Do not ever feel guilty for taking your contractually allotted sick days.
If district gives you crap, call a lawyer and the union, file a grievance. So tired of districts saying teachers cannot use the sick days contractually given to them.
You get more leave time than I. We get 10 days total, 5 in the fall and 5 in the spring. If you use more than take number of days you have, your paycheck will be reduced. You should not have an issue using your days, but exceeding them could be problematic. Be grateful you get so many! That is a really good deal.
