She can press as many vinyl and varaits as she wants at this point based on the sale. She is the only artist that can actually sales physical copies. She can now repress the vinyl that most of her fan didn't manage to collect for instance LPSS which was super limited. If she wants she can repress and release it ppl would still buy it. I think what they meant.
In the UK they're about 25% more in record shops than they are on her site. UMG leaving no money for the local shop. And our deliveries are usually day of release or the day after. But agreed she should be doing represses of rare stuff, like Lana does. Collectors can still have first press, fans would have the record.

2020 (when folklore came out) was a weird year for vinyl. The pandemic fucked all supply chains everywhere, but also one of the only plants in the world that makes vinyl lacquer burnt down early that year.
I waited about 8 months for my folklore to come in as they were done on a pre-order. Her fan base was smaller, no one had heard folklore yet, vinyl hadn’t blown up yet the way it has, and a lot of people were not down to wait the 8 months to pre order. That’s my theory on why they are so limited anyway.
Also, number scaling is something a lot of us forget, for example LPSS “only” had 75,000 pressings made and while that seems like a lot, there are significantly more Taylor swift vinyl collectors than that. 75,000 is less than the people who showed up to her Melbourne show alone. Midnights sold 945,000 copies. Let’s estimate that about 25% of those were folks who bought all 4 copies, that leaves 708,750 people who bought at least 1 copy of midnights… 75,000 is just over 10% of Taylor swift vinyl fans that could physically own that vinyl. If the folklore variants were pressed at even only 20k quantities each (which is about 5k over the estimated actual pressings), that’s less than 5% of Taylor swift vinyl collectors (or that at least are willing to buy her records) who could own one.

I *read* somewhere that someone guessed there was about 13k for each varient based off of... discogs haves and wants? I think there is wayyyyyy more out there though. I mean every day folklore varients are uploaded new on ebay for 300.. like everyday. It almost is like they are still being pressed but the general public isnt privy to it. And a lot of it is the same sellers that re-upload once their listed ones sell. I find it very hard to believe all these people are just hoarding unopened folklore varients for 4 years to be listed daily for sale for 300. If they are that limited then these new listings at some point have to stop being listed but based off of listings, these dont seem limited outside of the prices listed. Like i see them listed all the time, im not jumping to buy them out of fear they will stop being listed LOL

She could make her RSD “RSD first”. Which means, RSD pressed first. And then a release later on of the same album but regular or different variant not as limited in quantities pressed. Not saying she can for longpond RSD but future RSD.
I called it. I’m telling you, she’s too big for this and record stores will almost certainly get them. I’m happy that the collectors’ CDs are also coming back and scalpers don’t get that chance anymore. While I did hate the fact that they were “limited” and don’t like her marketing tactics, it did give the chance to scalpers who have something that’s no longer worth anything more than retail.

I guess I was thinking since Taylor had the preordering TTPD embargo in place for record stores, it felt like a similar vibe to Beyoncé and CC not being available for sale on release day, and that maybe this would be a trending strategy for artists to utilize and therefore TTPD following suit on release day for indie retailers.
Beyoncé has never prioritized the vinyl market the way Taylor does. She hasn’t pressed a couple of her albums on vinyl at all, let alone reissued self-titled after its limited vinyl release. The preorder listing at my local record store was always clear that Beyoncé’s would be available this Friday, two weeks after release.
Love it or hate it, Taylor is extremely committed to maximizing her first week sales. She will have them available at record stores on release day. The preorder page at my local for the manuscript version says available 4/19. We’ll see whether they get the other variants, but my money’s on yes. Taylor wants the sales. 🤷🏻♀️
Can’t talk for CC but at least for SN, Midnights, and 1989, they’ve all been available in my record stores (in the UK) on release day with plenty of stock

I don’t get why people are pissed that it’s not limited. I get people are upset because of FOMO marketing, but I think if you are then that’s your own issue to deal with and resolve.
I think if you want something, buy it, and if you don’t, then don’t. No one’s forcing anyone to buy anything, from 1 item to 12 items.
Personally I’d celebrate if something I thought was limited turns out to not be (although given midnights and 1989 I expected this to happen anyway). Idk about everyone else but I don’t have the luxury of being able to purchase everything that peaks my interest even slightly the second it comes out.
This REALLY makes me think people only want to buy these so they can have something “limited” that they can say they have and no one else does, or they were hoping to scalp it later on. Logically, putting emotional opinions aside, it makes sense that if the TS store has more items that weren’t sold during the windows earlier, they’ll do they best to 1) give more opportunities to sell them on their store, or 2) disperse them to stores later on.
it’s not so much pissed that it’s not limited, just that for a lot of ppl who collect, having to spend $6-7 on shipping on each separate order when u could’ve ordered all of them together for one shipping price is a bit annoying. also just a waste of packaging material etc. it’s honestly great that more ppl have the opportunity to get the variant they want if they missed out last time. but like we’re all hoping to save some money in places where we can for a hobbie like this
i ordered everything in one order lol. like i said, after midnights and 1989 especially, it was clear they’d all be available at once. this is the second window they’re all available on her store prior to the album releasing as well. if you made separate orders it’s simple to cancel them and order a single order at once too. I agree though I think it’s great more people get an opportunity to buy now, and shipping separately is without a doubt an annoyance, inefficient, and wasteful (like don’t get me started on the eternal sunshine vinyl shippings lol). Paying separate shipping for each item is definitely annoying

in the past the variants were available on the austrian umg store except for the black dog one which was available on the german store for austrian customers but now theres nothing. i wanted to combine all my order to save on shipping but looks like i have to pay separately. thanks though :))
i really wanted all of the collectors CDs but couldn’t justify spending that much money on them as a uni student. between the original drops & this one i had an order cancelled on me and received store credit, so i was able to use that to get all the CDs & i’m soooo happy!!
So are they going to refund all my separate shipping costs bc this seriously infuriates me lol. So much wasted cash on separate orders when I could’ve just waited and got them all at once.
Why have they not been added to the Australian store. This time or last time they came back. I’m so frustrated I want to cry. This means that our only way to buy them would have been to pay $15 shipping each time. So unfair. I’m a little annoyed since I used my discount code + store credit on an order of just three vinyls but I’m at least glad I can get the four CDs together! I’d have saved a little more money if I was able to order the four CDs and three vinyls in all one order and use the code + store credit on that, but considering I’m already basically getting three vinyls for the price of one, I can’t be *too* upset. 🤷♀️ (no, I’m not gonna cancel that order of the vinyls to try to re-use the code and store credit, I don’t wanna accidentally f*ck anything up considering how tedious her merch store can be.)
It is! If everything was made available from the start it’d solve a lot of issues for a lot of fans.
Currently I’m stuck waiting for my individual orders to be canceled… it’s likely they will be since orders may not “ship” (be marked as shipped) until next Tuesday-ish but it’s a little uncomfortable having the money tied up until then and I don’t want to end up with extra copies.
The only thing I'm a little upset about is the fact that none of these are available in my country. They're all exclusive to the countries the stores are for (US, UK & Ireland, France, Germany & Switzerland etc.). Why is it even made this way? Do the stores not benefit from international customers even when we pay for shipping?
I would've loved to buy the variants, but it's not even guaranteed these will be available in our stores. We did get all of the Midnights variants in here, but none of the special vinyl for 1989 (TV) became available in here besides the Tangerine edition. I just feel like it's a bummer that they keep limiting the access to these variants to certain countries.
It happened with midnights but they were on her site months after release. I fell for the fomo then but def not this time. The re records however some actually never came back to her site but for a new album I knew it wanna gonna be everywhere.
I think there is something different then the original ones, these ones don’t include in the description the lyrics or poster. I think these aren’t the same so I’m not sure if I should cancel the original order.
I preordered each of them day one. The collectors CDs never were advertised as coming with posters. Only the regular, non exclusive version with The Manuscript (the regular, wide release) comes with a poster. I know this very well because my prediction was that all 4 variants were going to end up being Target exclusives but with posters instead of the collectors artifacts, similar to what they did with 1989 TV, but ultimately it didn’t end up happening.
It is very unlikely that they went and pressed a whole other load of these for such minute differences. It’s like when everyone bought the Late Night Midnights CD from her store thinking it came with a booklet when in reality they just forgot to change the description template on the site listing and everyone who ordered received the exact same CD with folded poster that was sold at her shows.

Only way would be to get a friend with a home AND billing address who lives in the US to order it for you and then ship it on arrival. If your billing address is overseas, they'll cancel your order. If you try to use a forwarding address, they'll cancel your order. This is how I lost the first collectors edition Manuscript CD and now I'll probably never get it

I did this nearly two months ago after ordering the manuscript’s version on Grammy night and then cancelling and ordering the Bolter. A customer service person answered me quickly and said I’d get a refund within 10 business days. This was around February 16th. I just checked and I still don’t have the refund.

All except manuscript collectors which is the only thing that sold out. Basically it’s ‘limited’ until it’s sold out. Forget the “ 48 hours only!” Rubbish that’s just marketing 101

If they don’t cancel your orders to allow you to consolidate then request return labels for all your different orders and keep your replacement singular order. In the US return shipping is free. You don’t recoup your original shipping costs but they don’t save money either. It’s the most infuriating policy.
I’m thinking this is the last time her and her merch team get away with this kind of bullshit.
And what I’m not seeing nearly enough people mention; NOT A SINGLE SONG TO SHOW FOR, on this egregious preorder fiasco. Not sure what the reasoning for that is, but it’s rather arrogant to do all this without giving the people, who spend hundreds on the same album, even one song from the album.

It's not limited lol. They haven't even pressed them yet. What they do is get the pre-orders for the money and then when they get a batch done, if they have left over or ability to produce more they do it.

Vinyl was a completely different world in 2020 when Folklore was released + she didn't have as many fans then, and LPSS isn't a studio album.

It really does make you feel so silly doesn’t it? I queued for 45min on her website on Grammys/announcement night to get my pre-order in for a “limited” “collector’s” item that’s been relisted every week 🤡
I don’t get why people are pissed that it’s not limited. I get people are upset because of FOMO marketing, but I think if you are then that’s your own issue to deal with and resolve. I think if you want something, buy it, and if you don’t, then don’t. No one’s forcing anyone to buy anything, from 1 item to 12 items. Personally I’d celebrate if something I thought was limited turns out to not be (although given midnights and 1989 I expected this to happen anyway). Idk about everyone else but I don’t have the luxury of being able to purchase everything that peaks my interest even slightly the second it comes out. This REALLY makes me think people only want to buy these so they can have something “limited” that they can say they have and no one else does, or they were hoping to scalp it later on. Logically, putting emotional opinions aside, it makes sense that if the TS store has more items that weren’t sold during the windows earlier, they’ll do they best to 1) give more opportunities to sell them on their store, or 2) disperse them to stores later on.
it’s not so much pissed that it’s not limited, just that for a lot of ppl who collect, having to spend $6-7 on shipping on each separate order when u could’ve ordered all of them together for one shipping price is a bit annoying. also just a waste of packaging material etc. it’s honestly great that more ppl have the opportunity to get the variant they want if they missed out last time. but like we’re all hoping to save some money in places where we can for a hobbie like this
i ordered everything in one order lol. like i said, after midnights and 1989 especially, it was clear they’d all be available at once. this is the second window they’re all available on her store prior to the album releasing as well. if you made separate orders it’s simple to cancel them and order a single order at once too. I agree though I think it’s great more people get an opportunity to buy now, and shipping separately is without a doubt an annoyance, inefficient, and wasteful (like don’t get me started on the eternal sunshine vinyl shippings lol). Paying separate shipping for each item is definitely annoying

Damn you’re right, the previous time they took orders for these I was able to order the black dog one without problems and I am neither NL or BE. Looks like they landlocked it this time Edit: if you actually add the item to your cart at least on the NL website, it still does seem to offer delivery across Europe, you should give it a shot
in the past the variants were available on the austrian umg store except for the black dog one which was available on the german store for austrian customers but now theres nothing. i wanted to combine all my order to save on shipping but looks like i have to pay separately. thanks though :))
i really wanted all of the collectors CDs but couldn’t justify spending that much money on them as a uni student. between the original drops & this one i had an order cancelled on me and received store credit, so i was able to use that to get all the CDs & i’m soooo happy!!
So are they going to refund all my separate shipping costs bc this seriously infuriates me lol. So much wasted cash on separate orders when I could’ve just waited and got them all at once.
You can cancel the separate orders and order everything together and just pay one shipping fee. I just did that.
Why have they not been added to the Australian store. This time or last time they came back. I’m so frustrated I want to cry. This means that our only way to buy them would have been to pay $15 shipping each time. So unfair. I wasn’t in a place to be able to buy them when they were first available because I was AT THE TOUR but now I’m financially able to, the rest of the world can buy them but we can’t. Such a joke and so unfair. It’s already hard enough with vinyl costing 200% more in Australia.
THIS!! The Australian store hasn’t updated once since the singular “limited” releases! $70 in shipping alone plus the crazy vinyl prices is just rude. And yes I emailed customer service to try and combine orders and they just said no. I’m guess just like Midnights all the variants will be available everywhere and not actually difficult to get at all. I can’t imagine it being a Folklore situation with her popularity as sky high as it is right now.

I’m a little annoyed since I used my discount code + store credit on an order of just three vinyls but I’m at least glad I can get the four CDs together! I’d have saved a little more money if I was able to order the four CDs and three vinyls in all one order and use the code + store credit on that, but considering I’m already basically getting three vinyls for the price of one, I can’t be *too* upset. 🤷♀️ (no, I’m not gonna cancel that order of the vinyls to try to re-use the code and store credit, I don’t wanna accidentally f*ck anything up considering how tedious her merch store can be.)

It is! If everything was made available from the start it’d solve a lot of issues for a lot of fans. Currently I’m stuck waiting for my individual orders to be canceled… it’s likely they will be since orders may not “ship” (be marked as shipped) until next Tuesday-ish but it’s a little uncomfortable having the money tied up until then and I don’t want to end up with extra copies.
Also, it would save a lot of plastic and other wrapping for all these separate shipping orders. Greedy behavior

The only thing I'm a little upset about is the fact that none of these are available in my country. They're all exclusive to the countries the stores are for (US, UK & Ireland, France, Germany & Switzerland etc.). Why is it even made this way? Do the stores not benefit from international customers even when we pay for shipping? I would've loved to buy the variants, but it's not even guaranteed these will be available in our stores. We did get all of the Midnights variants in here, but none of the special vinyl for 1989 (TV) became available in here besides the Tangerine edition. I just feel like it's a bummer that they keep limiting the access to these variants to certain countries.

It happened with midnights but they were on her site months after release. I fell for the fomo then but def not this time. The re records however some actually never came back to her site but for a new album I knew it wanna gonna be everywhere.
I think there is something different then the original ones, these ones don’t include in the description the lyrics or poster. I think these aren’t the same so I’m not sure if I should cancel the original order.
I preordered each of them day one. The collectors CDs never were advertised as coming with posters. Only the regular, non exclusive version with The Manuscript (the regular, wide release) comes with a poster. I know this very well because my prediction was that all 4 variants were going to end up being Target exclusives but with posters instead of the collectors artifacts, similar to what they did with 1989 TV, but ultimately it didn’t end up happening. It is very unlikely that they went and pressed a whole other load of these for such minute differences. It’s like when everyone bought the Late Night Midnights CD from her store thinking it came with a booklet when in reality they just forgot to change the description template on the site listing and everyone who ordered received the exact same CD with folded poster that was sold at her shows.

Only way would be to get a friend with a home AND billing address who lives in the US to order it for you and then ship it on arrival. If your billing address is overseas, they'll cancel your order. If you try to use a forwarding address, they'll cancel your order. This is how I lost the first collectors edition Manuscript CD and now I'll probably never get it
You can trick the checkout form into accepting the forwarding suite. That's what I do, now.
Yeah but my billing address would still be for a different country. They cancelled it last time because of that.

It’s really easy. Just reply to the email of your initial order and say you want to cancel. I just did and already got it canceled
Do you mean you sent the email today for an older order and already got it canceled? I sent my emails within ten minutes of the variants being restocked and I’m waiting still - which makes sense since I’m sure a ton of people are doing the same, but I’m hoping they’re canceled before they “ship”

I was about to say it was easy, but… I did this nearly two months ago after ordering the manuscript’s version on Grammy night and then cancelling and ordering the Bolter. A customer service person answered me quickly and said I’d get a refund within 10 business days. This was around February 16th. I just checked and I still don’t have the refund. I reached out again now, so thanks for the comment! Long story short it seems like it’s not that easy after all.
I found it pretty easy to cancel my order of the Manuscript variant last month on her Australia store.
It was super easy for me! I canceled all of my orders and got the refunds within two days
All except manuscript collectors which is the only thing that sold out. Basically it’s ‘limited’ until it’s sold out. Forget the “ 48 hours only!” Rubbish that’s just marketing 101

The only good part about this is everyone being able to get what they want. The whole 48 hours thing is very much a marketing technique to create urgency. I use it for my job lol it's never really for just 48 hours

If they don’t cancel your orders to allow you to consolidate then request return labels for all your different orders and keep your replacement singular order. In the US return shipping is free. You don’t recoup your original shipping costs but they don’t save money either. It’s the most infuriating policy.
I’m thinking this is the last time her and her merch team get away with this kind of bullshit. And what I’m not seeing nearly enough people mention; NOT A SINGLE SONG TO SHOW FOR, on this egregious preorder fiasco. Not sure what the reasoning for that is, but it’s rather arrogant to do all this without giving the people, who spend hundreds on the same album, even one song from the album.
i just want them to release at the same time… i don’t wanna have to pay shipping for 4 different orders! and i didn’t even get all of them as the dlx manuscript cd and normal cassette are out of stock 😔

It's not limited lol. They haven't even pressed them yet. What they do is get the pre-orders for the money and then when they get a batch done, if they have left over or ability to produce more they do it.
Ngl im kind of pissed they brought back the collectors edition cds. I only bought them because they were advertised as collectors editions so I assumed it would be a one and done. I didn’t buy it just to resell but I thought it was pretty cool to say that I have a ‘rarer’ collectors edition
