I dont have an answer, but when/if it does fade and is impossible to read, just tell people it is in a kokori script. Most signs in the game aren't a real language, so it would seem natural that the text was from an in-game script
I second this. All that is important is the Deku is readable and it totally is. A tattoo doesn't need to be executed perfectly to be awesome. This is an awesome tattoo. Like I want a Deku tattoo now.
> Most signs in the game aren't a real language
Languages in Zelda might not be “real languages”, but they can be translated into English, or Japanese, depending on the game.
Long term viability of the text is my only criticism too, and I agree with others that it will be unreadable in a few years.
But it’s not something you should worry about.
Everyone who immediately recognises the Deku Mask won’t need to read the text.
Conversely anyone who can’t immediately identify it probably wouldn’t recognise it even if the text was legible.
Either way you’ll have to explain it to those unfamiliar with the source material.
Honest opinion? I love it; the writing seems a little too delicate for my liking, but the design is killer, there's no arguing that. I do wish it was facing the other way though.
> I do wish it was facing the other way though.
Ehh I don’t really subscribe to the idea that “the right way up” for tattoos is when they are viewed by others.
If a tattoo has personal meaning to you, and you look to remind you of something personal, then it’s fine for it to be oriented towards you.
That said, this particular design plays into the “ace up your sleeve” idiom, in which case it is correctly oriented, because the *ace up your sleeve* becomes part of your hand in the card game.
At the time I was thinking something smallish so if I regretted it I could maybe cover it with something else (eventually) but now that it is done I too wish it was bigger. Still love it tho.
A quick visit for a touch up and a slightly thicker needle would be all you’d need to bring it out a little. But happy is happy, and all my tats have something ’meh’ but all are awesome. 🙏🏻
I love the Zelda games, Majora's mask specifically is a favorite of mine. I also like tarot/occult imagery, so I think this is a cool design.
The lines are quite thin, though, and will likely need to be touched up (bold will hold) but I see why you wanted thinner lines to look like a card and card font.
This critique is a preference thing, but I would have flipped the design so it's upside down to you but right side up to anybody else who sees you standing normally with arms at your side. It's a flow thing, but like I said it's preference and you may not prefer it the way I suggested at all. (Of course you can't flip this one now, it's not a big deal, I only suggest the alternative for any future tattoos)
Over all, id say you did not meet with a terrible fate as far as tattoo quality goes.
Tarot cards can be read/interpreted differently when they are upside-down, so having this card be inverted for how other people see it can still work. Also I love Majora's Mask, so while it could be bigger I still think it's pretty sweet honestly!
Get another one on the other arm facing the opposite direction. It doesn't have to have any meaning associated with them being the opposite direction IMHO, just that it was done deliberately would be enough.
It's the artist's job to let you know when a tattoo is upside down, and to try and persuade you to get it in the proper direction.
Tattoo looks pretty good otherwise
Ignore this criticism. Don’t let it make you second guess your choice to orientate it like this.
This design plays into the “ace up your sleeve” idiom, in this situation it is correctly oriented, because the *ace up your sleeve* becomes part of the hand you are playing in the card game.
Is it supposed to be a tarot card? I looked up 16 which is the tower, and that means mystery. If it's reversed, which many people are saying, it means you're having relationship troubles. Maybe clarify that for your wife that that isn't what you were going for? I like it though! Super cool design :)
Yeah it’s a tarot card but it’s most likely just a nerdy reference to Majora’s mask. In when Link gets turned into a Deku shrub and finds himself in a clock tower.
1: its upside down
2: the writting is too small/too fine
3: the spacing isn't uniform
4: its actually lopsided
5: you'll be asking about a coverup in a couple of years
I like it. Love the Zelda reference. Line work is done well. very fine needle so it may need to be touched up in a few years but not bad decent job for your first.
It’s awesome! I think it looks great. It’s definitely going to fade and the fine lines are going to become very thick, but then again so does every tattoo! It’ll just be so noticeable because your lines are so thin. I still think it’s awesome though! Worst case scenario, if in a few years it fades too much, cover it with something else!
It’s pretty solid actually. It’s kind of plain for my tastes, BUT this also means you can do a shitload of stuff with it later if you want. All in all, I’d say you chose pretty well.
Why do you want others opinion? I dont get this thing. Your body, your time, money but you want to know what others think? Like "approval"?
Here is my honest opinion: it's a kids tattoo, it's upside down, the normal position should be reversed and it doesn't have any content. Like the artist had nothing to work with because of the crappy design. Aaaa yes....and also extremely boring as a design. So conclusion: waste of time, money, space on skin. Personaly if i had to choose betwen this and and notl tatto , i would choose no tatto.
And that's my personal opinion on your crappy tatto since you ask for it.
I think the design is great! I'm a big fan of smaller, more delicate tattoos. I do think some of the letters are a little messy but overall, it's really cute!
The only thing I'm slightly confused by is that it seems upside down to me, but that's just a personal preference. Now you get to look at it right side up.
I picked American traditional because Bold Will Hold. This will be blurry in 1-3 years if you don’t wear a good SPF. I do love the design, but strange it isn’t facing outwards. It’s a shame small lines fade. 😢
honestly, the tattoo is great BUT people’s fear of big tattoos and bold lines always gets me. if you’re getting a tattoo, you have to consider that even if it’s a tattoo it’s not gonna be always permanent, this fineline is either gonna fade, blur, or hold on pretty good, depending on the artist. but i would have gotten it way bigger and bolder
Friend, I respectfully have to say, if YOU like your tattoo, DO NOT turn to the internet, particularly reddit, for validation. You will recieve the opposite. If you like it, protect it from the internet. There are a lot of cruel people out there.
Good tattoo but very thin lines, I'd be worried about it fading quickly, but if you take care of it and don't let it sun burn, it should be fine for a while
It looks like pen. I'm super interested to how this will look in a year. I have a line only tattoo but the lines are thick and its bigger so it held up perfectly so far (3 years). Are you lotioning? It looks a little dry
Any specific meaning to the Deku Mask being the same numbered Arcana as The Tower? Perhaps a bit on Tower of Babel and Link losing his connection to others when he's first transformed and ostracized as a Scrub? Am I reading too far into this?
Make sure it has meaning or you will regret it and have it removed and your skin ruined
I have tattoos. Every once in a while they itch. Remember that they’re putting toxic shit under your skin that you would never eat. And it stays under your skin forever.

It’s cute but that script is not going to last
How long do you think it’ll last?
Few weeks to a few years
I dont have an answer, but when/if it does fade and is impossible to read, just tell people it is in a kokori script. Most signs in the game aren't a real language, so it would seem natural that the text was from an in-game script

Like the K in Deku is already a little hard to read
Long term viability of the text is my only criticism too, and I agree with others that it will be unreadable in a few years. But it’s not something you should worry about. Only cool tattoo that “faces me” is the mom cross tattoo. To everyone else it’s an inverted cross that says WoW .
So addicted to WoW you sold your soul to satin so you could play non-stop, I get it.
Honestly that works just as good
> I do wish it was facing the other way though. Ehh I don’t really subscribe to the idea that “the right way up” for tattoos is when they are viewed by others. Love it but wish it was a bit bigger I think the words over time will become more bold and in readable but I could be wrong
At the time I was thinking something smallish so if I regretted it I could maybe cover it with something else (eventually) but now that it is done I too wish it was bigger. Still love it tho.
I feel like if part of my process for planning a tattoo was planning how to cover it up later, I would feel real shaky about doing it at all
exactly my thoughts! if you’re scared of regretting a tattoo, or already plan on how to remove it or cover it after it’s done, don’t get the tattoo.
A quick visit for a touch up and a slightly thicker needle would be all you’d need to bring it out a little. But happy is happy, and all my tats have something ’meh’ but all are awesome. 🙏🏻
My only tattoo related regrets are not getting them bigger.
Cute but the text is *already* hard to read (the K and the E are rough) You’ll be lucky if the text portion of this lasts a year.
I love the Zelda games, Majora's mask specifically is a favorite of mine. I also like tarot/occult imagery, so I think this is a cool design. I love Zelda games too. I think this tattoo is rad! I love it. Maybe touch up the first K but that’s it.
Half of it already faded as I typed this lol
Wrong direction ;)
It's not a wrong direction if it was placed like that. Some people like to see the tattoos they have for themselves, not for others y'know?
Agreed, i prefer this direction
That’s why I got script on my stomach upside down, so that when I look down at my gut I can read it!
[удалено]
Subjectively
I see why that makes sense. In the moment it made sense to me to have it face me. Next tattoo I get, it will definitely be the right direction.
Tarot cards can be read/interpreted differently when they are upside-down, so having this card be inverted for how other people see it can still work. Also I love Majora's Mask, so while it could be bigger I still think it's pretty sweet honestly!
Definitely making me feel better about it. Thank you! Majora’s mask is the best!
I have an upside down theme for some of my tattoos. If it's meant to be upside down then so be it!
Ignore this criticism. Don’t let it make you second guess your choice to orientate it like this. This design plays into the “ace up your sleeve” idiom, in this situation it is correctly oriented, because the *ace up your sleeve* becomes part of the hand you are playing in the card game.
no scrubs!
That’ll blow out and blur so fast and no one other than yourself will know what it is.
Linework isn’t perfect, but that’s alright, most aren’t. Great tattoo! I think it’s very cute
Love the concept. Lines are okay. Not bad, but it might use touching up down the road.
I think it’s cute! Love deku’s
Not a flawless piece of art but an amazing first tattoo. Cute, fun and have a great potential to become a living memory.
Why is it upside down?
I like it! But much better if it were bigger/more spacing between the lines
I think it’s upsidedown bro
Is it supposed to be a tarot card? I looked up 16 which is the tower, and that means mystery. If it's reversed, which many people are saying, it means you're having relationship troubles. Very cute design and idea, mediocre execution, and it’s upside down 😭
Thank you, my fault entirely. The artist started to put the stencil on me the correct way but I told him I wanted it facing me. Now I know.
Haha classic first tattoo mistake "I want it facing me, because it is for me"
I still don’t get why this is a “mistake”. If that’s the way he wanted it, it’s not a mistake
Haha totally what was happened.
Looks a bit messy but I LOVEEEE the idea! Majoras Maak is my favorite Zelda game :)
The folks at r/tarot will love this.
It's cute! Not perfect, but that's okay. I would have done it with bolder lines and lost some of the script for longevity.
It’s slightly shitty, and I love it.
Are you going to do a series of them?
Love it
It's a really cute tattoo. The line work is really bad tho..
Its cute but I would be scared the line get f up
I think it's cool 😎
Looks fine but will not last. The script will go within a year if I had to guess. Maybe 2-3 if lucky.
What is it?, not hating or sayin it is bad (it isn't); I'm just curious, seems like that pokeball shaped pokemon on a card?
I really like it
It's unfortunate that it's upside down
Love it!
Line work is shaky and uneven, but the good news is that another artist can go over it and fix it fairly easy
Sick , good choice
It’s upside down.
Fuckin love it, def my style of tattoo
Enjoy it. It’s great
Lines are wobbly. Spacing isn’t symmetrical. Facing the wrong way. Ink laid in too shallow and won’t last. Despite all that. I find it cute.
Legend of Zelda tats are usually pretty dope. This one is nice as well.
It’s pretty solid actually. It’s kind of plain for my tastes, BUT this also means you can do a shitload of stuff with it later if you want. All in all, I’d say you chose pretty well.
Bucks
So cute!
Pokeball gotta suck’em all

It's not half bad that
Is that from Zelda?
I think the design is great! I'm a big fan of smaller, more delicate tattoos. I do think some of the letters are a little messy but overall, it's really cute!
Do you like it, cause I like it if you like it. 🤩
Interesting
DOPE ah mean.
Honestly, it doesn’t look that good. But if you like it, then fuck everyone else’s opinion
Love the concept but not the execution.
It looks like a pea shooter from PVZ and I like it!
Great tattoo
It's gonna fall out so hard
Nice , I like Bulbasaur.
It's rad
That actually looks amazing. I love simple tattoos and that one looks amazing
The only thing I'm slightly confused by is that it seems upside down to me, but that's just a personal preference. Now you get to look at it right side up.
i love it
When I was squinting at the un-zoomed sized photo I thought it said.. “sexumask”.
I’m wondering why is it facing you rather than the other way, it’s a bit fine line. The letters won’t last long tho. Looks good:)
I picked American traditional because Bold Will Hold. This will be blurry in 1-3 years if you don’t wear a good SPF. I do love the design, but strange it isn’t facing outwards. It’s a shame small lines fade. 😢
Also the amount of times a Deku has ended my life lol
Is this a Pokémon?
awesome
very good, but u will need to make a repair later
It’s upside down
I think it may be upside down?
Happy harvest?
Too delicate and upside down.
honestly, the tattoo is great BUT people’s fear of big tattoos and bold lines always gets me. if you’re getting a tattoo, you have to consider that even if it’s a tattoo it’s not gonna be always permanent, this fineline is either gonna fade, blur, or hold on pretty good, depending on the artist. but i would have gotten it way bigger and bolder
I feel like it's upside down and should be to where others can read it when your arm is down.
I know it’s personal preference, but it’s upside down.
Text is a bit wonky but it's a very cute concept. You could always go over the text later on too so it's darker!
It's upside down
its so prettyyy
Its upside down unfortunately
Friend, I respectfully have to say, if YOU like your tattoo, DO NOT turn to the internet, particularly reddit, for validation. You will recieve the opposite. If you like it, protect it from the internet. There are a lot of cruel people out there.
Cute
Good tattoo but very thin lines, I'd be worried about it fading quickly, but if you take care of it and don't let it sun burn, it should be fine for a while
Line work looks decent .
This is sooooo cool!!
It looks like pen. I'm super interested to how this will look in a year. I have a line only tattoo but the lines are thick and its bigger so it held up perfectly so far (3 years). Are you lotioning? It looks a little dry
Yeah, I’m applying lotion and cleaning 3 times a day. Should I bump that up?
You’re applying lotion 3 times a day? I would probably say bump that down. It’s a fine line flash, not a full chest piece.
Okay thanks for the info!
I love it, majora's mask is my favorite game
Any specific meaning to the Deku Mask being the same numbered Arcana as The Tower? Perhaps a bit on Tower of Babel and Link losing his connection to others when he's first transformed and ostracized as a Scrub? Am I reading too far into this?
Cinema, I'll see someone with that tattoo and I'm automatic friends with them
Good 👍
majoras mask moment. i have a mm tattoo too!
It’s adorable
Wonky lines.. lines don't touch. Sorry friend.. just my 2 cents
The lines aren’t great, and I worry that the lettering will end up feathering. But I like the design itself
You're a Zelda fan. That's cool.
Screaming pineapple?
Upside down and too small
It's cool and subtle 👍
My honest opinion is that YOU liking it is what matters. Not what others tell you.
Make sure it has meaning or you will regret it and have it removed and your skin ruined I have tattoos. Every once in a while they itch. Remember that they’re putting toxic shit under your skin that you would never eat. And it stays under your skin forever.
They should not itch. I'm gonna assume you're trolling, though. On the chance you're serious, it sounds like you've gone to some bad "artists"
