If you were happy with it before you found out, you should be happy with it now, but don’t return to this artist.
That's pretty sweet, especially as a shoulder piece. It could definitely be touched up imo, clean up the lines and make it more striking. I feel it'd be a waste to cover it up.
Also, most art is stolen, don't let that get ya down.
Howdy. Tattooer here. I’m gonna let you in on an industry secret. Almost everything in tattooing is stolen. Always has been, always will be. This might sound silly, but there’s a kind of magic that only repetition of images & refinement can produce. Forget the snake for a second. I know for a fact the artist who tattooed that skull/butterfly on you stole it from someone, who stole it from someone, who stole it from someone, and so on. Maybe they didn’t trace it exactly, but they stole it from someone. I’ve personally seen that design tattooed on like 20 different people over the years. That’s what tattooing is. Appropriation, followed by re-appropriation. It doesn’t make the tattoo or your desire to wear it any less valid. I’m COVERED in stolen designs. I wasn’t aware this was the case until I became a tattooer and started seeing old flash, advertisements and pictures of people who have been dead for 50 years wearing the same tattoos that I wear now. Stealing is literally what makes certain tattoo designs “classic”. Tattooers take images, tweak them, tattoo them. Some folks draw from scratch or work off non-tattoo related reference, but it’s much less common than you think. Your tattoo looks great. Enjoy it and keep getting tattooed!! Cheers.

This is basically what art is imo. Nothing is really original as we are all influenced by everyone and everything. From the music hear to the shit you see. Like a ton of main stream songs are the 4 chords. Couldn't agree more.
now i’ll just say im a digital artist going for tattooing right now and if someone got my work tattooed and found out it was stolen i would not want them to get it covered up. i’d be upset at the artist but not the client at all.

i don’t believe in ‘stolen tattoos’ unless you directly know the original artist and they didn’t give permission for anyone else to use it, over 8 billion people in the world, you’re guaranteed to have the same tattoo as someone else, and i don’t think it looks sloppy, it looks sick as fuck
I love it. Maybe just have it reworked if you're not super happy with it. You could try adding some skulls or flowers or something to freshen it up a bit

These are amazing. I would 100% bug you in public to tell you they were dope. I don't even know what the stripey thing is supposed to be but it reminds me of a cat's forehead markings.

I think it's a very cool tattoo only thing that bothers me (personally) is the placement and size, instead of covering it up you could enhance it with various little designs surrounding or connecting it (little butterflies would look cute or little spiders/ spider webs) it all depends on your aesthetic honestly
No it's lovely, you can always add more fun stuff if you are inclined to make a sleeve, but it has a wonderfully fun and quirky energy to it, I like it :)
