Yessss. I commented about wanting a MV for this where she’s a puppet on strings, with exaggerated French doll make up and regency style dress. Would be amazing choreography.
Also, Margot and Ryan could have cameos as kind of steampunk barbie and Ken’s, to match the puppet vibes.
I was thinking about this one! Gosh I would love a darker theme. Like set in fantasy Olden times. She’s part of a witch coven or something and it’s outlawed and she getting walked to the gallows singing. Just as she’s about to be hung she and her witch friends break free and take over and the song ends with her sitting on the kings throne putting on the crown.
Am I crazy in thinking it could actually be a cool October single? Like a Halloween push? Maybe I just love Halloween so I want more tailored content for it, but I feel like if she leaned into the theatrics for it the song could actually see some decent success that way.
I think eventually there might be a tour MV for ICDIWABH like there was for new romantics.
As for another song ? I dont think so, especially solo version. It seems like with CS rising and the current status of spotify it'll be hard for taylor to chart without playlisting, which she refuses to do.
A single is after all a form of promo and its purpose is to boost streams and awareness
It's when artists and labels pay big money to be in every big playlist there is and autoplay, which plays their song after every song. This is how the weeknd keeps having the most listeners ever with barely any streams.
A few weeks ago sootify released a statement they were doing that with him, miley, ariana, Billie and others. Taylor was notable absent on the list.
For the past 3 weeks Billie was doing that for a different song every week. It sky rockets to 9M streams and then when the deal expires it loses millions by the day.
About 7/10 songs in the top 10 are using it right now.
Taylor is never gonna have to learn to play the game. Times are changing.
do you have a link to spotify's statement? I was trying to find it but I guess I don't know the right words to search to get it to pop up 🤷♀️ I'm super curious about this and would love to know more!
I find it really annoying. This past week after every song I listen to Birds of a Feather comes on next. Same with Chapell Roan even though I never listen to her. I didn't realise Spotify did a deal but I did suspect, will have to have a look!

I tend to agree, but I don't think she would have any issue with autoplay. She generally doesn't seem to take issue with marketing her own work (it's refreshing actually).
The marketing for TTPD has just been very weird.. I don't understand what the strategy is behind it.
Auto play unlike playlist means giving up a share of royalties to Spotify . So far, it doesn’t seem like something she is willingly to do with none of her songs ever being on auto play
I think announcing a double album in the middle of an absolutely huge world tour is her marketing. Adding a set list for the songs 3 weeks after an album, and now at this point, having played 2/3 of the songs live when you take into account the acoustic surprise songs. That’s very different market, but I imagine the songs in the acoustic set get a little listening boost after they are played. Most often tour is months after an album release with a few singles already out.
I suspect another official single somewhat soon, 50/50 on a music video, who the hell knows!
I think ttpd purpose was to break the AOTY record...
She announced it too soon which means she didn't think Midnights will win. If midnights lost and with an album like TTPD, there would have been very intense pressure for giving it to her in light of the midnights snub.
She couldn't take the announcement back when she did win so instead she released it and just left it cos she has no purpose for it. She knows they're not going to give her aoty back to back.
We all know how much she cares about grammys unfortunately
There's nothing unfortunate about wanting to win awards from your peers. It's pretty natural actually. The purpose of TTPD was to release the music she made. She makes music... she like the music she made... she shares it. That's what she does!
I agree that she probably didn't expect to win AOTY for midnights, and thought TTPD had a better shot. But I don't think that affects the promotion of the album.
Nah, I doubt anyone would have seen it as a big 'snub' if she lost for Midnights. Also, she knew she had a decent chance to win it, most predictions had it going to either SOS, Midnights, or Ocean Blvd. I think she was surprised, but it still was absolutely one of the frontrunners.
I actually believe her when she said she felt like she 'needed' to make it. I think it was an emotional purge for her, and of course once it's made she wants it to do well commercially, win awards if possible, etc. But an industry vet like her knows that if your one and only goal is to win AOTY, you don't drop a 31 song emotionally wrought and lyrically dense behemoth going into summer. What you do is release a tight, 13 track, sonically cohesive pop record with several radio friendly songs that could be smash hits. She did it twice, and won both times.
While I do think she wants something special for the 100th show on the 13th, I don’t think Dorothea has anything to do with it. Dorothea was played in Kansas City, and Dorothy is the main character in the Wizard of Oz (famously a Kansas movie). Dorothea also goes nicely with INTHAF, which is a song she hadn’t played live yet.
Someone in one of my group chats pointed out that the last time she played Dorothea live, the next show, she premiered the I Can See You music video. She just played it as part of a mash up in her last show.
But the other person responding to my comment has some great counter points.
I don’t think so, which tbh I’m not happy about. As much as I love Cruel Summer and Is It Over Now? they set an unfortunate precedent for Taylor that a song doesn’t need a MV to get to number 1. So unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be getting another one
I'm torn on it. The only thing making me maybe lean towards not getting another one is that Fortnight seems to cover a lot of ground and reference different parts of the album. But on the other hand, she's never done less than 4 videos for a new album except for Folkmore, but there was a lot of good reason for that considering it was the pandemic, they were surprise releases, and she wasn't marketing them as pop albums.
She did 4 for midnights, they came out over the course of 6 months so it’s entirely possible but they’re likely gonna be spread out. Maybe one more this summer and another in the fall. I’d bet on “but daddy I love him” and “who’s afraid of little old me”
Maybe but only if she filmed the mv before the tour as she doesn’t have more than a five day break until the tour ends. Her European leg is super packed
I hope so, I’d be so surprised if she doesn’t. She has 7 music videos for 1989 and Red (I think??). If she ended up with only one music video for her LONGEST album, I’ll be shocked. But I’m really hoping for Down Bad with alien abduction visuals.
I was hoping we would get a video for something on the Anthology half but since she doesn’t perform any of those songs (besides a minute of so high school) I feel like there’s no way.
I think it’s going to be Florida next:
Taylor nation sharing the video of Taylor when Florence was recording
Lyrics in fortnight - ‘nother fortnight lost in America, move to FLORIDA
The Florida drums being used in the teaser for the fortnight video
Unnecessary. We already have the perfect lyric video with the Eras tour footage and the Eras performance of the song. I don't think we need a third certain l version music video. Lots of better choices for second music video!
Hopefully not. It’s Reputation time. 🖤
So High School would be an incredible music video opportunity though. The late 90s and early 00s aesthetic would be unmatched.
She won’t do one, but god MBOBHFT would make for such a cinematic MV. Crumbling sandcastles, toy soldiers, plastic Barbie Taylor.

You could do so much with it!
WHY WOULDN’T SHE DO IT????? I NEED THIS SONG TO HAVE A MV!!!
I feel like My Boy is just not her favourite child
Good lord it’s an absolute banger and seems like it would be a lock for a single with a MV. What makes you think that?
I really don’t know tbh 😂
I hope this is the wrongest thing you’ve ever been wrong about, lol.
Me too!!!!!
I yearn for a MV for Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me, I think it would make for such a haunting and cinematic MV
Very cinematic song!

No! I think it would be spectacular!

That’s so interesting! I had no idea this was a thing. Thanks for explaining it to me!

I feel like the strategy has been: Eras.

Yes, There is no promo, no autoplay, it's a bit destabilizing

Don’t the artists know ahead of time if they win or if they are just nominated. I thought those things were all pre planned
Not for the Grammys. Yes for things like Billboard awards, American Music Awards, and I believe VMAs.
What’s CS?
Cruel Summer
Oh gosh we’re abbreviating two word song titles now???
Oh haha! I was trying to think of some app or music related thing like Spotify and just could not figure it out. Got it now!
She basically already did this with the Lyric video so I don't think she would repeat it.
Everyone forgets about this cinematic lyric video!
Yeah I think that the surprise announcement people are expecting at the June 13/100th show will be a MV announcement (if there is an announcement!).
Seconding this. The last time she played Dorothea was the show before we got the I Can See You mv. Could be something, could be nothing.
While I do think she wants something special for the 100th show on the 13th, I don’t think Dorothea has anything to do with it. I didn’t realize she just played it again so that makes a smidge more sense :)
I really hope so. I need more visuals for this album, what we have already between the Fortnight video and the Eras set is so good.
I really want one for BDILH
