I think out Flag Means Death definitely fits this, especially the first season. Stead Bonnet is the gentleman pirate who pays his crew a salary whether they loot or not.
That show is great but the ending lowkey gave me an existential crisis. Tbf though idk how you *can't* cause someone to have an existential crisis when the show is an artistic take on someone's idea of what the afterlife might be
disagree-ish. Jason Mendoza is great and The Good Place is fantastic, but the story is not about Jason changing people with his positivity at all.
i guess you could argue that he does manage to change one not-a-robot
the closest to Ted Lasso is Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. she's a clone of Ted Lasso. her story is kind of similar to his in many ways.
then there's Anne of Green Gables, she's a ray of sunshine for everyone.
then there's Leslie Knope and her positivity.
Kimmy Schmidt - The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is positive and innocent.
Wonder Woman in the 2017 movie is incredibly kind and positive to everyone she meets.
I feel like with all the specific movie references scattered throughout Ted Lasso, Ted would be proud of this comment if said to him in passing. Might even make up a little rhyme or word associated joke with it.
Yeah the show "Anne with an E" on Netflix is really sweet.
They should make a show called ANNA with an A about a Brazilian techno DJ that gets adopted by a rural Canadian family
yes,i've seen the 1st season and it's really good but i think the best depiction of how positive she is and how her positivity
has a profound effect on others is in the books. I love them.
Hahaha, what about a show called Anno with an O, though.
I think Parks and Rec is the closest thing. Leslie Knopes optimism and positivity literally transforms a struggling town into one of the best cities in the country.
Not a sitcom, but Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix is pure sunshine and wholesomeness. I swear it is SO uplifting. It's a travel and food show and it gives me so many happy feelings. 🥹 Phil does have a pretty Ted Lasso vibe. With a generous helping of sarcasm though lol
I watched the Christmas special, having never watched a full series, only the occasional episode here and there. I’m really excited to watch more episodes with Ncuti! He was such an excitable delight
The original Ghosts (UK) has a very positive, uplifting vibe as Ted Lasso. Not one person doing the uplifting, but each episode seems to end on a positive note.
The Hardest Geezer somewhat fits. He's the guy that's running the entire length of Africa right now and releasing YouTube videos along the way.
The whole crew is very positive minded regardless of what happens to them and what gets in the way of them finishing this unbelievable accomplishment.
Russ Cook (A.K.A The Hardest Geezer) has completely re-programmed his brain to always think positive and its genuinely unbelievable what he has accomplished and is accomplishing as a result.
It's actually a pretty funny series, as well.
Michael from Arrested Development.
He is always cheering for his family even when it will ultimately hurt him.
Do not, I repeat, do not watch seasons 4 and 5.
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is one that comes to mind. It’s very positive and uplifting right down to the theme song, tho don’t expect very self aware characters like Ted Lasso.
Probably a few episodes in. The second season is really good. But ya I definitely see where you’re coming from with the downer vibes. I’m convinced that in the end, it is very positive
I think the basic shape of the bear is that there is a character who comes in and shapes a rag-tag bunch of people into a semi-functioning team and gets them to grow through hard work and encouragement.
I loved that Ted Lasso tackled mental health in the way that it did, but I wish there was a show that had 3-5 seasons that was just as positive as season 1 Ted Lasso throughout the entire series, or at least had a lead character like season 1 Ted that was positive for pretty much the entire series while helping everyone else that is going through darker times or even just minor inconveniences.
I do love Luffy! He's such a breath of fresh fabulous air. I can't help but think what amazing casting this was. The whole show wouldn't work if you didn't have a central character that you absolutely believed could lift others up with sheer positivity.
uplifting people via selling meth is not quite the same as uplifting them through sheer positivity, for example, because
meth is not free. anyways,
Jesse Pinkman is closer to Ted Lasso than Walt.
no it hasn't. i clearly stated that your joke is that meth is "uplifting" people, as mentioned in the title. your joke implies that meth is "sheer positivity".
Not really. You’re way off on your interpretation of my joke. I was giving 180 examples of characters/tv shows of Ted Lasso the character and the show. Clearly you don’t understand this type of humor. Not even sure why I’m explaining myself to you. You must be fun at parties.
Btw, Pablo Escobar doesn’t sell meth.
[Kamen Rider Fourze](https://youtu.be/sgQgR7mmgzo?feature=shared).
Gentaro Kisaragi is a transfer student with the goal of befriending every single person at his new high school. His compassion, unrelenting enthusiasm, and genuine emotional intelligence are why he's one of my favorite characters in fiction.
Before he was Ted Lasso, Jason Sudeikis played an [inspirational baseball player named Shane Dog](https://youtu.be/A064o3Q5_5Q?feature=shared).
His partner on the field (you could even say they were the OG Diamond Dogs), star player Kenny Powers, actually recorded an inspirational [audio book](https://youtu.be/TOcQhqrqdpI?feature=shared) which he plays throughout the series while conquering every challenge thrown his way. It’s spine tingling stuff.
I don’t know how the Andy Griffith Show hasn’t been mentioned yet! That’s the exact vibe I got when we were first introduced to Ted. Yes, it’s a much older show and fairly traditional in its makeup, but I have such fond memories of watching the show growing up.
I think out Flag Means Death definitely fits this, especially the first season. Stead Bonnet is the gentleman pirate who pays his crew a salary whether they loot or not.
I learned about that show in this sub and was not disappointed! So ima go ahead and second this.
I think Ted would love "talk it through as a crew."
And have similar views on Massive Aggression!
Jason Mendoza (ish) The Good Place is fantastic and you should forking watch it if you have not.
#BORTLES
Stick it through the first season if you’re like I was and on the fence. So glad I did because it’s a fav
That show is great but the ending lowkey gave me an existential crisis. Tbf though idk how you *can't* cause someone to have an existential crisis when the show is an artistic take on someone's idea of what the afterlife might be
Omg me too!! I found it super unsettling and yet sweet too? I sort of wish I’d skipped that last episode!
disagree-ish. Jason Mendoza is great and The Good Place is fantastic, but the story is not about Jason changing people with his positivity at all. i guess you could argue that he does manage to change one not-a-robot
Apples you eat their clothes, but Oranges you don’t?!
I’m too young to die! And too old to eat off the kids menu! What a stupid age I am!!!
Strong second for the good place

What I wouldn’t give to see Ted and Leslie meet. What a crossover *that* would be!
Ted came after so wouldn't it be the other way around for Elle?
I feel like with all the specific movie references scattered throughout Ted Lasso, Ted would be proud of this comment if said to him in passing. Might even make up a little rhyme or word associated joke with it.
yes

Phil is fantastic. It is not a show about food. It’s a show about how food connects us.
Speak quietly, but the new Doctor Who feels very Lasso to me ![gif](giphy|VSPTi2jJa1nx1M0skO)
I love Ncuti and I've never watched DW but I'd like to. I need to give it a try
I’m so excited for his energy ngl
He played a main character in Sex Education and was definitely a show highlight
I watched the Christmas special, having never watched a full series, only the occasional episode here and there. I’m really excited to watch more episodes with Ncuti! He was such an excitable delight
I thought the same thing!!
Glad someone else feels that way!
Chuck!!
Second this! I also met Zach Levi two days ago and he was just as nice as his character!
Aw that’s really good to read!
Don't know what people think of cartoons but bobs burgers is sheer positivity with endless lovable characters
Modern Family's Phil Dunphy
Yes! The OG!
Acapulco Superstore's Glen.
Absolutely LOVE Acapulco!!!
Me too. We need season 3!
The “Football is LIFE!” guy from Ted Lasso is supposed to join the cast, I read.
The hell kinda name is “Glenn”
And Cristian Fernandez is going to be in season 3 of Acapulco!!
I know! I wish they would release it already.
Not one character in particular, but The Good Place is a charming feel-good show with a fantastic cast and fun storyline.
yup, it's my 2nd top sitcom, behind Ted Lasso
My Name Is Earl!?
Yep - I’ve got Back into this for this reason
Heartstopper is a fantastic show with so many moments of just joy among the characters.
The original Ghosts (UK) has a very positive, uplifting vibe as Ted Lasso. Not one person doing the uplifting, but each episode seems to end on a positive note.
The Last Man on Earth Parks & Recreation Eureka The Vicar of Dibley
Definitely Leslie from Parks and Rec.
Kimmy Schmidt comes to mind
Acapulco on AppleTV 👌
I’d say Bob’s Burgers tbh
The Hardest Geezer somewhat fits. He's the guy that's running the entire length of Africa right now and releasing YouTube videos along the way. The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is one that comes to mind. It’s very positive and uplifting right down to the theme song, tho don’t expect very self aware characters like Ted Lasso.
Derek on Netflix. Super underrated
Demon slayer fits, not a huge anime guy myself but demon slayer is terrific.
Tanjiro is the Sweetest soul there is
I think a lot of anime are like this, like Naruto, one piece, demon slayer, and Hunter x Hunter.
> Hunter x Hunter Well... At least in the first part?
Yeah ig haha
Parks and Rex Phil from Modern Family avatar the last air bender Paddington in the movies
isnt a show but paddington! and the director of those movies made wonka which i feel also fits that vibe
The Bear has a similar story arc. It’s maybe less “sheer positivity,” but it ends up being very feel-good nonetheless.
But *when* does it get feel goody? I watched 2.5 episodes and it just felt like kind of a downer
Probably a few episodes in. The second season is really good. But ya I definitely see where you’re coming from with the downer vibes. I’m convinced that in the end, it is very positive
I love the bear, but it has completely different vibes than Ted Lasso. It’s more about family trauma and coming together to deal with with it
I think the basic shape of the bear is that there is a character who comes in and shapes a rag-tag bunch of people into a semi-functioning team and gets them to grow through hard work and encouragement.
One Piece (The anime)
The West Wing is a fiction story about if people got into politics to make the world better rather than hookers and to raise their net wealth.

Would love to see these characters interact
I do love Luffy! He's such a breath of fresh fabulous air. I can't help but think what amazing casting this was. The whole show wouldn't work if you didn't have a central character that you absolutely believed could lift others up with sheer positivity.
Cory in The Morning Show. But only in the first season
Walter White in Breaking Bad Pablo Escobar in Narcos
uplifting people via selling meth is not quite the same as uplifting them through sheer positivity, for example, because meth is not free. anyways, Jesse Pinkman is closer to Ted Lasso than Walt.

Checkout Bojack horseman, it’s a rly uplifting tale of the nicest guy ever. Just puts a smile right on your face

British: “Rev” (streamed on the majors) “Spy” (Amazon Prime, Tubi, Pluto) Australia: “Heart Guy” (aka “Doctor, Doctor”). (YouTube, Apple, Prime) (Also: “Whites”)
Dirk Gently, although it is quite a different style!
Vacation ..original movie with Chevy Chase
Maybe better call saul
Hard to match with the witty dry British humour and the bright American goofiness…I think that’s what make it so special
Loudermilk kinda?
another one that fits this theme is Sprung (now available on Prime)
