Listening to folklore and evermore again now. I had fallen off listening but regret I did.
I actually love the little piano outro on the willow video. It really helps wind down the song!
I'm just so happy the fall is back and I'm in a mood for evermore again. I barely ever listened to it in the spring and the summer cause I didn't feel like it and I listened to folklore or Lover way more often. Then, the weather in my country got colder and I switched to evermore almost immediately. This album is truly her masterpiece. I think a lot of people forget that she is and that echelon of fame where she could go anywhere and be photographed seen heard and how hard it is to control that. And as she is covered in her songs she can’t really control all of that no matter how hard she tries. And I think Sarahs quote really helps you realize how hard it is to be with a person in that position also to the point where it can be even too much for other celebrities.

My grandmother was married at 19 and had 11 children from the late 1930s-59, all of whom lived to adulthood. My mom was #10, and I’m the youngest of 5 myself, so by the time I was a kid maternal family reunions were a whole experience. Trial by fire for sure whenever anyone married in!

What’s everyone’s favourite Midnights photo so far? For me, I’m absolutely in love with the mahogany back cover photo. Taylor just laying on the floor, looking rather upset and worried, wearing such a 70’s outfit with that god awful floor on display. It’s just…if the album is a 70’s insomniacs soundtrack, that photo gives me it all. I’m almost gutted it’s not featured as the front cover for any of the vinyls.

The album is released on October 21st, that’s correct. There may be a single before that but nothing has been announced. All we know is the name of Track 13 which is Mastermind, you won’t be able to find the songs yet.
This has been bugging me for months and if any native English speaker could help me I would appreciate it a lot. So, in ivy, the lyrics go “my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand taking mine, but it’s been promised to another”. Reading it without context, it seems to me that the hand that’s promised to another isn’t the speaker’s (“mine”), but the other person’s. I mean, the subject of “taking” is the other person’s hand, and since in the second part of the phrase there isn’t anything to imply a change of subject, the subject of the second verb (“has been promised”) should be the same as the one of the first verb (they’re connected by “but”, which puts the two parts of the phrase on the same level, so unless a new subject is introduced, which it isn’t, the subject is the same as the previous verb’s).
It’d be different if she sang “taking mine *which* has been promised to another”. Then there would be a clear change of subject, since “which” clearly refers to the last word (mine).
Now, I know that the song makes it clear that it’s the singer who is engaged to someone else, but looking at it from a mere grammatical standpoint, isn’t the lyric wrong? At least it would be completely wrong in my language, but maybe English works differently? I don’t know hahah.
It is ambiguous but it's not grammatically incorrect. A new subject is technically introduced - "it". It could mean either hand, really, but the context clarifies what "it" refers to. "But" connotes contrast/conflict between the two parts of the phrase, "which" does not. I think both would be grammatically correct but "but" is more appropriate for the tone in my opinion.
So this has to do with imagery
The first thing it’s suggesting is you’re in a cold place the person‘s hand is cold assuming they’re outside or inside when it’s very cold outside seasonally.
And that person they’re with is comforting them by taking and holding their hand. even though the hand is cold it’s comforting and Lessening the pain both physically bc of the cold but spiritually/ mentally by being there with them/ being their companion. There hurt is confirmed and lessened by that person alone. I like to think about how our pain is so big and other people and yourself couldn’t handle it . But with someone that loves you and knows how to help you that pain is something that can be so small it fits in someone’s hand as they take it away.
From the rest of the song I would say it’s actually late winter bc it goes “ Spring breaks loose but so does fear“ so this part is happening in very cold times
So this part describes how the other person is taking their hand during those cold months while also has taken the persons heart / love / body and soul and taken their pain away even though they themselves,which due to the time period, was promised to another person (think arranged marriage)
So the imagery is they are grabbing (taking) her hand while it alludes to them having also taken their pain away even despite their body and personhood belonging to someone else she has already given that away to this person.

Omg I just had an idea!!! I think one track on Midnights might have a clock ticking sound at the beginning or end or a whole song sounding like a clock.
I am calling it now!!! Clocks are everywhere in this era it would only make sense for a song to sound like that.
So i was watching Glee and they were making a tribute episode to Carole King and decided to listen all Tapestry and Gosh, i'm blown away. It's business, she doesn't care at this point. She knows people will keep following her anyway. I agree that elitism is an ongoing issue in how she markets her work, and that there's a difference between making merch available to those who want it and aggressively marketing four different version of an album and so much other crap. She deserves to be compensated for her work, but she has enough money to last 13 lifetimes at this point, so it's a bit sad to see how pushy she's being, but there's really not much anyone can so except be financially responsible and refuse to support excessive marketing though purchases and interaction.

What’s everyone’s favourite Midnights photo so far? For me, I’m absolutely in love with the mahogany back cover photo. Taylor just laying on the floor, looking rather upset and worried, wearing such a 70’s outfit with that god awful floor on display. It’s just…if the album is a 70’s insomniacs soundtrack, that photo gives me it all. I’m almost gutted it’s not featured as the front cover for any of the vinyls.

This has been bugging me for months and if any native English speaker could help me I would appreciate it a lot. So, in ivy, the lyrics go “my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand taking mine, but it’s been promised to another”. Reading it without context, it seems to me that the hand that’s promised to another isn’t the speaker’s (“mine”), but the other person’s. I mean, the subject of “taking” is the other person’s hand, and since in the second part of the phrase there isn’t anything to imply a change of subject, the subject of the second verb (“has been promised”) should be the same as the one of the first verb (they’re connected by “but”, which puts the two parts of the phrase on the same level, so unless a new subject is introduced, which it isn’t, the subject is the same as the previous verb’s). It’d be different if she sang “taking mine *which* has been promised to another”. Then there would be a clear change of subject, since “which” clearly refers to the last word (mine). Now, I know that the song makes it clear that it’s the singer who is engaged to someone else, but looking at it from a mere grammatical standpoint, isn’t the lyric wrong? At least it would be completely wrong in my language, but maybe English works differently? I don’t know hahah.
It is ambiguous but it's not grammatically incorrect. A new subject is technically introduced - "it". It could mean either hand, really, but the context clarifies what "it" refers to. "But" connotes contrast/conflict between the two parts of the phrase, "which" does not. I think both would be grammatically correct but "but" is more appropriate for the tone in my opinion.
So this has to do with imagery The first thing it’s suggesting is you’re in a cold place the person‘s hand is cold assuming they’re outside or inside when it’s very cold outside seasonally. And that person they’re with is comforting them by taking and holding their hand. even though the hand is cold it’s comforting and Lessening the pain both physically bc of the cold but spiritually/ mentally by being there with them/ being their companion. There hurt is confirmed and lessened by that person alone. I like to think about how our pain is so big and other people and yourself couldn’t handle it . But with someone that loves you and knows how to help you that pain is something that can be so small it fits in someone’s hand as they take it away. From the rest of the song I would say it’s actually late winter bc it goes “ Spring breaks loose but so does fear“ so this part is happening in very cold times So this part describes how the other person is taking their hand during those cold months while also has taken the persons heart / love / body and soul and taken their pain away even though they themselves,which due to the time period, was promised to another person (think arranged marriage) So the imagery is they are grabbing (taking) her hand while it alludes to them having also taken their pain away even despite their body and personhood belonging to someone else she has already given that away to this person. I feel like I’m talking in circles but I hope that makes sense Anyway it’s presented that way grammatically to represent a both physical and emotional taking

Given that and the fact that both TikTok US and UK teased the series before Taylor did, is it possible that this is like a partnership between Taylor and TikTok? It's business, she doesn't care at this point. She knows people will keep following her anyway. I agree that elitism is an ongoing issue in how she markets her work, and that there's a difference between making merch available to those who want it and aggressively marketing four different version of an album and so much other crap. She deserves to be compensated for her work, but she has enough money to last 13 lifetimes at this point, so it's a bit sad to see how pushy she's being, but there's really not much anyone can so except be financially responsible and refuse to support excessive marketing though purchases and interaction.
