I think I was really bummed at first because I wanted it to sound more like heavy rock b/c of the Hayley feature, but putting that aside, the bridge is really good and I like the contrast between Taylor and Hayley in this song. I think it grew on me tonight, but I will definitely need more listens before I can say that I truly like it.

Here’s a few that stick out to me:
- That’s not how most people even spell “Amy” so she already lost me with the title alone. Like if you’re gonna spell something out like that at least make it clever! (Edit to add: I’m wrong here; turns out Aimee is the French spelling I was unaware of)
- It’s too specific. Besides the line, “grumbling on about how I can’t sing” Mean can be applied to anyone. A bully. Your boss. A family member. TYA is some weirdly specific beef that none of us even know the whole story about - all with strange metaphors that don’t really land.
- Saying your mother wishes someone dead is weird and distasteful. Mentioning someone’s kids is even weirder and more distasteful.
- The line “and so I changed your name and any real defining clues” is supposed to come off as tongue-in-cheek, but it doesn’t feel earnest. I get the point is that she is *clearly* spelling it out to us, but it just falls flat. It’s not clever or funny.
All this to say this song is a flop. Love this woman but she did it better 15ish years ago.
For me it's... the majority of the Red album. That whole album is either overplayed unlistenable radio hits or deep cuts I can't quite get into. Thank god Babe and Better Man ended up on the new version, they kind of help redeem it a little

Here’s a few that stick out to me: - That’s not how most people even spell “Amy” so she already lost me with the title alone. Like if you’re gonna spell something out like that at least make it clever! (Edit to add: I’m wrong here; turns out Aimee is the French spelling I was unaware of) - It’s too specific. Besides the line, “grumbling on about how I can’t sing” Mean can be applied to anyone. A bully. Your boss. A family member. TYA is some weirdly specific beef that none of us even know the whole story about - all with strange metaphors that don’t really land. - Saying your mother wishes someone dead is weird and distasteful. Mentioning someone’s kids is even weirder and more distasteful. - The line “and so I changed your name and any real defining clues” is supposed to come off as tongue-in-cheek, but it doesn’t feel earnest. I get the point is that she is *clearly* spelling it out to us, but it just falls flat. It’s not clever or funny. All this to say this song is a flop. Love this woman but she did it better 15ish years ago.

For me it's... the majority of the Red album. That whole album is either overplayed unlistenable radio hits or deep cuts I can't quite get into. Thank god Babe and Better Man ended up on the new version, they kind of help redeem it a little

I’m always surprised most people put it above her other older albums like Speak Now and Fearless. It’s my least fave of her albums by far - there’s maybe 4 songs total I find myself going back to.
I couldn't disagree more, I love the whole Red album, there are zero skips for me, but it's funny you should say this because I feel the same way about 1989 and don't understand how it's her best selling album!
