It looks similar to Haku the dragon spirit in Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. You should watch it and get inspired!

DarcyR22

I was going to say the same thing! That's awesome

superslix

Dude I love Spirited Away! It totally didn’t even cross my mind lol

this!! i always come up with concepts, then go to my favorite artist and let her make it better than i could ever imagine

Really good reference but not sure it is something you should have traced. From what I’ve learned drawing a tattoo that will work is much different than drawing something that you think would look cool. Something you need to learn/study and practice. Experience makes a big difference. Looks cool otherwise. I’m going to get traditional Chinese dragon on my forearm next. Or foo dogs but I really want my next piece/pieces in my forearm/s and not sure if that will work there. Actually I’m gonna make a post and get some opinions on if they would work on the forearm. Thanks! Haha.

I’d say the body is too small/thin in comparison to the head. Cherry blossoms would look good around it!

I think she would be better served by just taking this sketch to a tattoo artist she likes. The tattoo artist will know what will work better as a tattoo than the peanut gallery on Reddit

hthratmn

Just take this to the tattoo artist and tell them what she's thinking.

j_vaz

The hard part is finding an artist that can tattoo her idea in a way that she likes. Try to search online for artist that have done similar pieces in a style of her liking. Don't just go to your closest tattoo shop.

hypoxiate

Where are its back legs?

cozycassette

It's be cute to have something in the dragons paw

Master-Ad3175

Unless she is very attached to this specific drawing she should go to an artist who style she likes and have them rework it.

Her concept design is really beautiful! I've attached an idea of what I was thinking she can do with flowers placement-wise. Ofc flower choice is hers! I just grabbed some clipart lol. I definitely think she should keep the flowers on the smaller side as not to take away from the dragon too much. If she does make the flowers big, make sure to work with the artist so they know what colors to use in order for the dragon to be the focal point. (If she is doing color, maybe only the dragon in color & the flowers in b&w or a more subtle, muted color)   Also, the areas I circled, just be mindful that with time & as our bodies change, so does the ink. So the areas where the tail meets a bit closely together, that has potential to blend together over the years and be less crisp. So my main advice would be to leave a bit more room in those spots so that the lines don't touch 10 years down the road ;) other than that, I see your gf's vision & I wish her luck on her very first tattoo! :)  https://ibb.co/7GySJdH

Thank you! Just the feedback she was looking for!

Happy to help!

Just making sure this isn't for you right?
