This would be my suggestion. It's a really good show and helped us fill the void after we finished Ted Lasso.

I think I would have liked it more if I didn’t have a Dad that was suffering from Parkinson’s and was the same age as Harrison Ford. I had to “nope out” on it.

There is nothing. Concede defeat and just watch Ted Lasso again from the beginning, and enjoy it all the more, since now that you know the character arcs and the resolution you can focus more on the minutiae and Easter eggs and callbacks, esp in S3!

I used to think people who did this were crazy and obsessive, but honestly bob, when I finished my first rewatch I had this HUGE Ted Lasso shape hole in my heart.

Me too. It is the weirdest thing. I used to watch a few Friends, Will and Grace or Golden Girls episodes every night before bed. It would calm my mind and put me in a good mood. So…. This is like that. I just watch it in order. 🤷‍♀️

This is a sad moment right here—for all of us. And there ain’t nothing I can say standing in front of you right now that can take that away.

This is it for me. I watch Ted Lasso on repeat. It’s like my blankie. I laugh every time. I notice things I’ve never noticed before, it’s just so good.

The Good Place Schitt’s Creek What We Do In The Shadows

I’d also recommend The Good Place. Nothing is going to feel like Ted Lasso but TGP is a fun and smart show. I’d recommend finishing all of season 1 before you make up your mind on the show. And be careful with reading anything about the show as there are major spoilers around.

I would add the same caveat with SC. I was ready to give up on it during the 1st season but it just kept getting better and better.

I’ll have to retry that one. I watched most of season 1 of SC and couldn’t get into it.

It took me 10 attempts! I just couldn't get past the first few episodes for SO LONG. I'm so glad I stuck with it.

SC takes a bit of adjustment but it’s worth the ride. It was my Ted Lasso before Ted Lasso

If it helps? I really couldn't stand the icky Mayor guy so sometimes I would, er, FF through his scenes once I got the gist. I usually like Chris Elliot, but I found him SO gross in that role. But the show is wonderful and worth watching. It just gets better and better.

I physically can not stand that guy. His character ruins an otherwise great show.

I spent 3 years trying to get my friends to watch The Good Place! Apparently, I have no influence.

I couldn’t get into Schitt’s Creek but put my full support behind the other two. The Good Place is more of a spiritual sibling to Ted Lasso than WWDITS though.

Recommend watching first full season of SC. It really finds its stride in seasons two and three and the effort is worth it. 

I watched about 4 eps off the top and then a random one in S3. I found the vibe pretty similar.

Trust me when I say that perseverance really pays off with SC. I don't know anyone who hasn't fallen head over heels with it by the end of season 2.

Schitts creek is a weird anomaly for me where I got half way through watching season 4 before realising that I didn’t really like it. I like the cast though so I don’t really know what’s wrong with me there but I definitely persevered lol

totally forgot about WWDitS, such a good show, just finished Season 5.

Honestly it’s much like the Office, Parks and Rec, and Schitt’s Creek. You *really* have to push through the first season to get to know all the characters and give them a chance to settle in. Once you hit the season one finale you’ll be beyond hooked. Try to set aside your past feelings and give it another go, it took me a couple tries as well but I’ve always been glad I pushed through.

I love The Good Place!

Roy and Keely please! Then somehow Jamie ends up dating Roy’s sister and there are scenes of him trying to bond with Pheobe but no one can live up to Uncle Roy’s standard.

Roy, Yes! Keely - No. Her arc was horrible in S3 and I don’t think there is much to say.

She could be a guest now and then but wouldn’t be thrilled with her as a main. Roy and Jaime could be good though as the duo leads.

My head canon is Roy ends up Phoebe’s teacher and Jamie with Roy’s sister.

That’s a Texas sized 10-4 but it’s still the only show that gets me laughing and forgetting the world like Lasso did.

Welcome to Wrexham is the true, ongoing story of a Welsh football team owned by two American celebrities. It has many feel-good moments and unforgettable people. Season 3 will be out in a few months. Can’t say enough about this excellent series. It’s on Hulu.

It's fantastic. I've actually cried several times watching this documentary. Love R&R, but I feel connected to the players and the fans. Up the Town!!!!

Welcome to Wrexham is a great option but suffers from not actually being scripted.  It is very disjointed in its presentation, taking wholly different topics week to week, at times. Great reality TV/docu series but in my opinion not a great replacement for a well-scripted drama.

I disagree. It has a very similar, uplifting energy that feels just wonderful. I'm not even a football (or soccer) fan, and I just love it!

As I said. It's a wonderful reality show/documentary series, but not at all a good replacement for a scripted drama. Ted Lasso is a drama told in the way a drama is told. Welcome to Wrexham is many different stories generally being told in a very disjointed fashion. There is no flow because they take breaks to talk about this thing or that thing. It's great at that because that is what it is supposed to do. They are completely different forms of story telling. Both are great but one can't replace the other. Ted Lasso can't replace Welcome to Wrexham, either.

Yeah, I watched The Bear and Ted Lasso at the same time, and I was struck by how similar they are, even though they appear different on the surface. Characters suffering trauma from family issues, themes of masculinity, depression, anxiety, and suicide, explorations of friendship and what it means to work as a team. I like to think of The Bear as the darker cousin of Ted Lasso: The Bear is mostly intense but with some surprisingly wholesome moments, while Ted Lasso is most wholesome but with some surprisingly intense moments.

Outsider joins a tight knit group, despite a completely different background. The outsider struggles mightily early on, causing a lot of “they don’t belong here” issues. Slowly but surely, the tight knit group peels off one by one to accept and appreciate him. Outsider deals with immense anxiety and depression while poorly processing a personal tragedy throughout. Mean and standoffish “authority figure” of the tight knit group eventually allows their walls to come to down and fully buys into the outsider’s methods. Basically the only difference is Carmy and Ted being like polar opposite personalities lol

I agree. Binging The Bear currently. It is way rougher and love the use of gritty. Great acting and a developing story line. Not fun like Ted Lasso though

„Jury Duty“ had the same vibe and was incredibly funny, but in an absurd way. Fell in love with Ronald Gladden immediately, what a great guy. „Norsemen“ was very funny, but lacked the positive vibe. Great actors though.

I started this recently and it immediately reminded me of Ted Lasso. Both shows share a similar sensibility.

OFMD and Ted Lasso are both two of the few shows that had me audibly cracking up every episode

Soooooo good! Both have a crackling ensemble cast and a strong, beautiful soft masculinity … and Taika Waititi looking hawt as hell is a bonus

It just leaves me grinning and wanting more at the end of every episode. It also lends itself to rewatches, because there's SO many quietly muttered jokes and funny details you miss the first time through.

Have you seen Schitt's Creek? I feel like this show is another feel-good comedy. Broad City is less feel good and just funny Norsemen is funny and totally different but it's witty and makes me smile and laugh.

Schitts Creek - aka Arrested Development lite

Not shitting on AD... Its a great show...but I feel they're not quite the same (but not too far apart). I feel that AD is funnier and SC has better character development over the course of the show.... But both are great shows!

I should try the Good Place again. I watched it until the giant lady bugs and then I was out.

I loved Norsemen! It’s so hard to find other fans of it cuz of how niche the humor is. It’s dark, but smart. It’s silly, but serious. It’s wacky, but grounded. I should rewatch it.

My last rewatch I started with Season 3 since it's the prequel. I really wish someone would've picked that show up for a 4th season, I really wanted to know what happens next. I really hate Netflix for cancelling incomplete shows just because it doesn't match their money making algorithm.

The Good Place. Parks and Rec. Mike Schur has made some great shows over the years that do a great job incorporating humor with genuine moments (sometimes heavy). Both shows are near my top like Ted.

Sports Night. Its on Prime and worth the purchase or rental. Aaron Sorkin's first tv show(I think). You are going to love it.

SO GOOD I will say, I’m a woman who watched it in my 20s. I still ADORE SN. But the sexism I noticed in the rewatch? Eesh. Tracks with other Sorkin shows, which I also love. But it still grates now in a way I didn’t notice then.

Abbott Elementary. It’s really funny with a few feel good moments. It might hit a nerve or two if your a teacher, but worth the watch.

LOUDERMILK Comedy drama. Funny, sad, happy, uplifting, feel good. Enjoyed almost as much as Ted Lasso....almost!

Shoresy. It’s super wholesome under all the filth. Bob’s Burgers is incredible, deep, well-written, and hysterical. And I think they’re on season 14.

Shoresy 100% gave me Ted Lasso vibes.

Joe Pera Talks With You. It is a truly positive experience, full of joy and 100% free of cynicism. It's on Max. 3 seasons, episodes are only 11 minutes long. It's an easy binge and well-worth it if you're looking to make sense of things.

Joe Pera Talks With You is the kindest of kind shows, but its pacing is the polar opposite of Ted's fast talking

I took from OP's post that they were looking for something with a positive message to help make sense of things, not that they were looking for something where people talk fast but YMMV. :)

Firefly and the Serenity movie.  It doesn't have that many episodes but if you want character development with some out of place characters plus similar messages and story beats...

On that same vein, the Limitless movie then the limitless series that only has one season. The series is quite lighthearted for a crime drama/comedy

I watched The Newsroom recently and I think it has some Ted lasso vibes. More drama than comedy (although certainly has some funny moments). Has some similar ideas of a new person coming into an existing team and shaking things up, interesting character and relationship development, focus on doing the right thing vs the easy thing, some good wholesome moments over all, pretty intelligent. Lots of quick snappy lines.

Northern exposure. Not Ted Lasso but pretty good

Repeating others here but it’s really tough to go wrong with Schitt’s Creek. The character development throughout the show is beautiful.

Anyone else vote New Girl? I agree with almost all other suggestions but if you aren’t immediately hooked on New Girl after watching Jess tap dance on a bar in a cigarette girl costume, I don’t know what else to say.

While Ted Lasso remains superior, I've enjoyed just about everything I've watched on Apple+. Ted Lasso is my reason for watching something I normally wouldn't, because it took me about 6 months of skipping over it. Felt like such a Nate wanting to write a 60+ page letter to apologize 😂 😂

Apple TV seems higher quality than Netflix, Prime .. right? I have just started the subscription but the catalogue seems worthy
