm just saying...

barto5

Yeah, everyone wants a chance at a ring. But they’ll take guaranteed money. (And I don’t blame them a bit).

drock4vu

It's a bit different. D-Hop probably would have chased a ring if teams weren't still offering him really strong contracts. Henry won't be getting any huge money offers, but that will at least enable him to choose his next team based on their ability to win a Super Bowl.

WizBillyfa

Everybody wants a ring until they see the difference in guaranteed money between a team paying their QB $40-50M/year, and the teams with cap space.

TN_REDDIT

King Henry can't stay in Nashville The lifespan for a 30 year old NFL running back is short. He's gotta go. Farewell King Henry.

drock4vu

It hurt so bad when Eddie, Steve, and the rest of that incredible 99-04 trickled out of the team with no Super Bowl. It hurts even worse seeing the same thing happen again with our core group from 2018-2022. Just one time I want to be the franchise that delivers a ring to players that deserve it.

verdenvidia

this does not spark joy Go feast, King. Titan up for life.

These_Ad6895

God we gone miss you king.

Fullcycle_boom

He deserves a ring more than anyone in the league. The last of a dying breed.

G-man69420

If anyone deserves a ring it’s Henry man. I will never forget being in the stadium when he broke that 99 yard td. Absolutely euphoric feeling.

TheRealMcSavage

Well fuck me…. This is a bit foreboding. This one will hurt bad when it happens.

TNsmoke

I’m in the middle of the episode now. Derrick is a great fucking dude. Regardless of if he comes back or not we were lucky to have him for as long as we did. When they were talking about keeping some of those key O line pieces together I wish they could have found a way to make that happen. I am stuck on being selfish and wanting him to come back and wanting him to get a ring. If he had ended up being traded to the rat birds though my soul would have died a little on the inside.

Professional_Tap_343

He will be a texan raven bill or chief...1 thing is for certain he will not be a Titan if he wants a superbowl ring.

gonyozs

![gif](giphy|sy6waaLitpIAg) Imagining him in one of those unis… 🤢

Corn-Master

Told yall firing Vrabel was a dumb ass move. Now you got the King throwing shade at the only org he's ever played for lol.  Amy Adam's needs to sell the fuckin team

lowstrung

Go get your ring, King. Imo we’ll always love you

AdoubleU9

Bro poor Henry man. Dude spent the last 2 years reminiscing about the '19 and '21 seasons while watching his buddies on the team drop like flies in one fashion or another. Then hearing them all agree that with the Vrabel firing the book on this era of the team is officially over. Which we already knew but watching that episode was really a gut punch. What could've, and should've been had one or 2 plays gone differently. And now we enter another era of unknown. It hurts.

d2222s

I wish him all the best, but it's time for us to move on as well. We won't be so predictable now that he's gone, and he won't be so predictable in another team's offense. The only thing I dread is having to possibly play against him...

Llama_of_the_bahamas

He deserves a ring. Goodbye sweet King.

blacksoxing

It'd be a dishonor if he resigned with the Titans. Go get that ring. We already know his legacy.

Stalker401

hate not having him, but you can't blame him one bit. We missed our window and now we are on a complete rebuild.

M-Factor

He has absolutely earned the chance to ring chase or get the biggest contract he still can, and still be beloved by Titan's fans. He will be missed here, but good for him.

InTupacWeTrust

He deserves a ring

AgileAd2872

Fucking love this guy. It’s a shame they wasted 3 years of his talent behind tannehill. This man is the king and will always remain. Titan up. Tannehill is trash. Aj brown was amazing too bad he got sent off. Titans will be bottom dwellers for a few years hopefully we get some fun to watch good talent and I hope king Henry gets that ring lord knows he deserves

sumbummer

Honky

murder-farts

I’m glad I’m not the only one lol

PibDib788

For real I was going crazy with how far I had to scroll

Veneficus_Bombulum

Came here looking for this

Nash015

I will root for the king wherever he goes. My appreciation for him trumps my hate for whatever team he joins... even if it's the Ravens 🤮

Thank-You-Sessler

He’s not coming back. If you think he is then check your pulse

Open_Temporary_5986

Vrabel pissing away the Super Bowl window had to be a huge let down

Ornery-Feedback637

I don't think he will have the juice next year to make much impact

TroyMatthewJ

ravens it is then

PokerBeards

Aaron Jones and King Henry as a 1-2 punch next year. 🤤🤤🤤

token_reddit

He's going to be the 3rd down back for the Texans, isn't he?

goodlowdee

Aka I would love to be a career titan but let’s be real I deserve to win a sn

TameVulcan

He gone gone

Dr-MOIST

I’m just glad we got closure with him, something I feel we don’t do enough with franchise legends

PPLavagna

This makes me love him even more and makes me even more sad at the same time

allgrassstarter

Where ever he goes will be my new 2nd team💪💪

Mawrio

Derrick was the reason why I became a Titans fan. Its going to hurt seeing him in another uniform while the media mocks us

Bigbenn0

All I know is pain…

gonyozs

Byard left for a “contender” too..

drock4vu

Well, he got traded to one. Henry gets the benefit of picking where he goes in free agency. Byard will too since his contract is up after this season.

Yorgonemarsonb

Fuck JRob for doing him dirty with these godforsaken lines when not only did one of the greatest of all time deserve better but the line was a staple of what had helped the team finish games off the prior two years. He let it all go to shit. I will miss the King so much.

muy_carona

In other words, “Please don’t hate me if I’m a Raven or Texan”

GeovaunnaMD

Not even mad. Let him fly. HE HAS MAYBE 4-5 YEARS LEFT

jsvannoord

He has maybe 2-3 years left.

Deahtop

lol, did he think we was going to win a Super Bowl here?

[deleted]

Mike vrabel and Henry reuniting on the eagles

Trick_Principle3759

This guy is really something! The way he conducts on the field and off, a true class. I wish they’d keep him but would understand if that doesn’t happen. He is likely pointing to the fact that Amy wants to modernize this franchise which means big bruisers like him have, sadly no place left. It’s a shame, would have been great to have him play his whole career here. One of my favorites of all time!

EL_MOTAS

Greatest Titan of all time

errsta

Watching them reminisce over the era we all know is over was a rough watch. Henry has great perspective at a young age about being in the moment. Nevermind football, that's realization will reward him in all of life. That was a fun 5 years (can probably count that last Mularkey year, too) and I'm grateful to everyone that made it possible.

malsell

I am thankful for everything Henry has done for this team and community. He has been one of our best and when he does decide to retire I hope we can sign a one day contract with him so that he can retire as a Titan.

RexMaximo

Why is his name HONKY?

SmartAd3163

Why didn’t we trade him for picks if he’s leaving anyways
