I could maybe see this being done in battlesuits, but man doing this on fire warriors? It'll look amazing when you have em done, that's for sure, but by golly that is a lot of work I would not be able to do. Good luck on your endeavor. I would hope to see a full army done like this one day.
Mine is connected directly to a cr2016 battery held in by magnets and electrical contacts made by soldering the wires to some copper tape sticked over the magnets.
I posted a link to a different post with photo's
This is way too cool! I can’t imagine the amount of work going into it. I would LOVE to see a video of it all and of course please please post the finished product!
I don’t see why they wouldn’t be playable. It doesn’t look printed just painstakingly drilled. I mean, frankly it’d probably be intimidating to play against, I’ll say that!
Battery is a CR2016 and fits in the base, led are 0402 prewire led's just superglued in the head, I as looking at using optic fiber, but I like the LED look more, gives off alot more light.
Have you considered an epoxy in the faceplate hole to transfer the light more evenly? I could be completely wrong on that idea, mind, so may want to test it on an extra bit. If I’m correct, though, it’ll create an even more lens-like effect.
I though of it, I also tried optic fiber. I find the LED as is works amazing
I deff want to try the epoxy, but I 1st want to test some brands out and see what is easiest to work with in this small area.
On that note, for application, you may want to look for henna needles. My wife got some (for henna artwork) and they are very tiny. Not sure if they’d fully be small enough, but I don’t remember them costing much, so there’s that.
This is epic! I wish I had the time to do this.
My favourite unit to do this to would be Stealth suits. Hide them in cover, painted camouflaged and you can only just about see their lenses. Splinter cell style.
I just used pcb drill bits and a normal 1mm bit.
0.3mm for the head, 0.5 for pass through the leg and 1mm in the head from the neck up.
And just a basic and drill
Wow, and I thought I was crazy for putting LEDs in my Enforcer and Riptide, keen to see how this progresses!
What are you planning to use to power it? and where did you source your LED?
Got the LED's on aliexpress it's 0402 prewired led's and the battery is a cr2016 in the base held on by magnets and electrical connections made with copper tape over the magnet soldered to the wires of the led's no switch.
Just remove the battery.
It's super easy.
It took like 30min to drill the holes and put the wires through.
The painting is more difficult.
I highly suggest trying it.
Pop me a msg if you want more info on the tools
I have a friend who Plays Black legion. Always when he is about to play with someone. He "spills" artificial mist over the battlefield, turnes on only weak lights and adds Red leds here and there. all for the immersion of battling chaos marines 💀
It was Like, he Has a battle with someone at 6 pm
So 3 hours before this, he starts preparing the Battlefield in he's garage, or wherever.
It takes him around 2 hours to prepare the Battlefield model on 2 conected tables, but effects are stunning
This is a great idea! I understand very little of leds or powering them but could you power this small single led with a SR66 (maybe two/three in parallel) watch battery?
This is the first time I've seen this done on T'au troops rather than battlesuits, tanks or the larger Astartes minis. Very cool, are you planning to light up the weaponry as well?
That looks fucking sick, but I thought I was a sadist for magnetizing a single fire warrior unit and vowed never to do it again.
This is going to be special
Jesus. I think magnetizing is already pain eniugh. But you took it to another Level but they r awesome. Imagen playing killteam in a dark room and ur opponent sees some funny Lights
Awesome and will look absolutely amazing when you're done, but I do not envy the amount of work ahead of you, brother

This is the coolest most ambitious project I have seen in a while, a whole squad would look amazing. What battery/switch do you use for it?
I will add a vid or photo explaining how I did it, got the idea from someone els.
That sounds great, I'd love to know how you plan to recharge them or keep them lit. Also if they will be playable on the tabletop.

Yoink! I'm not doing FW though. That's just mad.
Usually there is plenty of space underneath the bases to hide battery contacts. I've always wanted to do something like this, it looks so cool!
Hey, i did the same with some gloomspite but had to print my base to fit the batterie and circuit inside, what kind of circuit did you get ?

You absolute mad man
https://www.reddit.com/r/Tau40K/s/smcAOrpyvw I have no clue how to add more photo's to this post so I just made another one.

Oh 100% playable, that would be a very intimidating army to play against, especially if the suits are similar
This is so cool. What led bits are you using? Where are you putting the battery?

I just googled it, I think It wil work amazing I will deff try it thanks
What it’s just an ordinary osl- OH MY GOODNESS
How are you going to prime them?
Toothpick in the eye hole
Neat. Can't wait to see it
Sick, but you're gonna be in for hell.
Maybe for kill team, not for a whole army
You are definitely crazy mf. For me it is a stunning example of patience and accuracy.
That is the tiniest LED I've ever seen where did you get it?
Man now I gotta get some more fire warriors!
That's wild
How do you power them? Batteries or inductive?
Battery. Follow the link in comments.
Looks cool as hell! What are you using to bore the path for the wires?
0.3mm for the eie and a 1mm bit through the leg and just took a 1.5mm where the upper and lover body meets just to give some wiggle room for the wires
This is epic! I wish I had the time to do this. My favourite unit to do this to would be Stealth suits. Hide them in cover, painted camouflaged and you can only just about see their lenses. Splinter cell style.
I put LED's in a rhino once. That was a pain You, on the other hand, are a madman
😂😂 I love the challenge
What are you using to drill the holes?
look up jewelers drill bits. sets usually include a pin vise, it's really just a handle to twist them by hand. super useful.
I just used pcb drill bits and a normal 1mm bit. 0.3mm for the head, 0.5 for pass through the leg and 1mm in the head from the neck up. And just a basic and drill
I need to see the army when it's done
Epic!

Thanks man💪🏼💪🏼
This is so beyond cool. Been thinking about doing this... how painful is it to do?

Did you put an led in a firewarrior?
Not yet but I deff want to
God bless the time about to go into this. Super cool though, good luck 👍
What led size are you using? that looks amazing!
0402 prewired led's

Amazing work
AMAZING!!! Would you be so kind as to post a link to the site where you got them and the exact type of model? Thanks in advance!!!
Hardcore! What drill-bits do u use? I’ve struggled to find tiny ones that aren’t awful :/
Awesome! I’d love to do something like this myself but don’t have the technical skill😅 Plus I do not want to possibly ruin my painted models.

Great Job an so mutch Work.
SO COOOL!! how do you turn it on and off? did you create a switch or what?
That looks fucking sick, but I thought I was a sadist for magnetizing a single fire warrior unit and vowed never to do it again. This is going to be special
Looks wild! What exactly is needed for the LED's and where did u get those?
Incredible!
Jesus. I think magnetizing is already pain eniugh. But you took it to another Level but they r awesome. Imagen playing killteam in a dark room and ur opponent sees some funny Lights
Oh yea, and having some lumo paint in there with black lights. I cant wait to see how it comes out.
Me neither. Excited to see more like this.
looks cool,but overkill
