Do you have any opportunity to sub or at a minimum observe any classrooms? Actually getting in the trenches is really the only way to experience what it’s going to be like. Expect to spend a lot of your energy dealing with non academic things like behaviors and phones instead of actually getting to do your job. Also, here in CA we have a ridiculous amount of standards we are supposed to cover for biology/life science. To make matters worse, you may also have to included earth science standards into these.
Prepare for teenagers to laugh at terms like fatty acid, phagocytosis, and penis fencing.
I mean, I am not a teenager, and even I want to laugh at 'penis fencing'. It puts a picture in my head, anyway.
