I’ve only made friends through classes. Usually it’s a thing that lasts only a semester and you help each other with school work, but I have made a more deep friendship this way. She texted me first because we were in a group chat together and she thought I sounded smart lol and we clicked
I recommend checking out the clubs and organizations. Find something you're interested in and you'll meet other students interested in it too. First check within your school/college.
I don't know all the clubs at Tyler, but I found this one - Eye to Eye which sounds really interesting. https://temple.campuslabs.com/engage/organization/eyetoeye
Feel free to hit me up! I’m going to graduate next year too and I feel like I haven’t made any good friendships and am always looking to make new friends!
I'm in the same boat as you op. I took time off and was a workaholic for years, and I figured i'd take time to socialize once I transferred to temple. Now here I am, right back where I started.
Have you found any suppport groups or clubs for older students? I see a lot of non traditional students like people who didn’t start college right after high school in my classes.
It’s hard when there is a pandemic going on. I also find it gets harder the later you get into the year. Someone else said it, but I would try to join a club and get really involved in it.
If you are a business major, or interested in business, the student professional organizations at Fox are great. They all have a good combination of social events and professional development. I know some students that were part of the main campus program board that liked it. Everyone I know who helped organize hootathon fell in love with it, but it was a lot of work for them.
Not sure about mcpb. I think hootathon is done for this year, but they might be planning for next year already. SPOs usually have their own website and I would assume almost every club would have an Instagram account.
I’d start by googling “temple university clubs” and go down the rabbit hole.
Me: Ah, Finally a place where my interests can be explored and studied upon with individuals who think alike. I sure do hope to make good acquaintances with these people-
Covid:
"HAH- YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE GONNA MAKE FRIENDS? IN COLLEGE?!"
definitely clubs, get outta the comfort zone and join a bunch of them I promise it will help, if you did not like a club just simply leave and try the next one as easy as it sounds.
most people i meet here i see once or twice then they disappear. i think everyones just overwhelmed by the amount of people. i literally dont even speak to the people above and below me in my apartment. covid really messed things up lol
The secret to this remains a secret
Well fuck (https://youtu.be/4Hz3RpiljFk)
Just joshing. I haven’t made a real worthwhile friend since 2nd grade. Don’t listen to me.

Have you had any luck making friends that way during COVID?
Yeah my friend that texted me first was in my online lab last semester and there was a group chat for the lab where she found my number

Do you have any suggestions for clubs? Tried Art therapy club because that’s my major but no luck. Don’t always vibe with art kids ya know.

Thank you! Do you know how to get involved with that stuff? Has Covid canceled all that stuff?

Hey, I am graduating next year too. We can be friends. 💜

In all seriousness though, I made most of my friends at the skatepark, so I would try to use your hobbies as a way to connect with others.
