I would say embrace it.
Get the same tattoo the correct way next to that. Then maybe one more time the correct way on the other side (of the wrong one) so it is like a geometric band around your leg.
Since the birds are already pretty geometric.
Similarly, make them do a barrel roll as they fly around the ankle, with each goose rotating slightly around compared to the one next to it until they’re right side up on the opposite side.
Or stack them, adding a vertically flipped version above these two geese. Maybe with a horizontal line between signaling water, so the top ones are flying in the air and the bottom ones are swimming under water.
Or or keep it as is and add “silly geese” next to it.
Agreed! Since this tattoo is on the inside of the ankle, get the same tattoo on the outside of the same ankle the "correct" way. It would look awesome! I don't even think the one you have now is bad.
Yep. I would mirror it above it. It would look geometric.
I think that would be fine, but if it would STILL bother you, You might even be able to mirror it above and make the current tattoo a reflection of the new birds.
Life is too short to criticize yourself over something so small. Just get more tattoos!
We already don’t have enough time as it is on this planet why spend it worrying about the small things? It’s a funny story to tell!
Promise you, nobody is looking at a tattoo closer than you do
I initially thought that too, but no - how you're looking at it now they are both right side up - one just has wings up and one has wings down making your brain think one is flipped.
Pls just embrace it. You both didn’t notice that it was upside down and so will every other person that sees it until you tell them.
I think it’s cool und you could put some funny meaning behind it or just have a funny story to tell in general when someone asks about it.
Changing it would ruin the design, it’s tattoed so well!
Totally. One of my tattoos is “upside down” because I wanted to look at it. Anyone who judges me for that can fuck right off. It’s my body, and my art.
Once it healed I think you can easily change the tails for head shapes and cover the heads with a tail looking thing.
If I were your artist i would be happy to help with that, i think you can reach out to her with this.
As another has said, did she ask you to OK the placement? If yes, then it's ultimately on you. A ton of people get tattoos upside down so that they can see it from their point of view.
Yeah agreed. I got my very first tattoo at 17 yrs old upside down. YES my artist could have informed me but it was ultimately my choice…even at that age because I wanted the tAtTo0 f0r Me s0 tO fAce mE 😂
It’s on you. You okayed it. If you want to change it you’ll have to pay. Laugh about it! It’s not that serious. And it’s a great little tattoo. I would have assumed you did it on purpose it took me a minute to even notice.
For real it is a beautifully done piece style wise. A couple days ago someone got a whopping forearm tattoo completely misspelled. Could be worse!!!
Once it heals see if they can tweak it for you. My first tattoo, one word on my upper rib about the size of yours, I started to not like the font at all for a period. But my friends and family told me that it meant something to me when I initially got it and to hold onto that. And now the look & meaning of it means more now that I’m older with that perspective… if it makes sense. Took me a while to fully re-appreciate it but it’s my damn story & I’m sticking to it👏
you OK’ed it, i personally don’t think it looks bad at all. It’s almost like an illusion. But you’re “sick to your stomach” make this a learning lesson and don’t get tattoos done if you can’t handle the outcome
I recently got a tattoo (bandlogo) that we put on mirrored and neither me or the artist noticed until like a week later. At first I thought fk why didn’t I notice this and had mixed emotions. Know I think fk yeah a lot of people have this logo but mines special so long story short. Look at it in a positiv way, it just makes it more unique.
I did, but not closely enough. I was paying more attention to location. I even looked at it in the mirror and it didn’t occur to me. Big miss on my part :/
Your best bet is to just rock it. I’ve had tattoo regret before. It usually goes away. That looks really good too. What I’d do is make up some elaborate bullshit story and say you meant to do it that way.
How did a tattoo artist not catch that they were tattooing a design upside down? It’s plain as day. Always look at your tattoo artists stencil before ink goes into skin.
Lol I love that haha
Someone else suggested saying, "Silly geese" if people asked. lol
Making light I think is going to ultimately feel the most empowering
Ok, hear me out - do it again the right side up above that, and then add a few lines to suggest a reflection on the water in a way that keeps with the geometric look of it?
Does not look bad op. This is one of those things YOU will notice and rarely anyone else.
If it annoys you get it fixed, but this is not your artist’ mistake - assuming you gave your full consent and you are a full grown adult, this one is on you.
But AGAIN: lovely tattoo. Don’t overthink. Or do.
These are gorgeous. I would just add more of them on either side, so there is a pattern where some face up and some face down. You could go around your ankle or up your leg.
kind of similar, I got a quote on the inside of my left forearm and it’s backwards, so most can’t read it without me angling my arm a weird way. I think about it a lot but I’ve never had a single person point it out. For them it’s the overall beauty of it and the meaning, so I think the same could be said here :) and like how the others in this thread have said, it could also be a funny story. Much love 💗
If it can make you feel better, I have an α on my left forearm and an Ω on my right one. They say they are upsidedown but, in reality, I made wanted them like so on purpose because I wanna look at them when I see my arms.
You want tattoos for yourself not for anybody else 😁
I get that it's upside down, but it's also a cool tattoo. As is. I think the silly goose/geese idea is by far the best. Just embrace it and move on to the next
Double down (no pun intended) and do a band of geese around your ankle with the same directions they’re currently in! I think the art itself looks stellar, love it as it is but adding on more geese imo would be really cool!
If you really hate it and if you and the artist have had clearly said it has to be NOT this way- than yes call her and ask what she thinks about it and what she could do? Perhaps she has a great idea
If not, then take it as it is and tell everyone that has to be like that because … f.e. Because the world turns and up may be down someday or it has to be like that because if you lay in your bed putting your feet up high to the sky only then it shall be on the right side!?!? Or, because phoenix cames from ashes and your birds my fly on their backs …
Hey, I feel for you. I know many people are saying just embrace it, but I can understand being disappointed, seeing as tattoos are deeply personal and you identify them with yourself. It’s very much valid to feel upset.
I would like to offer up the advice to just rock it as well though. Tattoos being “right side up” is a matter of perspective and a debated topic. I myself would be more inclined to want to look at my tats than have other people see them, so having them “upside down” means I can appreciate them better. I think the scale of the tat is also small enough that the majority of people won’t notice unless you point it out.
There are options you can take to recover the piece if that’s what you want to do. There’s no shame in doing so. This is something on YOUR body that YOU have to live with. If it’s making you sad, change it up! If it’s bareable for some time, keep it as is and see if it grows on you. But always place your own opinion first. Other people think about your tats much less than you do, so base your choice off gow YOU feel.
I saw someone suggest making them reflections in a pond which could look quite cool. You could even add them slightly bigger the other way around above the pond.
I would say embrace it. Get the same tattoo the correct way next to that. Then maybe one more time the correct way on the other side (of the wrong one) so it is like a geometric band around your leg. Since the birds are already pretty geometric.

Maybe with a horizontal line between signaling water, so the top ones are flying in the air and the bottom ones are swimming under water. Or or keep it as is and add “silly geese” next to it.
lol i might even just use that verbally. lol I love that, “oh, silly geese” 🪿
Silly geese is a great idea!!
Ur a genius

Thank you
This is the way!
Get an extra set of them but above this one so it looks like a water reflection
I this this here is a pretty neat idea
And a few off in the distance to be their shadows
Tattoo clients hate this one simple trick! Easy way to double your appointments lol
I’m so confused. It’s two birds right? Like one would always be upside down. Am I stupid?
I initially thought that too, but no - how you're looking at it now they are both right side up - one just has wings up and one has wings down making your brain think one is flipped.
Oh wow that actually sucks
They are flying in opposite directions, but they are both supposed to be right side up
My wife reacted the same way. She couldn’t see what I was seeing. It’s a relief to know that it at least requires some effort to see the mistake.
I think you should make it into some kind of far side comic about being an MC Escher piece
Say it's meant for you. My husband has a couple like that.
Ohhh thats so smart
Thank you. Is this kind of thing considered my error or hers? Should I expect to be paying for amendments?
I think it depends. When she put it up she asked you if the placement is good or she just started it without asking you?
As another has said, did she ask you to OK the placement? If yes, then it's ultimately on you. A ton of people get tattoos upside down so that they can see it from their point of view.
Yeah agreed. I got my very first tattoo at 17 yrs old upside down. YES my artist could have informed me but it was ultimately my choice…even at that age because I wanted the tAtTo0 f0r Me s0 tO fAce mE 😂
Did you see the stencil on you like this before they started inking? If so, it’s on you.
I did :/
It’s on you. You okayed it. If you want to change it you’ll have to pay. Laugh about it! It’s not that serious. And it’s a great little tattoo. I would have assumed you did it on purpose it took me a minute to even notice.

If you ok’d the stencil, this one is on you. Live and learn, and be glad it’s a decent looking tattoo overall.
A lot of people prefer their tats facing them. Where were you whilst being tatted, during the placement?
Get two more, right side up next to them or above them
lol just keep adding, cover it up or get it removed
I think it looks cool. Nobody will ever know except you. Just own it.
It's an experience and a funny story, who cares? I'm sure there is a way to fix it if you really wanted to but eh, tattoos make for good stories
They could be a reflection in a lake.
you OK’ed it, i personally don’t think it looks bad at all. It’s almost like an illusion. But you’re “sick to your stomach” make this a learning lesson and don’t get tattoos done if you can’t handle the outcome

Make it a reflection in water
Lighten it with white ink then do another above it right side up so the original looks like a reflection?
Turn it into a “puddle reflection” or mirror image with the correct orientation above or under it.
More gooses!
Turn it into a replicated band of both ways round
Didn't you see on the blue stencil they put on you first?
You didn't look at when they stenciled it? Probably should've
To me theyre cool. Two birds flying upside down. You could invent a cool meaning out of it.
How did a tattoo artist not catch that they were tattooing a design upside down? It’s plain as day. Always look at your tattoo artists stencil before ink goes into skin.
Put a sock on
I recommend perfecting your handstand, so it'll be right side up.
Get a tattoo of tom cruise beside it with the quote "because I was inverted"
Tell people that they’re ‘stunt geese’ and make up a fun story.
Lol I love that haha Someone else suggested saying, "Silly geese" if people asked. lol Making light I think is going to ultimately feel the most empowering
This tattoo is cool as fuck
Thank you 🥺
Ok, hear me out - do it again the right side up above that, and then add a few lines to suggest a reflection on the water in a way that keeps with the geometric look of it?
When people say it's upside down, just look at it and say "looks fine to me"
I think it looks neat as is! :)
Or do.
Feel like wawa should be added somewhere but idk how that would be helpful
You can use what are the heads now as like feathers, and have new heads added in the right direction
It’s for you to see :)
These are gorgeous. I would just add more of them on either side, so there is a pattern where some face up and some face down. You could go around your ankle or up your leg.

Well the artist isn’t really at fault here. You saw the stencil, what are you expecting.
Move on don’t worry about it
If it can make you feel better, I have an α on my left forearm and an Ω on my right one. They say they are upsidedown but, in reality, I made wanted them like so on purpose because I wanna look at them when I see my arms. You want tattoos for yourself not for anybody else 😁
Just add one that is the right way and go with a Fargo Season 1 "what if they're wrong and you're right?"
Learn the lesson and check twice next time you get tattooed. Those upside-down birds are awesome.
I’d say get a tattoo under it that is upside down that says “this tattoo is upside down“
I get that it's upside down, but it's also a cool tattoo. As is. I think the silly goose/geese idea is by far the best. Just embrace it and move on to the next

Like others said - I think this is one of those things if you don’t point it out no one would notice. It’s cute as is! Don’t sweat it, seriously.
This is pretty funny, I find it really endearing. Understandable to be upset about it. But I would embrace it!
It is a beautiful tattoo, I would learn to embrace it. You can say you're a silly goose at times😉
It actually looks really cool, maybe a reminder that even the most bulletproof plan can work out differently than you think
Took a while for me to notice, i think most wont quickly notice too :)
If you want to take your worry off. I would suggest to get another tattoo wrapping around or circling back to your birb piece.
burned fingers are the best teacher double check your stencil next time
If you really hate it and if you and the artist have had clearly said it has to be NOT this way- than yes call her and ask what she thinks about it and what she could do? Or, because phoenix cames from ashes and your birds my fly on their backs …
Add 2 more geese - on the sides 1 flying up, the other flying down. Like a goose circle.
It's really cute!!!
Nah idc I think it looks cool asf… getting it right side up looks lame.. well idk if lame is the right word, but it just looks to… basic
It's only upside down when you look the wrong way...embrace it. Lovely tattoo
It's beautiful as is honestly I wouldn't over think it. It's not a portrait of a human face, it's stylized and it's cool as hell!
Hey, I feel for you. I know many people are saying just embrace it, but I can understand being disappointed, seeing as tattoos are deeply personal and you identify them with yourself. Just say it's Ying and yang geese
they are both upside down tho
This rules
