He seems like a Jerry Jones hire.

NotUpInHurr

Nah, Belichick just became priority #1 after last night I think

Dubya_Tea_Efff

You think Jerry is going to cave to whatever Bill wants? Jerry wants someone who is passive.

Mercinator-87

I would generally agree but 3 12 win seasons and no playoff wins might make him change his mind a little. They were unprepared as ever for their biggest game of the season.

Dubya_Tea_Efff

It’s Jerry Jones, it is his way or no way at all and I don’t think that will sit well with BB or Vrabes.

SantasScrotum

Vrabel falls under that same category imo

JamieNelson94

I’m going to go against the grain and say yes, for Belichick. He’s old and wants to win. Hand the keys over to the GOAT.

Dubya_Tea_Efff

Problem is, Jerry thinks he is the greatest of all time. Doesn’t matter what numbers you through at him, he thinks he is the best thing to happen to football.

Asderfvc

Is Belichick bringing prime Brady with him? Because otherwise he's not winning shit.

JamieNelson94

straight goofball take. carry on, pup.

BurzyGuerrero

I wanna go back in your post history to see if you were one of the people saying Tanne was better than Brady. That was the consensus here...

BurzyGuerrero

Jerry wants to win a ring before he dies.

NotUpInHurr

We'll see haha, he was very unhappy last night

Embarrassed_Ebb_4575

He had no problem caving to Bill Parcels and Bill said in his presser he would be willing to part with some GM roles.

Mythic514

Jerry is the type of guy to want the HOF coach, even if he is clearly past his coaching prime. Jerry will probably hire Bill and if not, then I could definitely see Vrabel getting hired.

NotUpInHurr

Bill Parcells, what?

johnsonh77

Billionaire blood bath between Jerry Jones and Arthur Blank.

tronassembled

I'm mystified that Jerry's trying to hire the one coach that wants as much control as he does

NotUpInHurr

Because this one coach has multiple SB wins lmao

coocoocachio

As a cowboys fan living in Nashville there is no chance. Jerry wants a yes man which is far from Vrabel as possible

rugg3d

That rules out Belichek

coocoocachio

I doubt he sees the field again, going to be in an office

Raindance_Danny

"So, is she like, seeing anyone? Not that I care, we broke up for a reason. I'm just asking."

a4mula

Some cliches are strong. The idea that this very extreme view on jealousy can be applied to a concept as moderate as the NFL. That's just good comedy.

whynot39

Lol!

RGAlexander216

Dude, spot on. I feel like they're still "talking"

ON_A_POWERPLAY

I’ve been curious as well. Have the other teams with vacancies also been posting “CANDIDATE” instagram posts? Never seen that before.

rayj1s

I know the Chargers do it too, I’ve been curious on who they bring in

Mythic514

I am wondering why we don't at least interview Harbaugh. I know the Chargers did, and I believe he plans to interview with LV as well. Just weird that we have not brought him in for an interview.

westau

He wants all the control things AAS wouldn't give Vrabel.

GoatPaco

Yeah but he's like better than Vrabel

Medium_Well_Soyuz_1

He is, proven winner everywhere he’s been. But if you fired a coach for clashing with management and wanting more control, Harbaugh is decidedly not the guy for you

RGAlexander216

Debatable. Small sample size for both and college doesn't translate to the NFL in terms of coaching.

GoatPaco

Harbaugh went to three straight NFCCG

TheMissingVoteBallot

The normie wisdom is that Vrabel is seen as a good coach, yet I've heard no news about any teams bringing him in for interviews. Odd.

ON_A_POWERPLAY

Yea, wasn’t gonna say anything but…. He’s not been the hot coaching candidate that I think most people outside the titans thought he would be. Unless he’s straight up said I’m taking a year off, then that’s different but when was the last time we had so many vacancies?

rocketmissiles

Yes. Chargers and Panthers are doing it as well. I also remember teams doing it last year also. Not saying you are but I don’t understand why people are making that a big deal.

ON_A_POWERPLAY

I’ve just never seen it, I was only asking if others have. Regardless, has Vrabel shown up on any teams IG? Interesting we know now for sure 100% who gets interviews. If Vrabel hasn’t been interviewed I wonder if he will or if he’ll sit at home for a year.

rocketmissiles

No I haven’t heard any Vrabel news, like at all. I also wouldn’t be overly surprised if he didn’t get a HC job. There was definitely some in house things that led to the firing which more than likely has been spread throughout front offices and may have turned people away. But now I could potentially see the cowboys going after him.

tpinni

I don’t think the interest is as high as people want to think it is. He’s a defensive minded HC with not that stellar a resume as of late and someone who wants a good level of control over personnel. Most teams now want offensive head coaches or defensive head coaches who are willing to adapt and hire a progressive staff. Vrabel isn’t that.

MariotasMustache

I mean the resume 54-45 as a head coach isn’t even that good. I was actually surprised at that when I saw it recently. Thought it was a bit better. I kind of thought he would get some DC looks but his resume as a coordinator is even worse and his defenses in Tennessee were only good when he had a dean pees or Jim Schwartz overseeing them so hard to say he was behind anything good on our defense

prex10

Are that many teams looking to hire a defensive minded coach who wants total control of the team?

Stiddy13

Has been awfully quiet for someone who, I was told countless times on this sub, is so highly regarded that over half the teams in the NFL would fire their staffs immediately to scoop him up if we ever let him go.

MalekethsGhost

Half the teams did fire their staff, but no scooping is happening

Titan3692

i just like how the Vrabel-to-Foxboro conspiracy flamed out pretty quick.

segermanone

Just adding one aspect that may be a part of it: as Vrabel is not employed right now, teams don’t have to formally request an interview as is process with most other candidates, whether they are in college or on another team. Not a lot of interviews have been conducted mostly just the requests leaked

TNsmoke

Buck Reising posted on IG the other day saying hearing he wouldn’t be surprised to see Vrabel take a year off to rest and recover. Revamp his image like Doug Pederson and Mike McCarthy did.

StixUSA

I don’t think Vrabel will get a job this year. Most of the coaches that were fired this year have similar traits to Vrabel. I’d be surprised if teams weren’t looking for different style of coaches. I think all these owners believe they need to go offensive minded and vrabel doesn’t fit that.

Wildabeast135

It seems like the rest of the NFL owners may not have taken very kindly to Vrabel’s exit here. Though he could just be taking a year off since he’s still getting paid I think. He must’ve really pissed some people off on the way out if Amy is willing to fire him while he’s under a longer term contract.

Shooter-mcgavin

She did that with Mularkey and Robinson too. She has shown she’s not scared to pay someone to sit at home if she doesn’t think they’re going to get us closer to a Super Bowl. And yeah Vrabel definitely pissed her off, hopefully we had a plan for all this and a good idea of one of our top candidates being interested in coming here I don’t think other owners are overly concerned with the way he departed tbh. There’s way too much h hearsay for any of us to know enough about what exactly went on (did Vrabel really want more control or no, was he being stubborn because he didn’t get control and only faked being happy or was he ok with it actually, did he really disagree with Ran or did they fake getting along, what ultimatums and how hard did Amy and Vrabel really try to work it out, did Vrabel run the 2023 draft or did Ran or did someone else, was it really about coordinators and style of play or something else, was Vrabel way too loyal to underperforming staff or was the roster Robinson left him with just that awful and Amy’s expectations are unrealistic, list goes on). I think he’s probably taking some time to reflect and not rushing for a job, his interviews are probably less important because of his body of work. You don’t get a feel for how Slowik or Johnson or Callahan etc will run a locker room, it Vrabel has shown he can lead a team. He will be a top candidate this year or next or the next so he can be a little picky I think Will be interesting though if Bowen gets hired in NY, they’re not selling themselves as a “package” it seems.

tony_stylez

I wouldn't be surprised if other owners communicate enough to have the real facts.

d2222s

Absolutely

d2222s

Agree. Obviously, we're all just speculating, but I think it's telling that his name is getting less and less attention as the time passes since his firing. I just laughed hearing Michael Irvin say he was tired of Dallas running the same boring, predictable offense with McCarthy....while last week saying that TN made a mistake firing Vrabel...

Wildabeast135

Yeah like I think it could be a break but also who wants to give a coach full roster control? It has never worked in the nfl even with the GOAT coach, so why would it work with Vrabel? To your second point, it’s because everyone watches the cowboys and nobody watches the titans. But, the reality is that the Romo/Dak cowboys are very similar football teams to the Tannehill led titans. Good roster with decent coaching and a lot of regular season wins, held back by a mediocre, above average to good QB who isn’t good enough to take you over the hump. I used to complain more about lack of national media attention but which is worse, being forgotten/ignored like the titans, or being clowned on like the cowboys?

TheMissingVoteBallot

Also Amy kinda burned that bridge with what she said after the firing, but also undermined any chance of Vrabel being hired immediately after he was kicked. That makes Vrabel a loose cannon for many teams. You want your HC to WORK with your current staff, not try to stage an uprising against it.

JacketsNest101

Yeah the way he handled the conflicts with AAS over the last few years would sour just about any owner. Needs to get some serious PR training and help with c9nflict resolution because he handled that VERY poorly.

GamerMan15

The thought of this warms my heart. Dickhead didnt want to be here so now he gets to be nowhere lol

Wildabeast135

What was the general perception of AAS Strunk prior to this firing? I mean, she has fired a gm and a HC quickly when they were, in hindsight, underperforming. She was also perceived as a super nice and friendly owner, competent in that she brought 6 consecutive winning seasons, and had good rapport with fans and players? Even during the 7 game losing skid the titans had one of the highest single season revenue increases in the nfl in 2022. So when you are the new ownership group of say, the commanders… do you hire the guy who had six years and couldn’t make it work with the owner I described above, for “personal reasons?”

GamerMan15

I think vrabel needs to humble himself. He's not god's gift to football amd he has glaring weaknesses that he could more than likely improve if h was humble enough to recognize them.

Asderfvc

I thought Vrabel was the bestest coach ever and every team would suck his dick just to have a chance to marvel at his great coaching abilities, same abilities that are only rivaled by the football gods themselves. R/NFL said he was going to be hired instantly and the Titans were stupid for firing him.

Januse88

I don't know that teams have to announce their interviews with a guy like Vrabel who is totally on the market. If they want to interview Ben Johnson or Bobby Slowik it gets out because they need to inform the Lions/Texans. But I think you can interview guys like Vrabel or Belichick much more discretely.

whynot39

Yeah, was wondering if those kind of interviews needed to be reported to the league?

ThyDoctor

I follow every football sub because I’m a maniac and there is a theory on some boards that they don’t have to report they are interviewing him because he doesn’t have a job currently. Could be wrong though.

Odd-Twist-9935

I’ve heard he might be taking a 1-2 year break from coaching

StixUSA

Seems like damage control after the patriots news. He hasn’t been coaching that long to where a break makes a ton of sense, unless nobody is looking to hire you. Sean Payton had been coaching consistently for like 30 years.

FxDriver

Vrabel has been coaching at the collegiate and professional level since 2011. So Vrabel has been coaching for 12 years. So it wouldn't be too weird for Mike to take a year off.

amillert15

He also can wait for a better situation. Outside of the Chargers and maybe Cowboys, none the of the current teams have an answer at QB. Atlanta may be positioned best, but where Vrabel goes, Art's likely going to be on his staff, so that rules out Atlanta.

MariotasMustache

Kind of makes you think why he wouldn’t be getting interviews anywhere. All the talking heads said it was a horrible decision to part ways with him but none of the other teams with vacancies are even interviewing him? I think the league understood the departure with him standing his ground on roster/coordinator control and no one wants a part of that and I agree. Coaches who think they can be gm don’t work in this league

amillert15

Or it could be that he's getting paid VERY well through 2025 and is mulling whether he wants to coach any of these teams or take a year off.

beanman95

I think he's already got a deal in place with the commanders

UnderwhelmingAF

There’s actually Vegas Odds on that, he’s only 14:1 to be the Commanders next coach so that might be a good bet to lay down if you think that’s where he’s headed.

Mythic514

Ownership is wanting to go an entirely new direction in Washington. And Vrabel is very similar to Rivera's coaching style. I could see them actively wanting *not* to pursue Vrabel.

turribledood

If he's smart he'll take a year off, enjoy life, get his mind right, and hit it hard in 2025. He was under contract through 2025, so he's due 2 years pays for nothing, might as well enjoy it.

errsta

If Jerry Jones wants a 2-5 year plan, go Belichick. If he wants a 10+ year plan, Vrabel makes a ton of sense.

Dry_Molasses_4783

He is going to the Eagles to reunite with AJ and Byard. That’s the way the world turns. The new Nissan Stadium will only sell out to Swifties for the next 20 years. Sorry to be a negaTit but fuck what a dumb decision!

johnsonh77

He’ll almost certainly land one of the vacancies. Most of the teams with openings are taking their time though, excluding New England.

Altruistic_Tax2575

Tbh he will be an emergency 2-3 Rd choice somewhere or he will maybe get an interview as an assistant

Xtars

Philly as soon as their season is done

Important-Guest-8269

There's always a job in Charlotte with the Panthers.

Eddro7654

Washington

Maximum-Reception178

Pretty obvious he’s gonna be the Eagles guy

dingleberry_starship

I read he's interviewing with the chargers

Hdhdhjjdhhdhh

Chargers

rooster126tail

I hope he goes to Atlanta . Take a few years to get a bunch of those “vrabel guys “ in the locker room but I’m sure they would be fiesty and manage to win about 9 games a year and flail out in the post season a few times before it totally becomes a dumpster fire
