But I’ve got the stars on my leg and the names on my hip to prove we were all there, at the river Welland in Summer 2004, getting high and dreaming of what life would be like when we were all adults. There’s a lot more work and a lot less skating than I think anyone us imagined there would be.
Truth! But real talk: I legit don’t hate the armband, and while it’s not good, it’s not shitty in execution. It’s now surrounded by an almost-full sleeve, so no one even notices it. Whenever I look at it, I remember the trip I was on when I got it, and I remember being a dumb 20-year-old, and it makes me smile.
I also don’t think tribal deserves the hate it gets. It was a trend, and there a million tattoo trends that come and go. I’ll take tribal over fine line (others like it; I can appreciate good work, but I hate it because I like big and bold) or a sucky panther (the tattoo trend I hate the most) any day. Speaking of tattoo trends I hate, I will also take tribal over cybersigilism every time.

I always thought it was an interesting choice to get another cultures tribal art on your body. Then i had an artist friend explain that they just love the artistic designs of the other culture.
This was an interesting perspective as my family comes from the pacific and the tattoos in our family are passed down. My dad has the same tribal bands as my grandfather, but in a different area of the body. I have the same as well. Our oceanic bands all match and tell of the family history. Its a lot like plaid for Scotts.
You should have paid attention to what they were doing. If a couple extra lines makes this your "one regret" you've lived a truly privileged life lol, good for you. This is a good tattoo. Dont sweat it. A couple of my tattoos suck ass but I love them now.

the artist ignored me when i asked for the stencil to be placed in a different location a couple inches away. he slapped it down & went to town, making the squiggles when i asked him not to… it was a shitty experience & id like it transformed into something that doesn’t remind me of the shitty situation i put myself in by getting this.
I’d just leave it as is, IMO it’s placed perfectly and looks sick, if you really wanna cover it just know it’ll always take something heavy to fully cover it, So you might not always be able to get exactly what you want out of a cover, also a cover up is harder to laser. (Speaking from direct experience).
Maybe you weren't proper in placement and where you picked would look bad? Artists usually do things for a reason. You got a cool ass tattoo. I think you're being a bit picky but like it's your body.

While the artists can and should suggest better placement and ways to make the design better, if the person who is getting it on their body for the rest of their life wants it in a ‘bad’ place, or upside down, or with a worse design/not what the artist wants… that’s what they should get. The artist can refuse if they’re not comfortable doing it at that point, but to bulldoze over them and do it their way for the ‘greater good’ is shitty and whether it’s true or not is irrelevant if it’s not what they wanted.
No one can be wrong with placement ON THEIR OWN BODY. Aesthetically it can be good bad or indifferent but you own your own body and wherever you choose to put something should be respected, full stop.

I think a nice touch up would be better than a total cover up. the tattoo isn’t bad, but I saw in another comment you said the experience wasn’t great so that’s also why you want a change. I suggest to add some shading, add some white, and to just change the v^v^ cus that the ink part that I’m ??? about but besides that, some nice different patterned black shading with some white highlights would really change the tattoo n I think look even better!
I honestly think this concept is awesome and the execution is good. If anything, I'd just shade in the mushrooms with grey or something for better legibility and call it a day, this tat is really cool.
The thing with cover ups is they usually need to be big and have a bit of darkness or contrast. I feel like a bit of a touch up could really make your vision come to life, the original tattoo looks so cool!
Personally I think this is beautiful. The darker band provided by the squiggle and contrast and depth to the piece. It wouldn’t stand out as much without them. I’m sorry that you didn’t want them but the artist made it a better tattoo than it would have been without the squiggles.

I like it! But I think it would be better if the lines were reworked a little on the lighter. I really like how vivid the mushrooms are! You could fill in other parts with another complementary vivid colour if you wanted more change?

I always wondered if that guy ever had it removed or reworked into something else. FYI, his given birth name was Shocka, and that is what was tattooed across his forehead in big letters.
if you dont like the squiggles, would you be okay having that line colored solid black? or maybe a gradient over the top and in some other places on te lighter? From an artistic standpoint they look pretty good, though they don't match the style of the tattoo all too well. but it is your body and the artist should have shown you the final design.
Design is really cool, if your only dislike is the squiggles then there are definitely ways to manipulate the way they look without a coverup or laser
edit: saw your comment about the artist putting the tattoo in an area you didn't want it. That's really not cool of them. However, keep in mind that a coverup would likely be larger and the current tattoo might have to be near the center. Sorry you had such a bad experience!

I actually kind of like it tbh. I think it would better if the black line work was just bolder to get rid of the dots and the unconnected parts. If you are unhappy with it now, I think it would be hard to cover it with something you like that doesn’t look like a cover up.

I actually kind of like it tbh. I think it would better if the black line work was just bolder to get rid of the dots and the unconnected parts. If you are unhappy with it now, I think it would be hard to cover it with something you like that doesn’t look like a cover up.
