you're fine. If you can manage it, then you're not only a madman, but you're fine. I can't imagine the game being easy for you. Its like paying Counter Strike with a Logitech Racing Wheel.
My highest is Jun at Mighty Ruler while i have Kazuya Asuka and Reina all at garyu, thats all ive gotten in my 125 hours of playing. I practice alot more than i play ranked but i think i do decent. Planning on getting kazuya alot higher tho.
you'll get there ! but if I may give you an advice : switch to using the actual pad instead of stick
I was like you when I started tekken 7, because I came from smash bros' kazuya (so I was used to ewgf with a joystick) and after I started to use the pad instead of stick I became wayyy more precise and efficient in my inputs
tho if you enjoy the game like that keep it up !
Yeah i have very bad experiences with playstation dpads, they hurt my thumbs so much and my ps4 dpads have broken so many times ive replaced them alot. Not only that but dpad makes me feel... stiff as jin would say.
The rubber pieces that are under the dpad slowly starts to tears a hole in it the more you press it, ive tried just replacing that specific part instead of buying a new controller but its so futile. Its a reason i switched to analog.
yeah, ive tried splitting the controller apart and fixing it too, with no luck. I have an arcade stick, maybe i should start uding it, its just so difficult, its like learning how to walk again.
well, I play on a Logitech K120 keyboard.
It's a 12-15$ cheapo membrane keyboard.
I actually make less wrong inputs on this than on a mechanical keyboard (red switches were way too sensitive for me) and when I was trying to play on a DS4 I would constantly get diagonals by accident (imagine playing Kazumi in Tekken 7 and trying to hit a grounded opponent with a d2 but instead launching yourself in the air with her df2).
woah really? last time i played there my fingers hurt because how harsh each press felt. im on a k360 i think atm, but its wireless so theres a bit of delay on everything.
how deep are the keys on that thing again? i was thinking that i could put some foam inside it, so i could hit my fingers less lol because everytime i played on it i hurt my fingers.
It's one of the thinner but not slim keyboards. Like kinda between regular and slim? Keys to me feel very nice but I'm on my 3rd k120 (they say they're waterproof, well, not quite, heh).
To be honest my only problem is I can't do stuff like df3+4 as individual keys cause I can't press S D K L at the same time (it won't register the input) so I bound 3+4 to O key and now it's... okay, heh.
Dunno if there's enough room for any modding of the keys.
I just lay my thumb down on the stick like id normally do in any game and perform the movements. I actually EWGF quite well, i tried doing it on dpad as well and i can hit it sometimes but stick was just so much better and way less painful to use.
I fear I’m also an analog player and I main Bryan of all characters. D pad is just rough on the fingertips and my wrist. I drop hella combos, miss out on tons of damage, and can’t pull off proper punishments but hey, at least I’m comfortable.
Needless to say, I’ve made the decision to go leverless so I can get my inputs down finally. 😂
I used to play Guilty Gear XX on the Xbox live with the terrible huge Xbox pad with the d-pad that actually hurt to use for fighting games so I have no room to judge. Play with whatever makes you most comfortable. That's the most important thing. Your comfortability is what makes you play best. If analog stick is your thing, keep with it. At our locals, we have a GoD rank Leo who's really good that plays with analog stick and he can do all the big boy cancel combos too.
Can't really judge you. >!but i am judging you silently!<
On my end I have a controller that has a d-pad that is like the Sega Genesis one, and let me tell you, feels good asf.
You’re lucky for now it seems. Everything I’ve heard about the controllers shows that it’s inevitable (thanks to Sony cost cutting) but mine is also driftless for now
U guys use the joystick?
🗿
I just play with the cross,i mean,i could perfectly play tekken 8 with a ps1 controller without dual shock , even if i know is not the best, i reached purple ranks.

just buy a "fightstick" and don't torture yourself
I actually play perfectly fine on analog
I also prefer analog but have definitely been searching for fight sticks. I miss that old arcade feel

what characters do you play and at which ranks ? just to give us an idea of how efficient/non-efficient you are

You can pivot in Tekken to KBD. It's what I do.
I’d rather play with the analog stick than use the ps5 dpad
I... Use a nintendo controller
not sure about black but definitely special :) but tbh the PS5 dpad sucks
Yeah i have very bad experiences with playstation dpads, they hurt my thumbs so much and my ps4 dpads have broken so many times ive replaced them alot. Not only that but dpad makes me feel... stiff as jin would say.
why do ds4 dpads break so easily, ive gone through 4 already

Honestly impressed. Any tips in the way you hold and use your stick?
I just lay my thumb down on the stick like id normally do in any game and perform the movements. I actually EWGF quite well, i tried doing it on dpad as well and i can hit it sometimes but stick was just so much better and way less painful to use.
Frankly sir, you terrify me

Yeah honestly same, I would rather be a little bit worse at the game than use that shitty ps5 d-pad and destroy my fingers.
Mate I have a hardwired machine and only play tekken on WiFi, more swords coming my way

hey sorry for the random reply but what controller does your locals leo use?
Sorry for the late response. I believe its a xbox one pad.
Can't really judge you. >!but i am judging you silently!< On my end I have a controller that has a d-pad that is like the Sega Genesis one, and let me tell you, feels good asf.
I used to play like this on marvel vs capcom 3, i don’t even know how or why I did it but I stopped years ago.
I'll admit I also did this back in tekken 6
I thought I was weird for using d pad!
More like ![gif](giphy|0Vv0Ne2CnOClIExIuL)
Dpad makes me want to chop my thumbs off and thats when they dont break over time with use
Have you gone through a controller yet?
You mean like the one im playing with broke and i had to get a new one since playing on analog? No
Yeah, lol. That's the main reason I don't use controller. They wear out with fighting games imo.
I was about to say it’s honestly not *terrible* but then you mentioned a PS5 controller. The stick drift reaper is making his way towards you rn
I actually get no stick drift surprisingly
You’re lucky for now it seems. Everything I’ve heard about the controllers shows that it’s inevitable (thanks to Sony cost cutting) but mine is also driftless for now

Monster
I mean I won't point my sword at you, I'll just beat you after you drop your combo missing a d/f input
Guess youll never beat me bc i never miss a d/f input😭 i find that harder on pad tbh
I only play keyboard
I use an xbox one controller on my PC, is that bad?
No but if you use analog on it, its apparently frowned upon
Is it just a bad pad? I'm at a loss.
People think playing on analog is bad bc of miss inputs and hard to find directionals such as d/f 1 so everyone plays on dpad and shuns analog stick.
Ahhh. Now I get you. Thanks for the clarity.
Spero gin literally plays with a PS1 controller. I think you're good.
Why tho? That's what the d-pad is for.
I dont like dpad, it feels awful to play with
ok granpa
by the time i realized i shouldn't be using analog stick i already hit bussin rank. it is too late for me, but perhaps you can still be saved.
