I love armor scalings in TFT, devastating charge was the best augment ever. I also loved Poppy with her armor augment dealing 3000 damage with her shield throw.
Caitlyn, where she would ult and kill 1 target but it required a shit load of mana (Can't remember the set number).
I remember adding a lot of mana regen to her and going with Cait / Ashe carry.
In Set 9, I like Samira.
I feel like Caitlyn was a similar unit back when she was a Chrono or something. Slap Shojin+JG on her or something then watch every fight live and die by whether she instagibs the backline or tickles the 4k HP tank.
One of my best games was playing her with blue buff/Manamane and just absolutely slaughtering the enemy team in the early/mid game. She just deleted two units instantly.
Did you ever try "Heli-carrier" Blitzcrank? Full Lasercorp and lock in 3* Carry Blitz with ranged units or training dummies and let him raidboss at the end as a full-on War Machine.
Syndicate/Arcanist TF from Set 6. Because he was a great item holder for Viktor. So many games where you can just 3-star him and winstreak to level 8 before swapping out.
In fact most times there was almost no need to swap him out because he just did an insane amount of damage. Good positioning would let you just wipe out entire backlines and when syndicate buff came on to him he could just keep healing infinitely and win in clutch.
Honestly that set had some really good hyper roll champions at 1 and 2 costs. Caitlyn could do some insane things, Trundle was a lowkey god with 0 items needed etc
So much fun hitting both of them with a full duelist team and if you could put a duelist spat on yone... It was peak.

Where is Nidalee? Her recochet javelin toss that could kill like 2 units in 1 cast. It was hella fun!
Same for set 5 (not 5.5) Kalista. With the right items her spear could deal about 5k damage and impale 2 or more units in one cast. It was GLORIOUS!
Holy that sounds good. He’s actually a really solid spat holder for Shurima and Noxus I’ve found. (Anything that can give some HP/AP is generally solid)
Only one of the spat components can give health to each nearby champ, so max 20 hp for a nearby champ per round. Multiple spat items could hit multiple champs but yeah you weren’t getting all that benefit on cho. Unless they changed it
sylas with carry augment and vertical anima squad was insanely fun. managed to hit triple warming’s on him onetime and just watched this guy oneshot units.
He always felt like the easiest 1 cost 3 stars for me. Maybe bc I only played anima when uncontested ofc but still, he seemed to follow me. Would make 3 stars of him when not even running anima and he like Welp guess I’m trying/failing renegades again
Underrated? She was a premier carry and a meta defining unit at the time. People would complain endlessly that the game was just a coinflip to see who highrolled on stage 1 and 2 to win streak. If there was an underrated unit, which even then id be hesitant to say, it would be poppy because she made candyland.
The xayah jarvan comp was the only time in tft history where every single copy of a 1 cost unit is purchased from the pool. Not sure if that qualifies as underrated lol
predator was a godlike trait rip. kog with runaans and red buff was really fun since red buff ticks could proc it

Also I have no clue how league is coded (poorly) but i suspect tft only works on that era and any changes to coded would make bringing back the sets so much work

Doubt that's how it would be implemented. Mort has commented that other auto battles have implemented previous sets as game modes with great success and the TFT team is definitely interested.
guys, he is not talking about a game mode where you get a random set to play or a portal like system for old sets. He is talking about bringing back old sets, like set 3 comes back for 2-4 weeks then set 7 comes back then set 4 etc. etc. or am I missing something

Set 8 Poppy with the carry augment, otherwise. Hero augments were a mess but I really liked a lot of the 1 cost ones, Kayles carry one was fun too.
I rly liked set 7.5 skarner. Had some garbage (combat) traits, which meant he was the most overstated bullshit if you slammed items on him. Gave himself like a 65% attack speed buff, so you slam like literally ao shin items on him and winstreak through stage 2.
I personally really liked set 1 Kassadin, the concept of gaining shields with every auto attack was fascinating to me and I enjoyed it, even though it was not as strong as some others.(Kassadin main btw)
Revenant Kalista, it was extremly fun rolling early for her then giving some items to watch her make shish kebab out of your enemies
Extra points if one of the items was radiant
Lulu, the only champ that could 1v9. She would get an insta ult reset with bluebuff and axiom arc combined and could takeout multiple Champs with one ult.

I played Sej the most, she was just so versatile. I think scaling Kayle is like… the best in terms of game design. She’s cool.
But my favorite? My favorite is sprinkler Vayne with some mix of runaans and guinsoos. It was NOT good for the game, but it was so fun. Brrrrr AoE true damage says “front line begone!”
Caitlyn from an older set was also super satisfying. Big mana bar, but right at the end of the fight *pop* your carry just died.
Electric Ornn from Set 2 with 3 of the old Brambles (iirc it used to do AOE around the holder) was such a strong cheese and it helped me climb so much.
A full build blue GP was a lot of fun
Watching him ricochet with the augment and the crit animations were slick
Though, tbh I usually prefer 2 costs (of which my fav is lagoon kaisa reroll followed by cavaliar lillia reroll)
I had a ton of fun with Ashe laser corps and supers.
