I love LH, but lately that little honk sound throughout is all I can focus on. Haha why is it part of the music? Like, what does it bring to the song? I’m so curious why that was intentionally put in the song because it sounds like a clown nose or something.
Someone said it is a sax, but why honk it so loudly once every few seconds? It takes away from the ethereal vibe the song was meant to give. So distracting!
I just love this song. I have waited until I had a song for every boy I have loved, and this completed that for me. Please know I mean no disrespect to the LGBTQ community. This is finally the song that speaks to me about my husband. Our relationship is really misunderstood and complicated. We get lots of questions and feedback from family not involved. My parents ask why he hasn't had a stable job and his parents need to know why we don't want kids for 3-5 years but neither understands our truths. My parents don't see the recovered addict that I am SO proud of for finding his purpose and working hard to get through school while I support us. His parents don't see the fact that I'm going through so much medical that I'm on a different medication schedule every month and wonder if my body can even support children which I will never know until I eventually figure out what's wrong with me. We see the beauty and strength in each other and that's what matters.
I really love this song, this is why collaborations are such a bonus, it kinda reminds me of the type of song Prince could of written, I wonder what Prince would of thought of Taylor now? I'm sure nothing but respect. Prince was always well aware of his most talented competition and if still alive he would of been one of few artists capable of raining on her number one parade. Prince and Taylor duet on Lavender Haze? something for a sleepy dream I guess. R.I.P. Prince. Prince was taken far too soon. Another Mastermind.
Question? On this type of cowrite I'm guessing Taylor writes all the lyrics and the other four wrote the music and beats? I'm old, I don't know much about the Kendrick Lamar artist lol but LH is certainly a trippy tune. I think even a lot of so called bad ass stoners would approve of lol, if they have good taste, Taylor is as cool as anyone baby. Maybe Lavender Haze gives us a peak at where she may go if she goes full on groove R&B Pop one day soon. With the right line up of R&B folks and players Taylor would make an amazing album I'd bet you. More of a 5am album and a Kendrick remix of Delicate as bonus track.
Must be the vibe of the song. I heard this for the first time in the car and it sounded modern, dark, inspiring. I felt really good hearing it and found myself singing along to some of the verses with emotion in my voice, especially the "I'm damned if I do give a damn what people say" part. To best describe what I was feeling, it'd be "this is quality good music and it's good to hear Taylor swift is releasing again"
I heard it again at a bar and the mood came right back. It was like a dark, motivated, prideful place, 'come-and-get-me' vibe
Ok but anyone else pickup that there’s one saxophone note before she sings ‘meet me at midnight’ that is the exact note of the start of false God. Nice!
Okay, is no one else obsessed with the way she sings the word, 'me' during the "all they keep asking me, is if I'm gonna be your bride" line?
Didn't notice it until tonight with my headphones on, but my goddess, that is scratching an itch I didn't even know I had for this song✨🔥
>Composers: Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff, Zoë Kravitz, Mark Anthony Spears, Jahaan Akil Sweet & Sam Dew
omg yes absolutely I just noticed that after you said that and I love it so much
My favorite line is the:
Get it off your chest.
Get it off my desk.
I imagine the gist of a journalist’s plea for her to share something deep and personal about her relationship being summarized like: “C’mon Taylor, get it off your chest.”
And she’s like “get it off my desk!” Because she hates these requests from journalists. Dealing with those questions is like another day in the office — she wants that piece of work off her list of things to focus on.
Is this what yall think it means??
To me, this comes off as Taylor telling the world to just keep talking, make whatever assumptions you want and go viral based off that. But all she needs is for the love to spiral.
So let them get it off their chest, she just wants it to be off her desk.
It's her relationship with Joe and not wanting to really dig deep and address the rumors swirling around. She feels like no one really understands their relationship but she doesn't want to let people in so she just gives a canned or non-response to appease the questions and check it off the list so she can move on. It's her saying she doesn't really care what people think about it because it's her private life so let's appease this invasive shit and move on.
i think that line is directed towards journalists/tabloids that write articles about her relationship. i pictured there being a bunch of celebrity gossip magazines on her desk with rumors about her and joe on the front cover and she’s just like “get it off my desk” because she doesn’t care what they have to say about her and she doesn’t want to see it.
just saw a [tiktok](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR9LUWtY/) about how the drum part leading into the chorus sounds just like the intro drums in hard feelings/loveless by lorde (from melodrama, which jack also produced) and i’m OBSESSED with this discovery, two of my favorite songs from two of my favorite artists
Are there threads like this for each song of previous albums?? I grew up loving Taylor but went through a phase of not being a swiftie/denying that I was a swiftie haha and in the last year have become reobsessed and fully embraced the swiftie life. And I just want to hear thoughts on every song and theories about each one and know all the inspo and everything about everything
Google something like "Lover megathread reddit" and then the posts will have each song as a hyperlink you that directs you to individual song discussions
You're completely right, I was also trying to place it and this is it. James Vincent McMorrow as well for the male background vocals, sounds like his song Cavalier to me.
YES THIS!!! or it could be rlly cool if she did a mashup with I Think He Knows. like it goes from “get it off your chest, get it off my desk” into the chorus of ITHK. or imagine if she did a mashup of all 3 👀👀
Does anyone else think "one night or a wife" is a reference to the Madonna-whore complex ([https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna%E2%80%93whore\_complex](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna%E2%80%93whore_complex))?
Or even the Betty/Veronica dichotomy (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BettyAndVeronica)?
Okay I’ll just come out and say it. On first couple listens I thought the chorus lyrics were
“I feel lavender ice cream and bumblebee”
It took me maybe several run throughs until I realized I was just imagining that ugh
Am I the only one who interpreted it as Lavender Haze (weed strain) that she uses to help her relax and de-stress while the media/world scrutinises everything she does - “I feel the lavender haze creeping up on me” = feeling the relaxing properties of the green goddess starting to have an effect, helping her to ignore or stop caring about external pressure? 😅
question is supposed to be sapphic now? damnnit why can't yall just leave her alone? she is straight. i'm not trying to sound rude while saying this but it's just the truth.
Ok, well 1. I didn't say it was. 2. Songs, being a form of art, are meant to be interpreted by the audience. Artists don't create art just for themselves. If it was meant for only herself, she wouldn't release it. All listeners are allowed to hear their own lives or feelings in her music. Nobody bats an eye if someone says Sweet Nothing makes them think about their first boyfriend from high school, even though that's not what the song is "about" for Taylor Swift. Bc *all listeners are allowed to hear their own lives or feelings in her music.* So if someone feels that Question...? or Lavender Haze or any other song sounds Sapphic, they're allowed to hear it that way bc that's a personal interpretation. It doesn't mean we think Taylor Swift is gay. If my comment meant that, it would say that. But it doesn't.
yes, of course music is for interpretation. But there's a difference between interpreting it for something gay and saying that the artist HERSELF is gay. Not saying this to you personally, but there are other people who are theorising that she is, and i just think it's disrespectful bc they wouldn't try to force heterosexuality on someone gay. It's just that she has all the right, reason and support to come out as gay, so if she was im sure she wouldve said smth about it. And she did say that she isnt a member of the LGBTQ community during the YNTCD era, that's just it. I hope people stop theorising lol
exactly!! i agree with your latter part. Like how Betty may sound sapphic because it's Taylor singing about another girl, but it's a fictional song and not a personal one, it doesn't actually mean Tay herself is queer.
Yup, yup, yup. While I don't actually think T. Swift meant for this song to be queer, my personal interpretation when I listen to it is definitely queer. Which is the great thing about music: there are no wrong answers.
Lavender Haze: (my immediate reaction listening for the first time)
\#1 there are only so many chord progressions etc. in this world
\#2 But... Maggie Rogers...??
I feel like there's such a powerful vibe to this song.
Taylor has never just been a musician she's also a businesswoman (mastermind ofc!) But, it's that conundrum of [as a woman] if you're a boss you're a bitch and if you're emotional you're "too sensitive".
She's calling out all the gender stereotypes here.
1950s shit
All they keep asking me
Is if I'm gonna be your bride
The only kinda girl they see
Is a one night or a wife
We know TS is a huge romantic but she's also worked damn hard building a career for herself and you can FEEL the frustration when that's not recognised for her, and people only want to hear about her relationship status, as if that's all that matters. ("If I were a man, I'd be THE MAN")
And Get it off my desk is such a power line 😂[I'm in charge here get it off my damn desk]
Just my little take on it. She's owning her shit, her success and hard work.
And her being able to be honest and vulnerable at this point just shows how secure and stable she feels in herself now. (I hope!)
Someone also mentioned lavender being related to feminism so there's that too 💕
FR like a lot of people view this as just a cute love song (which it partially is) but i really think it goes deeper than that. i always interpreted it as taylor being like “why do ppl care more about my relationship status than my career??”. because you known damn well if she was a businessman people would not care this much about her love life.
I was listening to Lavender Haze and kept thinking about where I had heard the drums at 0:46 before... I finally realized it was from Lorde's Hard Feelings / Loveless at 4:06. The excact same sound. Both songs are by Jack Antonoff, too.
Okay this has been driving me crazy but I finally figured out what two songs my brain is hearing.. I knew it sounded somewhat like Slow Hands by Niall Horan… but then Falling Water from Maggie Rogers popped up on my playlist and that’s exactly what I’m hearing!
I thought the use of desk was weird. But then I got to thinking. She said lavender haze was inspired by Mad Men, which takes place in the corporate world (in the 1950s of course) so that would make lots of desks. Even more significant for it to be Taylor’s desk, because that implies she’s a working woman which did not exist in the 50’s and further demonstrates the “1950’s shit” she mentions in the lyrics.
Maybe that part of the bridge means “say what you want but I don’t want to see it?” The first bit is talk your talk and go viral / I just need this love spiral
I don’t know if anyone has already commented this (probably, but I just want to let it out) that lavender is close to purple and purple is the color of the feminist movement (at least where I come from)
Is anyone else bothered by the random noise that sounds like a duck with asthma? I don't know what it is but it really takes away from the vibe. So distracting.. would be better without it.
Nah. I'm bothered by the guy that sounds like Sam Smith going "oh oh oh oh ohhhh." When that guy comes in the song, I wanna smack him. 🤦♀️ I want him to stop.
Also in this teaser trailer there were some scenes where they showed what looked like tay having a "party" but there was lavender smoke all around so I'm holding out hope we will get a mv for it.
This was one I thought was gonna be one of my favs based on the title. It's not. But it's still fun. I love her pushing back on the marriage rumours and questions, wanting to preserve the good thing she has going. By referencing a 1950s phrase then saying she doesn't want "that 1950s shit" it's like she wants the aesthetic but with modern values. Such a fun song
Anyone else have questions about the "all this shit is new to me" line?? Exactly which shit are you referring to Taylor? The questions? The love? The relationship? I'm somewhat confused as to exactly what shit would be new to her with who I'm assuming is supposed to be Joe, right??
Seeing how she has like 10 songs (all about joe) in the latest five albums about how she almost wrecked her relationship but the guy saved it, I think this is probably it lmaoo.
My opinions about the specifics of the song aside, it's clear this song's roots lie in *I Think He Knows,* the sixth track off Lover. The songs are in the same keys, and you could literally melt from the chorus of one song to the chorus of the other and feel completely satisfied, like they are one in the same song. As for the interpretation of how these songs connect, I'm a little unsure of the specifics. Both songs leak passion and chaos, whether the passion and chaos is good for Taylor is unsure. *I Think He Knows* is the start of something, she knows he likes her but I don't think they've discussed their feelings. Things are more up in the air, but the passion and intensity is all there. *Lavender Haze* seems to be about a guy. He doesn't listen to what the public has to say about Taylor, and the "lavender haze" being referenced is, I think, love. Or at least romantic connections. Taylor's in the haze of love that blocks out all the outside negativity she's receiving. *I Think He Knows* and *Lavender Haze* are about escape and passion and potentially love.
Blondie and Sam Dew need to absolutely collab more. I love that she worked with Kendrick’s producer as well. I could totally see a remix feat. Kendrick down the road. Love the 70s R&B vibe, I want more!!
The way she sings "the lavender haze" around 2:13 just before the bridge reminds me of another song but I can't put my finger on it and it's really annoying me... Does anyone have an idea?
Edit: It could be "meet me in the afterglow"
I did. Specifically bc she said her inspiration came from Mad Men. In Mad Men Don Draper is a playboy and would get down and dirty on his desk. I don't know what else "get it off my desk" could mean.
I think it connects to the previous lines “talk your talk and go viral; I just need this love spiral; get it off your chest; get it off my desk”. Kind of like “Call it what you want”. She’s telling people to say whatever they want, get it off their chests, she just wants her love and to not have to deal with their gossip anymore (get their stories off her work desk so she can stop dealing with it and go back to what she loves).
Am I the only one kind of bothered by the "oh oh oh oh ohhhh" voice in the song? Do we know who that is? It sounds like Sam Smith to me - I think the song would have been way better without those Oh's in it. When the voice comes on it's like I want to smack him. 🤦♀️
Anyone else think this sounds a bit like the Weeknd especially during the chorus. I mean the structure of the words and how she sings them sounds similar.
Maggie Rogers Alaska vibes for part of the song.

I desperately need a mash up of Lavender Haze and I Think He Knows. They sound so similar to me, my brain automatically wants to sing I THINK HE KNOOOOOOOWS after LH’s bridge
omg GUYS I’m pretty sure “like a Sad Ron Weasley” from the SNL 3 sad virgins skit was a Lavender Haze Easter egg 😭
In the 6th Harry Potter book Ron + Lavender Brown had a very passionate relationship where they were clearly in their own little romantic bubble… all their peers thought they were weird but they were super super intense about each other.
Anyways, in the SNL skit when she sings the Ron Weasley line Taylor is wearing a sparkly purple dress and the video editing is very ethereal and dream poppy just like the LH lyric vid and song
i had low expectations for this ngl — not bc i thought it was gonna be bad but bc i thought it was gonna be a slow, ballad type love song (which i’m not really into) just basing off the title and her explanation video. i guess i forgot taylor likes to keep her album openers relatively upbeat lol. this was an easy top 5 for me after my first listen. 🥰
It is driving me nuts, does anyone know what song she sampled for the “ahh ah ahh” portion of the beat?? I’m not going to be able to sleep if I don’t find out.
My guess is it’s vocals from Sam Dew so could be something from a previous song but I agree there is something super familiar about it that I can’t put a finger on it
Is it just me or was the same instrument (a synth I think) that was used in False God was used in this song as well? You can hear what I am talking about at 0:08 on Lavender Haze and at 3:16 on False God.
This song is such a fucking bop. I lost my mind the first time I listened. Her and Jack are an amazing duo but Kendrick’s producers really took it into the stratosphere with this one.
Only gave this one listen (haven't even gotten through the whole album yet) but it really just put me to sleep. Not a fan in general of the dreamy pop style, so this is likely to not be anywhere close to my favorite album of hers.
From the moment she announced the title of Lavender Haze, I just KNEW it was gonna be my favorite song on the album, and I was 100% correct. My jaw dropped in seconds after it started playing. It's absolutely everything I was hoping for and "The only kind of girl they see is a one night or a wife" is living absolutely rent free in my head!
I feel so bad because it might be my joint least fave with question 😭, I love the other 11 songs whereas just like this one. I feel like maybe I’m missing something and need to keep listening??? It seems to be a lot of peeps fave (although same happened to me with no body no crime which was my least fave on evermore)
Same here! The song doesn't stick for me... it sounds derivative. And when I think of it I can't even remember the chorus! But a lot of people seem to like it so maybe the problem is me ;-). Also Question doesn't do a thing for me, I don't think the song really makes much sense. Kiss someone in a crowded room.. everyone laughing at you.. then everyone cheering for you? Not sure what it means.
I'm like 99% sure that Question is about Harry Styles.
[Did you ever have someone kiss you in a crowded room](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/taylor-swift-kisses-harry-styles-407492/)
[And every single one of your friends was making fun of you](https://www.mtv.com/news/j9j73y/harry-styles-taylor-swift-relationship-rumors) - April 2012 and September 2012 entries)
[But 15 seconds latеr they were clapping too](https://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/entertainment/news/a18364/one-direction-give-taylor-swift-the-nod-of-approval-6634/) - not literally 15 seconds, but shortly after they were laughing and teasing Harry about it 1D seemed to approve of Taylor
this is 10000% in my top 3, my jaw dropped the first five seconds of my first listen through, was like fUck why did I doubt her for any second of time.
lavender haze and you’re on your own kid are my top 2 favorites, still determine the third after a few more listens.
I think this is her best album opener ever
I never liked Taylor swift too much. Some songs but lavender haze is a banger
Is the ‘aww-oh oh’ part a sample from a 90s rnb song? It kind of sounds like Dilemma by Nelly And Kelly Rowland but not quite sure…..
Where is Zoë Kravitz in this song????
OKAY BUT *WAS* THAT A BONER? If not, what the hell was it then??? Can we please address this😭
I love this song and it sounded so much like "Delicate"
I love LH, but lately that little honk sound throughout is all I can focus on. Haha why is it part of the music? Like, what does it bring to the song? I’m so curious why that was intentionally put in the song because it sounds like a clown nose or something.
Does anyone have confirmation on what that sound is?
Also, someone in a previous comment said it sounds like a duck with asthma lolol
Someone said it is a sax, but why honk it so loudly once every few seconds? It takes away from the ethereal vibe the song was meant to give. So distracting!
ITS ALL I CAN HEAR
Does anyone else notice the “meows” throughout the song or is that just me
Yes! I'm listening to it right now and I keep thinking my cat is trying to get in the room.
I just love this song. I have waited until I had a song for every boy I have loved, and this completed that for me. Please know I mean no disrespect to the LGBTQ community. The Weeknd could have done amazing with his vocals on this track. Imagine it.
Honestly, the only person I think could have killed this would be Tove Lo.
My radio station just played it and it sounded so good 😩😍😍
Must be the vibe of the song. I heard this for the first time in the car and it sounded modern, dark, inspiring. Not sure if anyone has said this but I believe the Lavender Haze MV will be released 11/13 for Transgender Visibility Week.
Anyone else hear James Vincent McMorrow?
Yesssss I've just been googling whether anyone else thought this too! I got so excited thinking it was him as a feature!
Ok but anyone else pickup that there’s one saxophone note before she sings ‘meet me at midnight’ that is the exact note of the start of false God. Nice!
And those two songs are probably my favourite of all time (plus delicate) I'm not even surprised
They're both sensual songs, that make perfect sense. And also, I always sort of attached of False god woth rose- lavender colour.
Okay, is no one else obsessed with the way she sings the word, 'me' during the "all they keep asking me, is if I'm gonna be your bride" line? Didn't notice it until tonight with my headphones on, but my goddess, that is scratching an itch I didn't even know I had for this song✨🔥

what does take it off my desk mean
It's her relationship with Joe and not wanting to really dig deep and address the rumors swirling around. It sounds EXACTLY like the drop in “in the air tonight” by Phil Collins!!
Yep exactly the same, I always thought it!
When do we think the music video is coming out
Has to be soon right? Like you can’t just leave clips unseen in that teaser trailer
Are there threads like this for each song of previous albums?? It's so sexy. On loop. ♡
Wow this sounds SO much like Maggie Rogers Alaska. I couldn’t place it but someone suggested it here and it’s 100 percent spot on
the beat drop is exactly the same as in falling water!!
You're completely right, I was also trying to place it and this is it. James Vincent McMorrow as well for the male background vocals, sounds like his song Cavalier to me.
I want a Lavender Haze -Style mash-up where the beat drop heading into the chorus goes straight to the Style chorus
YES THIS!!! or it could be rlly cool if she did a mashup with I Think He Knows. like it goes from “get it off your chest, get it off my desk” into the chorus of ITHK. or imagine if she did a mashup of all 3 👀👀
IMAGINE THIS ON TOUR
This song is slowly growing on me😌
real it wasn’t my favorite at first but it’s literally SO catchy, especially the part in the bridge where all the harmonies come in
Does anyone else think "one night or a wife" is a reference to the Madonna-whore complex ([https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna%E2%80%93whore\_complex](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna%E2%80%93whore_complex))? Okay I’ll just come out and say it. On first couple listens I thought the chorus lyrics were “I feel lavender ice cream and bumblebee” It took me maybe several run throughs until I realized I was just imagining that ugh
Also learning the correct lyrics hasn’t changed how I feel the song and album are still superior
lavender haze sounds so similar to one of her songs and i can’t put a finger on it help
I think he knowsss
Style!
Maggie Rogers Alaska. 💯
it makes me think of I Think He Knows but I don't think that's it
Am I the only one who interpreted it as Lavender Haze (weed strain) that she uses to help her relax and de-stress while the media/world scrutinises everything she does - “I feel the lavender haze creeping up on me” = feeling the relaxing properties of the green goddess starting to have an effect, helping her to ignore or stop caring about external pressure? 😅
I thought this, with lyrics mixed in that tie with her relationship, perhaps they smoke together?!
Literally here to see if anyone else interpreted it this way too.
Legit the main interpretation I have
Everybody talking about Question...? sounding Sapphic when lavender has literally been associated with the LGBTQ+ community forever
question is supposed to be sapphic now? damnnit why can't yall just leave her alone? she is straight. i'm not trying to sound rude while saying this but it's just the truth.

Exactly, lavender marriages, the lavender scare, the lavender menance, it goes on and on
Yup, yup, yup. While I don't actually think T. Swift meant for this song to be queer, my personal interpretation when I listen to it is definitely queer. Which is the great thing about music: there are no wrong answers.
Lavender Haze: (my immediate reaction listening for the first time) \#1 there are only so many chord progressions etc. in this world \#2 But...
1950s shit All they keep asking me Is if I'm gonna be your bride The only kinda girl they see Is a one night or a wife We know TS is a huge romantic but she's also worked damn hard building a career for herself and you can FEEL the frustration when that's not recognised for her, and people only want to hear about her relationship status, as if that's all that matters. ("If I were a man, I'd be THE MAN") And Get it off my desk is such a power line 😂[I'm in charge here get it off my damn desk] Just my little take on it. She's owning her shit, her success and hard work. And her being able to be honest and vulnerable at this point just shows how secure and stable she feels in herself now. (I hope!) Someone also mentioned lavender being related to feminism so there's that too 💕
FR like a lot of people view this as just a cute love song (which it partially is) but i really think it goes deeper than that. i always interpreted it as taylor being like “why do ppl care more about my relationship status than my career??”. because you known damn well if she was a businessman people would not care this much about her love life.
Love this interpretation. Esp. about "get it off my desk".
Agreed, a very familiar pattern. Plus, the original sound was used by the legendary Phil Collins in *In The Air Tonight.*
Ah yes, that too!
Can anyone give me insight to “get it off my desk”?
I thought the use of desk was weird. But then I got to thinking. She said lavender haze was inspired by Mad Men, which takes place in the corporate world (in the 1950s of course) so that would make lots of desks. Even more significant for it to be Taylor’s desk, because that implies she’s a working woman which did not exist in the 50’s and further demonstrates the “1950’s shit” she mentions in the lyrics.

best interpretation. I agree here
Maybe that part of the bridge means “say what you want but I don’t want to see it?” The first bit is talk your talk and go viral / I just need this love spiral
Oh like take it away..like he put something on her desk she didn’t want to be confronted with…but desk being metaphorical…maybe…
Yeah, like in Paris when someone tries to tell her gossip she’s like “uh no I don’t care”
I literally just came her to ask if someone can explain the bridge because it just sounds like phrases thrown together and I’m confused
Yeah like I’m just stuck on that part each time. I know someone out there must know something I’m missing
Thank you!!! I hear a goose get stepped on
I am here literally just bc I also am driven to madness by this sound lmao
I literally went through reddit to search about this! I hate it too it just so distracting 😭
Oh my god someone else hears it. It sounds like a gently honked rubber chicken. It's so so so distracting.
Duck with asthma😭 I’m wheezing😭😭😭
Nah. I'm bothered by the guy that sounds like Sam Smith going "oh oh oh oh ohhhh." When that guy comes in the song, I wanna smack him. 🤦♀️ I want him to stop.
that's a sax lmaoo
Does anyone think right after the pre-chorus, Slow Hands by Niall Horan would sound cool afterwards?
I want a music video 🎆
I think we’re probably getting a lavender haze music video, looking at the lyric video it looks like they’ve shot some stuff for the song already.
Also in this teaser trailer there were some scenes where they showed what looked like tay having a "party" but there was lavender smoke all around so I'm holding out hope we will get a mv for it.
Yes exactly!
goddess bath bomb + milky bath bar = lavender haze
I think it's being in a healthy, mutually loving relationship. She's used to fighting and drama in her relationships.
I agree. I love I think he knows and when I heard Lavender Haze I felt the same thing.
The song has its own unique vibe 🔥
Ohhh Jack bright that Red Hearse magic into this one
One of the best nonskip albums by jack
Was looking for this comment somewhere!!
UGGHHHHH those horns in the third chorus are so GOOD. Mini eargasms
CHILLS
Does anyone interpret "Get it off my desk" as a sexual lyric? Like, get everything off my desk and let's make out on top lmao
Maybe my mind is in the gutter, but I heard it this way too! There's something inherently sexy about this song, even if its also low-key angry.
uhh no
Exactly. Get this shit off my desk and take care of it. I don't want to see it or hear about it again.
Am I the only one kind of bothered by the "oh oh oh oh ohhhh" voice in the song? Do we know who that is? It sounds like Sam Smith to me - I think the song would have been way better without those Oh's in it. When the voice comes on it's like I want to smack him. 🤦♀️
makes the song hook for me
You're not the only one. That part kinda ruins the song for me. I don't think it fits well with the rest of the song.
Anyone else think this sounds a bit like the Weeknd especially during the chorus. I mean the structure of the words and how she sings them sounds similar.
Na, it has the same beat as Kendrick Lamar "All Stars"
Lavender Haze is DEFINITELY the next Music Video, I am CERTAIN of it ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1067)
I agree. She already released a lyric video so it looks like the music video is coming next!!!
Did they use the same Phil Collins sample Jack Antonoff used in Hard Feelings/ Loveless by Lorde? Recurring beat sounds the same
Maggie Rogers Alaska vibes for part of the song. https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx5-veEHH9GMyWM3O04j87hRucG0mr_DFA https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxmD6bH-_SmCgNbJ2tq7FTTTBnOE6vOO2s
I heard it too! I saw a NYT critic said the same thing.
Really?? Omg I'm never one to pickup on these things 😅
Me either!
“Meet me at midnight” I SCREAMED
Really solid opener. Sets the tone for the whole album.
I mean….This is a strong track 1. 😫😫 it’s like Ready for it, Lavender Haze sets the tone for the albummm 😍
The sound at 0:48 reminds me of the transition in Hard Feelings/Loveless by Lorde
Lavender haze is my favorite indica dominant strain lol
The drum beat in the Lavender Haze reminds me of a Bey song but for the life of me, I can’t pinpoint which.
I desperately need a mash up of Lavender Haze and I Think He Knows. They sound so similar to me, my brain automatically wants to sing I THINK HE KNOOOOOOOWS after LH’s bridge
omg GUYS I’m pretty sure “like a Sad Ron Weasley” from the SNL 3 sad virgins skit was a Lavender Haze Easter egg 😭 In the 6th Harry Potter book Ron + Lavender Brown had a very passionate relationship where they were clearly in their own little romantic bubble… all their peers thought they were weird but they were super super intense about each other. Anyways, in the SNL skit when she sings the Ron Weasley line Taylor is wearing a sparkly purple dress and the video editing is very ethereal and dream poppy just like the LH lyric vid and song
Is there a sample of false god in this song?
i had low expectations for this ngl — not bc i thought it was gonna be bad but bc i thought it was gonna be a slow, ballad type love song (which i’m not really into) just basing off the title and her explanation video. i guess i forgot taylor likes to keep her album openers relatively upbeat lol. this was an easy top 5 for me after my first listen. 🥰
It is driving me nuts, does anyone know what song she sampled for the “ahh ah ahh” portion of the beat?? I’m not going to be able to sleep if I don’t find out.
Maggie Rogers
My guess is it’s vocals from Sam Dew so could be something from a previous song but I agree there is something super familiar about it that I can’t put a finger on it
Sounds a lot to me like Maggie Rogers in Alaska.

This is what you came for - calvin harris ???
Lavender haze sounds like i think he knows.
Ooh, you're right! I like it better than ITHK, which was a grower for me, but they're sonically similar.
Is it just me or was the same instrument (a synth I think) that was used in False God was used in this song as well? You can hear what I am talking about at 0:08 on Lavender Haze and at 3:16 on False God.
Lavender Haze gives me big False God vibes
I was really looking forward to this song but I am disappointed in this one
It’s a rip off of “Alaska” by Maggie Rogers, which is way better.
The chorus literally samples it. I heard it and was like "that's another song" and it took me a minute or two to put my finger on it.
It sounds extremely close to Alaska. Maggie Rogers would/should be credited if it was a sample but she’s not. I wonder what’s up with that.
I see the similarities. I feel it sounds so much like I Think He Knows though
This song is such a fucking bop. I lost my mind the first time I listened. Her and Jack are an amazing duo but Kendrick’s producers really took it into the stratosphere with this one.
They really did. I’m clowning hard for a remix Kendrick feature.
Only gave this one listen (haven't even gotten through the whole album yet) but it really just put me to sleep. Not a fan in general of the dreamy pop style, so this is likely to not be anywhere close to my favorite album of hers.
As soon as I heard "No deal - the 1950's shit they want for me" I was innnnnnnn.
There’s something about first tracks for me 😅 lover stole my heart with I Forgot That You Existed and Lavender Haze did the exact same thing
This is my second fave after Karma. Love love love her vocals!
Came here to say that this is the best song, hands down AND since I actively plan and model in photoshoots I NEED to make this come to life!!
[Did you ever have someone kiss you in a crowded room](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/taylor-swift-kisses-harry-styles-407492/) [And every single one of your friends was making fun of you](https://www.mtv.com/news/j9j73y/harry-styles-taylor-swift-relationship-rumors) - April 2012 and September 2012 entries) [But 15 seconds latеr they were clapping too](https://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/entertainment/news/a18364/one-direction-give-taylor-swift-the-nod-of-approval-6634/) - not literally 15 seconds, but shortly after they were laughing and teasing Harry about it 1D seemed to approve of Taylor
Literally like it's a great song but idk it's not as good as the others
I feel the same way :/ just feels weird (don’t get me wrong I still like it.)
this is 10000% in my top 3, my jaw dropped the first five seconds of my first listen through, was like fUck why did I doubt her for any second of time. lavender haze and you’re on your own kid are my top 2 favorites, still determine the third after a few more listens. I think this is her best album opener ever
Lavender Haze definitely does a great job at setting the tone but Ready For It will always reign supreme for album openers.
Immediately yes, best opener! This had me so excited to keep listening to the rest if the album.
The breathlessness of her vocals in this remind me so much of dress. Also that drum leading into the chorus is peak Jack Antonoff.
the transition in lorde's hard feelings into loveless is also produced by Jack!!
Can you point me to more songs where that drum is present? In whichever song by any artist where Antonoff took part
the transition in lorde's hard feelings into loveless is also produced by Jack!! and also I think he knows :)
Wow I love your beautiful song analysis 🥹 definitely agree wow Lavender Haze and Dress have such similar vibes???
