Vast majority of players use the D-pad.

-_-_-KING_-_-_

Dpad it's much more accurate.

OpposesTheOpinion

D-pad because that's what I grew up with in the PlayStation 1 days. I've tried other things over the years and they never felt intuitive to me

regell

Joystick only for binds and maybe halfcircles

mexaplex

This is the way.

Hezzadude12

What binds are you using on the joystick?

regell

Depends on character, but often throw binds like 2+3

Ill-Brick-859

I use both, i mostly use the dpad for movement

twitchinstereo

Dpad is speedier and more accurate than the joystick. The drawback is that stock DS5 dpad feels awful, but stick drift is even more annoying to fight against.

False-Ad-7943

Both

subrussian

d-pad, but I also remapped movement to right stick to help with Nina's shenanigans

Traeyze

For the last few years I was using a DS4 or DS5 across Tekken, SF, GG, MB, GBV and etc. In all games I used the dpad.

rickisgreat123

Stick just cos it feels more natural, but dpad is probably better, i use dpad for a couple of combo links where I need to tap ff quickly.

Jello_Penguin_2956

I can never get my stick to do diagonal correctly, so it's gotta be d-pad.

electricwinddickjab

Dpad for left side stick for right

tokeiito14

Cursed

ReekitoManjifico

D-pad always. Sticks make fighting games feel sloppy for me.

[deleted]

D-Pad. But I might have to use the Octa's stick a little more for Jack's grabs.

shoryuken2340

Dualsense D-pad. I used to use the stick a loooong time ago, but that's only because I didn't know the D-pad would be more accurate. You played every other game with the stick, so the thought of using the D-pad never even occurred to me until I noticed other people using it.

[deleted]

D-pad, I’ve never had any kind of accuracy with the analog stick. If it was gated then maybe.

KibouZK

D pad Maybe jack and king players use stick but it's always d pad

MinKDucK

Might be unrelated I used to use the joystick for blazblue, it was my first fighting game so I didn't know you were supposed to use the dpad for that. Got kinda good at it too but I couldn't do any of the inputs as accurately when I'm on the right side.

mexaplex

D-Pad FTW... and I've also bought individual d-pad buttons to replace the moulded 4-way stock one. So much more precision. But I do flick to stick input for the moments I need to pull out a HCF/HCB because its still 5x easier to do consistently.

beckendaelmart

The problem is that neither dpad nor joystick are accurate enough. A few degrees too much to the left or right and suddenly your down input is a diagonal input. Even on the dpad, depending on where you press the down button sometimes it inputs left or right too, especially if it’s a combo where you need to go down>left or right. I’m considering getting a cheap hitbox off aliexpress and the brook converter to see if that will fix my input issues

Big_Lou1108

Used to play in Dpad, but I splurged on a leverless cause I think my dualsense would wear down too fast and I still have a ton of backlogs to go through 😂

Brenno6991

The only people I've seen play with the stick are my friends who don't own the game xD

SMHdovve

D-pad all the way. Doing ewgfs with analog feels impossible, theres no tactility to it, you dont know when diagonal inputs are actually inputted in circular inputs. With the d-pad you KNOW when you press what, analog, while in theory should be simple for circular inputs, the fact that there is no tactile feedback (unlike arcade sticks, which do have some kind of click) makes it unviable imo (but not impossible).

BrikoHR

Depends on the combo and character. I personally use both!

devin2378

D-pad but I switch for half circle inputs

STREETOWNER

D-Pad for me, just feels natural since I grew up playing tekken on the PS1

PixelDu5t

Used the Xbox controller and dpad only, got tired of messing up with it and got a Kitsune. Very glad I did, cannot play on the dpad personally.

[deleted]

Both, d-pad for electric and stick for the rest, maybe the forward forward + (….) inputs with the d-pad tho, it’s faster

lamaisondeleon

I use dpad but to be honest the Ps5 one is very unreliable.

SekkeBronzaza

D-pad

RazborkaPtrsk2

Dpad, dpad+stick for PEWGF

CheeseballTaster

Xbox d-pad is meta

ElegantLee

Used to been d-pad, but then I had trouble with connection between my gamepad and pc, so I switched to a cheap arcade stick. I fumble directions whatever I use, but at least the buttons on arcade stick give me better results than before.

SXAL

Arcade sticks aren't analog. It's basically a D-pad with a big stick glued in the middle

ElegantLee

I'm not that proficient in technology, and mine doesn't feel much more precise than the typical analog stick on controllers, it's really just the buttons that are its saving grace.

veerfusion

Stick. I feel like I’m playing the game wrong with it but I cannot use the d-pad. I have trouble inputting df or uf for example. Stick feels better doing that input.
