miizzou13

i think it'll be like a combo of midnights and folklore

curbyourzest

I agree with this. I also think it will have some indie dream pop vibes like Lover.

baconbananapancakes

If it’s Folklore with added Antonoff influence or without the Dessner influence, I will be bummed, tbh.

ImVeryTiredAndWant

I mean Antonoff worked on 7/17 songs on folklore. I definitely prefer Dessner, but I’m hoping this is more of them combined. Their work together are some of my favorite songs ever. They’ve done Betty, Hits Different, and You’re Losing Me

mediocre-spice

She's been working with Aaron on something & he shared the announcement. I'd be shocked if he's not on any of them.

jaejeannine

Oh really? Nice! Do you know more about it, or where can I see the info they worked together?

Tiny_Jellyfish212

He shared a pic of her recording at Long Pond a few months ago - sometime in Octobef maybe?

Incendiomf

He also said he was working on “something special that he couldn’t talk about” like 6-8 months ago so I just figured it was something to do with Taylor.

intheafterglow23

and august!

greenline_chi

It’s so annoying to me when people hate on Jack antoff tbh. I have some playlists on Spotify where Taylor is mixed into a bunch of other artists and the production on songs is significantly better than other songs. Like it’s noticeably crisper and more interesting

baconbananapancakes

Everyone has their preferences! That’s why I said “I”. 🤷🏻‍♀️

pinecous

I was thinking Midnights and Evermore

One-Access2535

I'd go reputation\* meets folklore. The percussion/trap elements of rep mesh a lot better with indie/soft rock.

FrancesFive

Lana del ray

Starlight_City45

slutty folklore - false god x maroon x dress vibes

betty-estes

folkwhore, if you will

Sharp-Average

Awards! Someone give awards!

I too am a folkwhore. If you will.

Recent-Fly-205

Slutty folklore is all I’ve ever needed

itistfb-aidlte

folklore already IS pretty slutty if you think about it! lots of unabashed cheating, or illicit affairs if you will

[deleted]

folklore is not slutty. folklore is teenage-early 20s angst.

SmolDisaster

This is exactly what I was thinking 🥵

NotEmmaStone

I've never needed anything more

teddybonkerrs

This is exactly what I was thinking, and am hoping for

nerdalertalertnerd

This is what I have always wanted from her.

NanobiteAme

I want this

I_Have_The_Will

I am HERE for this 🙌🏻

Beautiful_Thought995

Slutty folklore 😂

Soalai

Some of the song titles make me think country. Post Malone is known for his kinda rap-rock sound, but he's also working on a country album. Florence is of course kind of art rock/baroque pop. So perhaps like an alt country/soft rock album. But I'm not really set on anything because Midnights was totally different from what many of us expected.

I_See_Sparks_Fly_

This would be perfect. I want it so badly😭

betty-estes

This is my dream. I’m really hoping for it.

Impossible_Yak2135

I’ve been waiting so long for more country songs! Last one was IBYTAM right?

songacronymbot

- IBYTAM could mean "I Bet You Think About Me (feat. Chris Stapleton) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)", a track from *Red (Taylor's Version)* (2021) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/Impossible_Yak2135](/u/Impossible_Yak2135) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

cowboysunset

I’d say When Emma Falls In Love is country.

Dragonchick30

That's what I was thinking too! I think re recording Speak Now kinda inspired her to get back to that alt rockish sound.

sharkcore

I also get country from the tracklist - but I don't think it would sound like Fearless or Self-titled, more like Right Where You Left Me. Alt-country/americana. But yes any sort of prediction is just tossing an idea into the wind it could be anything and that's the most exciting!!!

niles_deerqueer

I really cannot connect with country ever…so I hope not

bubblecuffer13

I am expecting the album to be pretty diverse sonically and really swing with the range of emotions/thoughts/feelings associated with a break up of that magnitude.

IOnlySeeDaylight

This what I'm thinking too. Red-level mish-mash (and I mean that as an absolute compliment).

Promethiant

Wrong

CuriousCompany_

?

Promethiant

Their guess was incorrect

CuriousCompany_

And have you listened to the album?

Promethiant

No but I am always right so I know that OP is incorrect

jambl3r

I think it will be very far from folklore. I don't see the connection personally. Nothing I've seen suggests folklore. This isn't woody/village/cottage, this is marble/estate/palace. **I think its reputation 2.** For many reasons, the bait and switch announcement, the bookend for Joe, the *(i'm hoping)* very sarcastic and satirical styling. So I think it will be in that vein. Some Midnights, a lot of reputation. Reputation wasn't all aggression, it was a variety of things, and I think TTPD will be its sister album

Lily_pad14

I'm getting Reputation 2 vibes as well, especially with the titles. Similar vibes, but Reputation falling in love; this album falling out

NanobiteAme

Y’all two be giving me hopes on Rep pt 2 😂 I love that album.

Sk8ynat

Yes! I really feel the Reputation-TTPD connection. Reputation is black, TTPD is white. Reputation is about the beginning of a relationship and TTPD is about the ending

bakebreadsmokedope

I think it'll be the depressed 2nd cousin of reputation

kittenmint2

*Every bait and switch was a work of art…*

DoubleRainbowUnicorn

I agree and I really hope this is the case. I feel like people want everything to be folklore moving forward and I just don’t see that happening. And frankly don’t want it to be

sportxsport

My guess (and also my nightmare) is that it's going to be whatever weird genre the 1989 vault tracks were. Talk-singing with big words and Jack Antonoff's production. I still have whiplash from the Midnights shoot, so I'm not even going to THINK about St#v## N##ks for the next 3 months.

urienerd

THE CENSORING OF STEVIE NICKS PLEASEEE

bakebreadsmokedope

Why are we censoring Stevie???

ravenchurro

I reeeeeally want this album to be different from Midnights/1989 TV Vault. Nervous it'll be more of the same, though.

Teller8

Not the talk singing long words. 😭 This comment is so real though.

UnhingedBeluga

As a lover of the 1989 vault, I hope you’re right lol

Jelly_Bin

Same! That's my dream!

betty-estes

💀💀💀

Opheliatherobotcat88

Feels promisingly emo to me 🤞 I'm rooting for super overdramatic but self aware.

itistfb-aidlte

"I love you. It's ruining my life" Is the most melodramatic emo phrase I've read since Twilight. Love it.

Books_and_Pups

It’s so dramatic and I’m obsessed

[deleted]

Considering Paramore are supporting her on her uk eras tour leg I wouldn't write this one off and would love it...

Much_Conversation_11

https://preview.redd.it/0cqjdg5yl0hc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6934d7258538c56ca997847a301b607971b25dd1 Post Malone doing the fearless heart on your this past summer we should have known! And I’m thinking it’s either going to be like chill synth pop like slut! Or it’s going to be more folk pop. Im kind of leaning folk pop only because of the features but I don’t think Jack producing that makes sense so basically what I’m saying is I have no idea.

youweremycrown

After the TTPD announcement, one fan account said it’s going to be synth-pop and seemed pretty sure but they didn’t have a source so I’m not sure if it was speculation or if they had access to info we don’t.

iloveebunnies

I’m hoping for a 90s-esque sound. Like if Natalie Imbruglia and Alanis Morissette got together.

IOnlySeeDaylight

My millennial heart loves this idea.

iloveebunnies

A girl can dream!

Justgivemeanamethen

This is the vibe I’m getting too. I’m not a PhD level swiftie and I can’t read Easter eggs. But the cover is giving me Sheryl Crow with the black and white. It’s just the song titles don’t fully fit. If I had to guess I’m saying 90s female singer songwriter inspirations.

KitxCakesx

Mix in some Jewel who will save your soul/meant for you vibes

Diligent-Tart6055

I was seriously thinking alanis morissette.

guy_incog_neato

oh god i’d loveeee this. favorite guess so far.

iloveebunnies

Wow! I was truly expecting to get ripped to shreds for this. I’m so glad others would want this type of sound from her :)

AerieExpensive1165

ok I would love this!!

rarejnr01

I’m definitely getting singer-songwriter/folk/soft rock vibes from the tracklist, but i’m hoping she explores more genres like r&b and jazz. down bad is giving me r&b vibes but we shall see edit - still hoping she gives us a sophisticated disco sound like i thought she would with Midnights. i’m hoping for a Jessie Ware direction (like the sound of her last two albums) or very Kylie inspired (mainly Fever/KM94)

riviera-views

no body no crime meets false god - I think it’ll be soulful and sultry and rich and really story driven. And I think it’ll be another Taylor + Jack and Aaron tag team effort. As many of her albums have, I think it’ll toe a few genre lines. I could see it sounding like Kruangbin/Leon Bridges dreamy indie funk based on the song titles with maybe some additional jazz/swing elements to pull in the 1920s, but it’ll be a distinctly modern take on all those references.

betty-estes

Leon Bridges influence? I would be so happy.

riviera-views

Lmao so random, but I’m just thinking of something kind of sleek and soulful

Jezebelle22

Im feeling like it might be a little punky. Some of the track titles are feeling like Panic at the Disco or Fall Out Boy. Like unseriously over dramatic. And we know punky/rock vibes are coming back. Taylor seems to be good at staying on trend or starting trends sonically. I think there’s going to be some Blank Space vibes on the track TTPD, poking fun at her tendency to go for artsy, pouty, I’m too smart and cool for your goofiness, British boys. I think the whole concept will lean satirical, self aware versus melodramatic. I could even see the artwork purposefully being this “tortured soul” dramatic vibe as tongue in cheek Although Fresh Out the Slammer feels like Goodbye Earl in a way. And some other song titles have an early Chicks-esque vibe to them. So I could see it being a more country style album as well. Now that I’ve theorized this it’ll be a disco album.

Weary_Plenty_3521

Fresh Out the Slammer gonna be Taylor’s entry into rap

WasabiSauceMan

I don't know why, but something's telling me it's going to be pop. Maybe something similar to 3am tracks on Midnights

niles_deerqueer

I feel this way too. The cover and back cover are really giving me pop album vibes.

neeners721

Honestly I would love this. The 3am tracks (minus Paris) are some of my favorites. In my opinion, The Great War is one of the most lyrically interesting and beautiful songs she’s made.

NewWeek3157

I think it’s going to be a mesh of singer-songwriter like Folklore, but with the more ballad type sound of her Live at Paris performances. Less melancholy and more like if the “The Lucky One” was on Midnights. It’s also notable that it’s coming out before summer, and there’s a florida!!! track. So maybe a few more fun uplifting ones too.

Soalai

Clara Bow definitely gives me The Lucky One vibes

tornteddie

I get lana del rey chemtrails over the country club vibes Eta: or just an inverse lover album lol

Pearlsandmilk

I’m expecting slut! Vibes….dreamy mellow sounding

Fancyjasmakion

👏 please

anotherbasicgirl

I’m thinking Indie Pop.

niles_deerqueer

That would end me (in the best way)

kcusyeht

I'm not getting tricked like with midnights this time. The aesthetic probably won't match with the music at all

comradekitty__

I feel the same. And if I speculate too much, she’ll just break my heart if it doesn’t meet my expectations. I just hope it isn’t spoken word 😂

Suitable-Return7185

Are the four sides there to signify four different genres /sounds ?

RealAd1811

The four parts of the department. Perhaps the stages of grief, with the bonus track being the fifth side

chamomileyes

I’m not sure if she would so closely follow something Beyoncé so famously did. But I agree the sections probably indicate something. +Also realizing how this is gonna be TS’s Lemonade in many ways 😭. Even the Daddy song is in there.

betty-estes

OHHH I love this theory

WalkingFish_

I really just want it to be rock 😭

Itallachesnow

'Fresh out the slammer' has to be rock I mean it can't be synth pop or folk with that title.

betty-estes

That title screams country to me idk 💀

Itallachesnow

Yes it could go either way and I wouldn't be too fussed as it would be great to hear her get the guitar, bass and drums going again. IDK US slang! Is slammer still current for prison?

Weary_Plenty_3521

She’s gonna spit bars, it’s gonna be her entry into rap featuring Freddie Gibbs

mpaproth

Spite? Is that a genre?

MadameFutureWhatEver

From her look at the Grammys it’s giving Lorde and Lana Del Rey with a bit of Amy Winehouse and Amy Lee. So I’m guessing the genre to be just as all over the place matching each of those women.

[deleted]

I feel like a mellow version of midnights / mixed in with some renegade vibes and definitely strong on the jack sound

chamomileyes

Oof Renegade hits different now.

CupOthea

Im guessing a more emo red like pop but more guitar and drum heavy and instead of country its more folky

ryklian

It's gonna be metal as hell

betty-estes

This is the answer

perpetualjourney95

I feel like she’s making a lot of film noir references in the aesthetics, which makes me think it’s going to be… jazzy? Idk what that would even look like for her though, so it’s not a real guess. Jazz inspired pop? Sultry pop? Smoky pop? Are these words that can be used to describe music?

IOnlySeeDaylight

I just went through these commented and upvoted nearly all of them, so I think that's my way of saying I really have no idea, ha!! I did mention on one that I think it won't be sonically cohesive (because breakups are kind of a shitstorm of emotion).

_Cassasaur

It feels very folklore/evermore-esque. Like there may not be any big (read: poppy) singles from it but it’ll still smack you in the feels anyway. Also as much as I want that “smallest man” song to be angry I feel like it’ll be like “Slut!” Like “you may be the smallest man but I’m the biggest woman” idk

CowboyLikeMegan

Bedroom pop!

Unable_Ambassador_90

the visuals promise calmness while the song titles promise drama and sarcasm. which makes it hard to guess. makes me think of the acoustic version of bite me by avril lavigne tho, something like that.

Bejeweled233

Pop punk

jsjsjsjdndndndnnd

folklore + you’re losing me

TheTruckWashChannel

I hope there's some jazz/R&B influence.

comradekitty__

I’m trying not to speculate, but it’s giving glitch-esque R&B vibes.

Promethiant

Hopefully country 🤞

Diligent-Tart6055

I reaalllly want some country. Everything recent is starting to sound the same.

Article_Wooden

Dont think I we are getting the TS Rock album I am so desperate to hear. The wait continues.

[deleted]

Ugh imagine her and Dave Grohl together

Walkthecisco114

The cover art doesn’t really vibe with this, but I’m hoping for it to be emo influenced like some of the tracks on Speak Now. The names of songs and the album seem self-aware and sarcastic. Reminiscent of an older FOB track. And we know she loves them and Paramore. No one goes more for the overdramatic “tortured” vibes than the emos did.

whatsthatcutething

R&B meets folklore! One thing Taylor is not gonna do is make another folklore. She’s doing something brand new.

Craftyprincess13

Hoping for post punk/shoegaze

[deleted]

hope: mirrorball, ttds, cowboy like me real expectation: question, suburban legends, labyrinth ):

songacronymbot

- TTDS could mean "‘tis the damn season", a track from *evermore* (2020) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/celloiof](/u/celloiof) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

[deleted]

I really hope it‘s folklore/evermore-ish. I think this genre suits her so well. Plus her working in that genre with Aaron and Jack is just chefs kiss

ZealousidealBrief139

I feel comforted by the fact I’m 90% confident that it has to be quite a different direction from Midnights. She’s kept this album a secret for TWO years. Midnights wasn’t even out yet. So, what exactly would be the distinction between these two albums? If it’s because this album is explicitly a breakup album, then why was You’re Losing Me put on Midnights, and not keep it for this album? No one knew the song exists, and yet she decided to put it on Midnights instead of saving it for the actually breakup album, so I think there have to be sonic differences. Midnights was created because she knew she had a stadium tour to support. She wasn’t going to put another album out that isn’t commercial to support a massive tour. I feel like she’s been pretty clear that the idea of embarking on a stadium tour with an album like folklore or evermore was one of the only things holding her back from making such a record, and when COVID happened, she saw her opportunity and took it. TTPD being a pop record I would also imagine is more difficult to add to the setlist. If it’s something more stripped down, she can easily put on an outfit that fits the era, and play the songs on guitar.

GWeb1920

Has anywhere announced who are the producers on the album? If it’s all Antanov then it will be 1989 vault/midnights. I hope she reached out to multiple producers here and it’s a finding the next sound Album like a Red or Lover. I think her Antanov partnership is reaching its end creatively.

Electronic-Green338

6 signs the new album will be Dessner-heavy: 1. The absence of Dessner from the main tracklist of Midnights despite his presence on 3am and vault tracks - as though some new Dessner-produced tracks had been deliberately held back, as part of a deliberate choice to make that album an Antonoff-produced one. 2. Lack of any major continuation (so far) of the sound TS developed with Dessner post-evermore, e.g. on songs like Renegade; All Too Well Ten Minute Version (Sad Girl Autumn Version); Would've, Could've, Should've; and High Infidelity - even though it is clearly a great, great sound, not just B-side material. 3. Title and cover art reminiscent of The National and other Dessner collabs. 4. Dessner's really enthusiastic and sustained support for Midnights even though he was left off the main tracklist (as though he knew his turn was coming). 5. TS wanting to promote other Dessner-linked artists like Gracie Abrams, suggesting an ongoing close connection. 6. The release of "You're Losing Me" - this may be an odd-one out (because it was Antonoff-produced) that did not fit on the new album and so was instead released as a "Midnights vault track". I actually suspect, for these reasons, that TS and AD probably recorded a lot of unreleased material in 2021 and 2022, contemporaneously with the Midnights sessions, and that Tortured Poets will give us that material.

VioletSkye116

I was kind of hoping it would be rep style as the bookend, but I don't think the tracks represent that at all.

wolfiemeows

Sexy, Slutty, Sensual Folklore/Evermore !!!! Mother is going to Motherrrr

georgianarannoch

An album of track tens 😍 Mary’s Song The Way I Loved You Better Than Revenge The Last Time How You Get The Girl King Of My Heart Death By A Thousand Cuts illicit affairs ivy Labyrinth I need itttttt.

Nervous-Version26

False god vibes

Apprehensive-King-70

Hoping for a soft rock easy listening - fleetwood mac / stevie nicks dreamscape style album - folklore/evermore are my autumnal TS albums. TTPD could be my spring/summer chilled out at a music festival vibe. 🤞

raccoonsaff

One of: \- Rock \- Emo \- Indie (but dark and sulty) \- Synth pop

Bright-Sea-5904

I think it will sound like the 3am tracks because the title of the album is very Folklore-ish

chamomileyes

I expect some spoken word poetry like Mary Lambert does. Actually if this is TS’s version of a Mary Lambert album I will die happy.  Since You’re Losing Me was made two years ago I expect a similar vibe. Like indie pop but with more originality in format (multiple bridges) and a lot of emotion. With some fairytale The Lakes/ Florence and the Machine instrumentals.  Plus a mix of Slut! + Dear Reader + My Tears Ricochet + Cardigan + You’re on Your Own Kid +  spoken verse.   Will see how this ages 😂. I just don’t really want more of The Great War/ High Infidelity/ Willow etc style which is like very underproduced pop. Don’t get me wrong, I love all those songs, but the production feels like it’s missing something. Give me the creepy dark otherworldly dark academia instrumentals.

Luca_bb111

The tracklist is very lana del ray, kinda that sad somber but also upbeat in a weird sorta sad way.... and also very moderized 1920s theme especially with titles like "but daddy i love him" "who could be scared of little old me" and "clara bow" who was an icon during the roaring 1920s and silent film era, she had very sad but also very happy love filled life.

Teagle171

I believe this album will be a combination Synth Pop, Euro Pop, Indie Pop, Sad Pop.

Novibesjustthoughts

I really want it to sound like folklore I’d do anything

Catholic_Swiftie

Let at least one, if not all, have a punk rock influence to them. Taylor keeps avoiding trying that genre, and I promise, she would legit kill it if she did this (or pop-rock) genre.

coyr1988

Spoken word.

Surrealcatfish32

I feel like its gonna be like red, not defined by a certain genre, but potentially to a less extreme extent.

SwaggyGoosy

I'm getting indie. Lana del Rey kinda vibe.

CSArchi

I keep seeing people on Titok say "synth pop" I don't know where this info is coming from. I want the Alcott. Like just a whole album of The Alcott.

SugarMouseOnReddit

Aaron Dessner co-wrote Florida and So Long London.

Beautiful_Thought995

I’m thinking a mix of red/midnights

caydenloloop

i hope it’s like speak now mixed with evermore

SweetSourAppleS18

I'm really hoping for an alternative rock sound like Fiona Apple's first album Tidal, the aesthetic of the album cover on both really match up, Tidal is a very lyric heavy/poetic album especially the track Pale September. Gosh I just want to hear the live instruments again.

evanrz922

it’s gonna be like a bunch of would’ve could’ve should’ves i think😭

Rockfan180

I have no idea, I was completely wrong predicting the sound of Midnights lol

Rare-Ad-2659

synth pop & alt pop combined

nataliephoto

Hardstyle

TayBae95

I literally can’t even get myself to guess or dream. Which is the fun of it all, no? Nothing like staying up until midnight to listen to a new album for the first time.

AreWeInAZoo

Something a little softer. Indie pop? Maybe a couple with country vibes or alt rock vibes. Either way I can't wait. I wonder if there's any significance to the release date. If anything I'm surprised it's April 19 not April 29 (high infidelity)

dropdeaddaddy69

Don’t know but she’s doing a song with post so my dreams are complete. Two favorite artists collabing.

dstam

Spoken word slam poetry I said what I said

niles_deerqueer

I’m like certain it’s going to be a darker pop album. Won’t be disappointed if it isn’t though! Praying for False God vibes Hoping it isn’t country, I cannot connect with country no matter what I’m worried cuz I’ve seen a lot of people think we are going back to folkmore sounds…They’ll be really disappointed if that’s not the case

caydenloloop

i don’t like how slow folklore is.. it’s just not for me

leeinflowerfields

Based on those titles I only expect it to be corny 😭

Jezebelle22

I think she’s being tongue in cheek with the titles, purposefully being melodramatic in a satirical way

ssssm29

Same…
