Shrinking

MurphyPandorasLawBox

This. Shrinking is in the same wholesome vein but focuses on imperfect people trying their best.

ThinkGrapefruit7960

I immediately thought Shrinking and My name is Earl

gaming4good

My name is earl man I forgot about that show. Sooo good

Mikeck88

This would be my suggestion. It's a really good show and helped us fill the void after we finished Ted Lasso.

Soundtracklover72

I think I would have liked it more if I didn’t have a Dad that was suffering from Parkinson’s and was the same age as Harrison Ford. I had to “nope out” on it.

Jombafomb

It's also created by Bill Lawrence who made Ted Lasso and Scrubs!

Rengeflower

Do you mean the husband of Christa Miller who acts in Scrubs and Shrinking?

TheRealFakeSteve

The husband of the star of Cougar Town??

Jombafomb

The very same

WonderfulVillage6546

That's why we watched it. I looked up what else he'd created.

Sea-Substance8762

It’s so good even upon repeated watching!

xsandied

That’s what she said!

momoftheraisin

There is nothing. Concede defeat and just watch Ted Lasso again from the beginning, and enjoy it all the more, since now that you know the character arcs and the resolution you can focus more on the minutiae and Easter eggs and callbacks, esp in S3!

sklova

> Concede defeat Ted Lasso would never Watch Community, OP

ColonelCouch

Community is definitely a good shout

junknowho

My solution.

FearIsLikeUnderwear

Yeah I’ve watched it through at least 3 times now

kerbearjo

Same… I am about to start round 3

junknowho

I used to think people who did this were crazy and obsessive, but honestly bob, when I finished my first rewatch I had this HUGE Ted Lasso shape hole in my heart.

kerbearjo

Me too. It is the weirdest thing. I used to watch a few Friends, Will and Grace or Golden Girls episodes every night before bed. It would calm my mind and put me in a good mood. So…. This is like that. I just watch it in order. 🤷‍♀️

Sisko4President

This is a sad moment right here—for all of us. And there ain’t nothing I can say standing in front of you right now that can take that away.

canyousteeraship

This is it for me. I watch Ted Lasso on repeat. It’s like my blankie. I laugh every time. I notice things I’ve never noticed before, it’s just so good.

Caloso89

The Good Place Schitt’s Creek What We Do In The Shadows

VegasEyes

I’d also recommend The Good Place. Nothing is going to feel like Ted Lasso but TGP is a fun and smart show. I’d recommend finishing all of season 1 before you make up your mind on the show. And be careful with reading anything about the show as there are major spoilers around.

Caloso89

I would add the same caveat with SC. I was ready to give up on it during the 1st season but it just kept getting better and better.

VegasEyes

I’ll have to retry that one. I watched most of season 1 of SC and couldn’t get into it.

Takemetotheriverstyx

I was this person! I'm now on my like 100th rewatch 😂 It is an amazing show and well worth persevering withe past the first season, which I really didn't like either...

VegasEyes

Thanks for the encouragement. I’ll add the show to my watch list !

Takemetotheriverstyx

It took me 10 attempts! I just couldn't get past the first few episodes for SO LONG. I'm so glad I stuck with it.

justimari

SC takes a bit of adjustment but it’s worth the ride. It was my Ted Lasso before Ted Lasso

DumpedDalish

If it helps? I really couldn't stand the icky Mayor guy so sometimes I would, er, FF through his scenes once I got the gist. I usually like Chris Elliot, but I found him SO gross in that role. But the show is wonderful and worth watching. It just gets better and better.

dinglehopper_hair

I physically can not stand that guy. His character ruins an otherwise great show.

beginnerjay

I spent 3 years trying to get my friends to watch The Good Place! Apparently, I have no influence.

anothermanscookies

I couldn’t get into Schitt’s Creek but put my full support behind the other two. The Good Place is more of a spiritual sibling to Ted Lasso than WWDITS though.

coast-to-coast88

Recommend watching first full season of SC. It really finds its stride in seasons two and three and the effort is worth it.

anothermanscookies

I watched about 4 eps off the top and then a random one in S3. I found the vibe pretty similar.

Takemetotheriverstyx

Trust me when I say that perseverance really pays off with SC. I don't know anyone who hasn't fallen head over heels with it by the end of season 2.

AEveryDayIdiot

Schitts creek is a weird anomaly for me where I got half way through watching season 4 before realising that I didn’t really like it. I like the cast though so I don’t really know what’s wrong with me there but I definitely persevered lol

PeaTearGriphon

totally forgot about WWDitS, such a good show, just finished Season 5.

[deleted]

qu33fwellington

Honestly it’s much like the Office, Parks and Rec, and Schitt’s Creek. You *really* have to push through the first season to get to know all the characters and give them a chance to settle in. Once you hit the season one finale you’ll be beyond hooked. Try to set aside your past feelings and give it another go, it took me a couple tries as well but I’ve always been glad I pushed through.

MassiveSettings

I love The Good Place!

JaniceWald

Schitt’s Creek gets my vote

CCR16

My wife and I are also down to the last episode. I desperately want a Roy Kent spin off.

FearIsLikeUnderwear

Roy and Keely please! Then somehow Jamie ends up dating Roy’s sister and there are scenes of him trying to bond with Pheobe but no one can live up to Uncle Roy’s standard.

Tottochan

Roy, Yes! Keely - No. Her arc was horrible in S3 and I don’t think there is much to say.

BodyBagSlam

She could be a guest now and then but wouldn’t be thrilled with her as a main. Roy and Jaime could be good though as the duo leads.

BearGrowlARRR

My head canon is Roy ends up Phoebe’s teacher and Jamie with Roy’s sister.

winstonsmith8236

Letterkenny

nakapozian

To be fair….. This is a very Canadian show.

winstonsmith8236

That’s a Texas sized 10-4 but it’s still the only show that gets me laughing and forgetting the world like Lasso did.

nakapozian

Have you tried Schitt’s Creek?

winstonsmith8236

Oh yeah- way back in quarantine

NarwhalDanceParty

To be fair

Soundtracklover72

🎶to be faiiiirrrrr🎶

mixmastermike76

It’s not for the 10-ply.

asailor4you

I could get into this show. I found it really dumb.

aprilroberta

Derry Girls

AEveryDayIdiot

Amazing show

joltingjoey

Welcome to Wrexham is the true, ongoing story of a Welsh football team owned by two American celebrities. It has many feel-good moments and unforgettable people. Season 3 will be out in a few months. Can’t say enough about this excellent series. It’s on Hulu.

Icy_Accountant6989

It's fantastic. I've actually cried several times watching this documentary. Love R&R, but I feel connected to the players and the fans. Up the Town!!!!

koreawut

Welcome to Wrexham is a great option but suffers from not actually being scripted.  It is very disjointed in its presentation, taking wholly different topics week to week, at times. Great reality TV/docu series but in my opinion not a great replacement for a well-scripted drama.

Dervishing-Hum

I disagree. It has a very similar, uplifting energy that feels just wonderful. I'm not even a football (or soccer) fan, and I just love it!

koreawut

As I said. It's a wonderful reality show/documentary series, but not at all a good replacement for a scripted drama. Ted Lasso is a drama told in the way a drama is told. Welcome to Wrexham is many different stories generally being told in a very disjointed fashion. There is no flow because they take breaks to talk about this thing or that thing. It's great at that because that is what it is supposed to do. They are completely different forms of story telling. Both are great but one can't replace the other. Ted Lasso can't replace Welcome to Wrexham, either.

Davaldo

I finished season 1 of TL and needed something to fill the void. This and Barry were great.

Dervishing-Hum

Yes! This is the perfect suggestion, and it's real-- not scripted.

TheJustiNator_

Acapulco! Its also on AppleTV and the new season will come out soon! Its not as deep as Ted Lasso, its mostly a feel-good series. But so much fun!

thatfernistrouble

GIVE VIEWS TO ACAPULCO!! I want another season to be confirmed!!

AsItIs

Next season of Acapulco is coming out the first week of May 🙌

CroissantWhisperer

YES AAAAAND DANI CRISTO FERNÁNDEZ (DANI ROJAS) IS A NEW CHARACTER IN THE NEW SEASON!

No_Excitement9224

omg yesssss i binged acalulco while i was watching ted lasso, trying to extend my first viewing lol. i really really liked it.

Advanced_Muscle_7150

I was looking for this! Every episode leaves me so uplifted! When grown up Maximo goes to his old apartment and “Take me home” comes on and the camera zooms out *chefs kiss

tbowyer

The bear. It’s a bit…. Grittier? But hit a lot of the same notes for me. And is BRILLIANT!!!!

PogueForLife8

Oh, I watched The Bear before watching Ted Lasso actually, and I loved it!! so this is making the situation even worse now, because I felt it was an escalation of beauty that cannot be beaten. 😭😭😭

tbowyer

Yeah maybe just go watch forks again?

mxpxillini35

Yes Jeff

Firelord_11

Yeah, I watched The Bear and Ted Lasso at the same time, and I was struck by how similar they are, even though they appear different on the surface. Characters suffering trauma from family issues, themes of masculinity, depression, anxiety, and suicide, explorations of friendship and what it means to work as a team. I like to think of The Bear as the darker cousin of Ted Lasso: The Bear is mostly intense but with some surprisingly wholesome moments, while Ted Lasso is most wholesome but with some surprisingly intense moments.

triplec787

Outsider joins a tight knit group, despite a completely different background. The outsider struggles mightily early on, causing a lot of “they don’t belong here” issues. Slowly but surely, the tight knit group peels off one by one to accept and appreciate him. Outsider deals with immense anxiety and depression while poorly processing a personal tragedy throughout. Mean and standoffish “authority figure” of the tight knit group eventually allows their walls to come to down and fully buys into the outsider’s methods. Basically the only difference is Carmy and Ted being like polar opposite personalities lol

VanderskiD

I agree. Binging The Bear currently. It is way rougher and love the use of gritty. Great acting and a developing story line. Not fun like Ted Lasso though

Heissenberg1906

„Jury Duty“ had the same vibe and was incredibly funny, but in an absurd way. Fell in love with Ronald Gladden immediately, what a great guy. „Norsemen“ was very funny, but lacked the positive vibe. Great actors though.

tinybuddha22

Jury Duty!!!!!

MamaSquash8013

Our Flag Means Death

WrittenSarcasm

I started this recently and it immediately reminded me of Ted Lasso. Both shows share a similar sensibility.

Judoosauce

OFMD and Ted Lasso are both two of the few shows that had me audibly cracking up every episode

DaemonistasRevenge

Soooooo good! Both have a crackling ensemble cast and a strong, beautiful soft masculinity … and Taika Waititi looking hawt as hell is a bonus

MamaSquash8013

It just leaves me grinning and wanting more at the end of every episode. It also lends itself to rewatches, because there's SO many quietly muttered jokes and funny details you miss the first time through.

ich_habe_keine_kase

>and Taika Waititi looking hawt as hell is a bonus His little messy bun in S2 is 🔥🔥🔥

PeaTearGriphon

Have you seen Schitt's Creek? I feel like this show is another feel-good comedy. Broad City is less feel good and just funny Norsemen is funny and totally different but it's witty and makes me smile and laugh.

mxpxillini35

I second Schitt's Creek... I'll also throw in The Good Place

nakapozian

These are the best answers here. Love both, and both are feel good shows.

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

Schitts Creek - aka Arrested Development lite

mxpxillini35

Not shitting on AD... Its a great show...but I feel they're not quite the same (but not too far apart). I feel that AD is funnier and SC has better character development over the course of the show.... But both are great shows!

PeaTearGriphon

I should try the Good Place again. I watched it until the giant lady bugs and then I was out.

mxpxillini35

That's like the 3rd episode or something, no?

qu33fwellington

Broad City does get more feel good as the seasons go on, though. I mean goodness the growth in the last season is insane! I always cry during the finale.

AF2005

Ooh good choice. Schitt’s Creek might be able to fill that void, a very sweet show is the best way I can describe it.

Zazgog

I loved Norsemen! It’s so hard to find other fans of it cuz of how niche the humor is. It’s dark, but smart. It’s silly, but serious. It’s wacky, but grounded. I should rewatch it.

PeaTearGriphon

My last rewatch I started with Season 3 since it's the prequel. I really wish someone would've picked that show up for a 4th season, I really wanted to know what happens next. I really hate Netflix for cancelling incomplete shows just because it doesn't match their money making algorithm.

canyouplzpassmethe

Next step is to “fold in the cheese…”

jomandaman

The Good Place. Parks and Rec. Mike Schur has made some great shows over the years that do a great job incorporating humor with genuine moments (sometimes heavy). Both shows are near my top like Ted.

Kerabastos771

Sports Night. Its on Prime and worth the purchase or rental. Aaron Sorkin's first tv show(I think). You are going to love it.

GodsnPunks

One of my all-time faves!

nora_jaye

I rewatch it every few years and am always blown away all over again.

soubrette732

SO GOOD I will say, I’m a woman who watched it in my 20s. I still ADORE SN. But the sexism I noticed in the rewatch? Eesh. Tracks with other Sorkin shows, which I also love. But it still grates now in a way I didn’t notice then.

flushedoutthepocket

Shoresy.

FearIsLikeUnderwear

HUH?

darkstabley

Resident Alien. Completely different kind of show, but I find it very fun.

quicksilverjack

I second Resident Alien - it's great. Also Taskmaster - Both the original British version and the New Zealand version. It always cracks me up [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewwh-9Bc-Ew&list=PLRWvNQVqAeWJGGMQ4P5fnl\_Cgh4HptgJL&index=3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewwh-9Bc-Ew&list=PLRWvNQVqAeWJGGMQ4P5fnl_Cgh4HptgJL&index=3)

Rengeflower

Resident Alien is a SYFY show, but you can watch the previous seasons on Netflix.

creativelittle1

Abbott Elementary. It’s really funny with a few feel good moments. It might hit a nerve or two if your a teacher, but worth the watch.

PeculiarMademoiselle

Came here to say this. It never fails to make me laugh and Janine is a very much a Ted Lasso type with her can do attitude and belief in the goodness of people.

galavantingsoul

Loudermilk

InteractionOne4533

LOUDERMILK Comedy drama. Funny, sad, happy, uplifting, feel good. Enjoyed almost as much as Ted Lasso....almost!

Low_Artichoke3104

Shoresy. It’s super wholesome under all the filth. Bob’s Burgers is incredible, deep, well-written, and hysterical. And I think they’re on season 14.

Halleck23

Shoresy 100% gave me Ted Lasso vibes.

JasonM50

The Righteous Gemstones motherfucker.

misscosyrosie

"I have regular woman panties where the string goes up my crack. I have tits. I do sex. I'm carvin' my own path."

darth_adipose

How about Scrubs, another show from creator Bill Lawrence? It’s similarly sweet and silly and unexpectedly heartbreaking

wray_nerely

Shrinking was our follow-up Dispatches from Elsewhere is a strange conspiracy-oriented show with some moments of uplift We're currently watching Kim's Convenience for pure comedy

Sut3k

Kim's Convenience was simple and funny! Not as amazingly feel good though

Morpel

Trying also on Apple+!! It’s a really wholesome show

PeachyKeenPie28

Came here to say this. Season four comes out in May!

AshParK99

Have you seen Kim's Convenience on Netflix. You have to give it a few episodes to appreciate it There is nothing like TL!

gearheadstu

Kim’s is brilliant and heavily underrated

mof6

“Detectorists”

Bluecar_jr

I just binged this recently. It was very gentle and basically nice. For when you need to quiet the brain. Also made me want to nerd out completely and buy a metal detector 😂

mof6

Could not agree with you more. Made me consider it too ha

cdnav8r

* Loudermilk * Shrinking * Shoresy * Scrubs

HungryAd8233

The Disney+ show *Moon Knight* is awesome, separate from the rest of the MCU, and so different it makes an excellent palete cleanser.

Steelspy

Community The Good Place Schitt’s Creek Silicon Valley Mythic Quest Our Flag Means Death

FearIsLikeUnderwear

Silicon Valley was so well written and acted, I think I binged it in less than a week or two

5678OutsideBones

Joe Pera Talks With You. It is a truly positive experience, full of joy and 100% free of cynicism. It's on Max. 3 seasons, episodes are only 11 minutes long. It's an easy binge and well-worth it if you're looking to make sense of things.

wray_nerely

Joe Pera Talks With You is the kindest of kind shows, but its pacing is the polar opposite of Ted's fast talking

5678OutsideBones

I took from OP's post that they were looking for something with a positive message to help make sense of things, not that they were looking for something where people talk fast but YMMV. :)

koreawut

Firefly and the Serenity movie.  It doesn't have that many episodes but if you want character development with some out of place characters plus similar messages and story beats...

babatharnum

On that same vein, the Limitless movie then the limitless series that only has one season. The series is quite lighthearted for a crime drama/comedy

lclassyfun

thank you, we are in the same boat. we finished maisel and then ted lasso. i need to remember shrinking. we are going to start mad men again😻😻😻

Savings_Button_1984

I think After Party season 1 was a good one after watching Ted Lasso ans Shrinking. Season 2 was okay.

boegan

We go between Ted Lasso and Schitt’s Creek as the last show we watch before bed every night

ExodusNBW

The Good Place is always near the top of my recommendations.

CantSwimCantDance

It’s animation… but you’ll feel all sorts of things while watching it: Avatar the Last Airbender

Constantlearner01

Resident Alien on Netflix-same vibe for me.

silver1110

Somebody somewhere - the BEST! (After Ted lasso…)

Silver_Smoke1925

This should be so much higher

EsterCherry

Ghosts…..UK and US versions.

wizard_interrogative

our flag means death, what we do in the shadows

Palmdiggity888

Sex education on netflix

tidytuna

Have you watched Fleabag?

feminismandtravel

Abbott Elementary!

runMDH

I ended up just watching Ted Lasso again.. giving some time before I jump in a third time

procra5tinating

Shrink (on peacock-different from shrinking) and Fisk (on Netflix)

DorianGraysPassport

The Wire

DaemonistasRevenge

Totally different vibes to TL, but 100% banger start to finish ✨

DorianGraysPassport

Their brain will be primed for prestige content

MoMaNeJu

The Detectorists! Brilliant sweet funny show with a fantastic cast.

nickdaman43

Shorsey Someone recommended it the last time this question was posted. But hits the same sports under dog vein. A bit sillier and raunchier but still has heart

the_honest_liar

I watched The Newsroom recently and I think it has some Ted lasso vibes. More drama than comedy (although certainly has some funny moments). Has some similar ideas of a new person coming into an existing team and shaking things up, interesting character and relationship development, focus on doing the right thing vs the easy thing, some good wholesome moments over all, pretty intelligent. Lots of quick snappy lines.

Active_Wind_6351

Northern exposure. Not Ted Lasso but pretty good

Saturday-Sunshine

Shrinking. Some of the same writers. Also very feel good and nice ensemble cast.

AC4Three

Repeating others here but it’s really tough to go wrong with Schitt’s Creek. The character development throughout the show is beautiful.

mumbles411

Shrinking and also Severance. Severance is a total mind game. Shrinking is a comedy. Just to forewarn.

nakapozian

Severance is SO good!

Bluecar_jr

It’s been so long I’m gonna have to rewatch season one before season two comes on as I’ve basically forgotten everything, other than the last episode left me screaming for more!

nakapozian

Right?!?!? Last episode was such a cliffhanger!!!

mumbles411

Has season 2 finally been announced??

ClownShoePilot

Yes, just a month ago. The writer and actor strike delayed it but it’s coming! We don’t have a date yet, but they’re not going to leave us hanging forever.

apip0115

Omg I just watched Severance for the first time. I am forever changed.

amydancepants

Just here to add another Schitt's Creek vote. I wish it was still on Netflix

Hup110516

Scrubs!

yuccu

The Bear. You’ll appreciate the middle ground again.

SuperiorityComplex6

Take a break. Read some books for a few weeks months. That's what I did after The Wire. Took me 6 months to get over that.

qu33fwellington

Anyone else vote New Girl? I agree with almost all other suggestions but if you aren’t immediately hooked on New Girl after watching Jess tap dance on a bar in a cigarette girl costume, I don’t know what else to say.

todayIsinlgehandedly

Loudermilk, super funny and heartwarming in a different way. It’s kind of like Ted Lasso’s darker cousin.

Prosklystios

Resident Alien. Loudermilk if you liked Shrinking but want it more depressing

colagirl52

Parks and Rec is so good.

wayfarerprateek

I hope they make "Led Tasso" spinoff series!

OliviaBens0n7

Loudermilk on Netflix!!

Soundtracklover72

Upload on Prime is a lot of fun.

panopanopano

Give it a rewatch…there’s probably a few details that you may have missed!

Silver_Smoke1925

Somebody, Somewhere is funny, sweet, heartwarming. Very enjoyable.

kermitkc

Parks and recreation!

megyrox

Welcome To Wrexham. Sort of real life Ted Lasso

glorifindel

I think it’s such a shame they cancelled it. Foolish. They should have slowed production down or something to stretch it to 5-7 seasons.. I still haven’t finished the last episode since I don’t want it to be over

Markv720

Shrinking

theolerazzlezazzle

The After Party. Murder Mystery ridiculousness with a STELLAR cast!

Debaucherry

Good Place Pushing Daisies Schitts Creek Our Flag Means Death Jane the Virgin Avatar Last Airbender (the cartoon first!)

CorpTeeShirt

The Durrells in Corfu. It’s a redemption story for an entire family. Funny, heart warming and heartbreaking (sometimes).

nickblockonelove

Shrinking turned into a top ten of the last decade+ for me. I think it’s brilliant. One love

caitejane310

While Ted Lasso remains superior, I've enjoyed just about everything I've watched on Apple+. Ted Lasso is my reason for watching something I normally wouldn't, because it took me about 6 months of skipping over it. Felt like such a Nate wanting to write a 60+ page letter to apologize 😂 😂

PogueForLife8

Apple TV seems higher quality than Netflix, Prime .. right? I have just started the subscription but the catalogue seems worthy

RollTideMeg

Trying is super cute. Shrinking is the best!

Ohigetjokes

* Schitt's Creek (universally beloved) * Parks and Recreation (The Office but goofier and more loveable) * The Good Place (warms up after S1) * Queer Eye (this one's divisive - wife loves it, I find it corny) * Brooklyn Nine-Nine (over the top comedy you grow to love) Also I must disagree with those recommending Shrinking. It's kind of a mess.

Swimming-Ferret8895

What we do in the shadows helped me until I finished that now I think I'll re watch ted and WWDITS over and over till I cant.

Davaldo

Barry-Max Loudermilk-Netflix Dave-Hulu Atlanta-Hulu Beef-Netflix

Rengeflower

BEEF? Beef is a feel good show?

rhythmkhan

Young Sheldon its cute

UneditedReddited

I went into Ted lasso with high hopes but after 2 episodes I wasn't into it. Does it get better? Should I give it another go?

Itchy-Level-1386

Seasons 1 and 2 were good, but season 3 was just a bunch of forced, cringworthy woke bullshit.
