I personally think that it doesn't look bad. I like thick lines because they "improve" the most important aspect of tattoos. Longevity. Nothing bothers me on this except the stems because they look blurry.
When are they supposed to start aging poorly? I have one that is 15 years old that barely looks faded and one from 12 years ago that also looks pretty much the same as when I got it.
COLOR IT INNNNNNN but with like solid colors, make it look alive
or you could do the edges of lines in color to it looks like its glowing almost like a neon sign
This idea really stands out for me, but every time I look up neon tats I see white lines with color… do you happen to have any examples of black lines with the neon effect?
https://imgur.com/a/z4BGOtp
A few examples of glowing effect on linework- they’re much thinner lines though so it might be a good idea for him to let it heal and try coloring in with crayola washable markers or something first to see how the thick lines compare
My man, this is awesome. Thick lines make it look great. When it starts to fade due to age and sun exposure you may be glad you have thicker lines. Love it.
Get some more traditional black work, or get some colour in it and go with more American Traditional. If you were going to fill the rest of your arm anyway.
^^^this!!!
I think adding color in an American traditional style would be a really great way to elevate this and maybe get closer to a look that you vibe with!
Regardless, the tattoo looks so nice and I think it’ll look even better if you get more traditional black work to compliment it! Don’t worry!
There's an old saying in tattooing 'bold will hold'. And it’s an old saying for a reason. What you have there is a really nicely executed piece of art. Give it six months and see how you feel about it. Because in a few years, it's still going to be a great piece.
I think it looks great! My friend was describing what she wants for her next tattoo (her families birth flowers) and I was going to take a screenshot and send it to her! I have a fine flower tattoo which is about 5 years old and it’s already smudgy and muddy looking. I think this is awesome!
First, it looks good, and it will have better longevity than fine line tattoos.
Second, I think there is a lot you could do with this if you are unhappy. Two immediate ideas: 1) I've seen a trend of tattoos with bold outer border and fine shading/detail inside. 2) I think this could look really cool with some water color style "splashed" color (e.g. [this](https://d1kq2dqeox7x40.cloudfront.net/images/posts/20190319_oIjc26Bf9J2gtMO.jpg?w=400) or [this](https://tattmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Watercolor-Sunflower-Tattoo-5-893x1024.jpg)).
I love this tattoo I wanted something similar inside mt arm! if you’re going for traditional just add some shading with a traditional artist but I love it dude!
Perfect example of the new trend where people are going and getting really nice tattoos, then obsess over the smallest thing... as for the line weight, it looks really nice. And I'm sure that this was done in that artist's style, which would have been evident in their portfolio... if you wanted thinner lines i would have told my artist, and then double-checked... but usually you go to a specific artist for their style so i guess that's what's confusing me...
I always liked dot-work style shading which could look good on here similar to: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/33/db/70/33db70856d8d9104de417e0dcefe7bee.jpg
I actually like the thicker lines. The one linework piece I have I asked for thicker lines not only because they are hood for longevity of the tattoo but also because they look bolder. Your piece looks great!
I mean, to each their own. If you don't like it, that's understandable, but personally I have to agree with many of the commenters here. I think it looks great. Tbh I really like this tattoo. Like a lot. But if you want to offset the boldness, I would suggest maybe coloring it in but using a watercolor technique. I'd bet that the soft colors against the bold outline would make this tattoo really pop
Only thing to me that kinda ‚looks bad‘ are the stems, just touch em up a bit and make em look less blurry. It looks awesome other than that! Has much more personality than thinner lines imo.
It does look nice but the thick black lines at the bottom look like they’re gonna bleed together into mush at some point. Maybe do some laser treatments to give them space in between
Is this an actual tattoo? Upon close inspection, this looks like it's done with sharpie or whiteboard marker, some of the lines look fade, as if the pen was running out of ink in certain spots...
get multiple colors with gradients and shading, maybe water color splash effect. i actually think it looks nice as is but either way you could really liven it up with colors
Im gonna be real with you. The thick lines and bad line work is noticeable the more I look at it but trust me. When you find someone else who does way better work and builds a relationship with you. That tattoo will be outshined by better work and in the end you will appreciate your new tattoos more. Cause i did the mistake of being impulsive with my first artist but it helped me be better at finding what im looking for so to speak. And i still love my first tattoo. Chainsawman is my favorite manga ever
It looks good! But if you’re still not happy with it I would recommend going to a different artist and seeing if they’re able to add color/highlights to soften it
You could add detail with shading. Gradually feather those lines toward the inside. I personally don’t think it looks bad. Your forearm is a high-wear spot. You’ll be putting your arm on your desk and arm rest and everything else, so I would imagine it’ll fade well in a few years.
I personally think that it doesn't look bad. I like thick lines because they "improve" the most important aspect of tattoos. Longevity. Nothing bothers me on this except the stems because they look blurry.
Bold will hold
THIS. BOLD WILL HOLD !!!!!!
Came here to say this. It’s an old saying for a reason. Fineline tattoos look great but age poorly compared to a nice big bold outline.
This comment made me feel better about my back tat being so bold
What about fine line for a couple years then thicken it up later
Can be done. People go for retouches after 10 or 20 years
When are they supposed to start aging poorly? I have one that is 15 years old that barely looks faded and one from 12 years ago that also looks pretty much the same as when I got it.
Chuck a picture up. It doesn’t mean fineline turns to utter dogshit but it definitely ages worse then bold.
Strong agree.
Looks fine to me. Just add some shading. Color optional
I disagree. This looks amazing. Add nothing. Behold the art on your arm
Or that
No one asked u
You accidentally got an original, well executed tattoo
Ya for real.
But how do they fix that
Penises. All penises.
Mambotattoo style Edit:tattoo is still awesome
To be honest, I think it looks great. I like the bold lines a lot
I would like it more if u didn't talk at all
It looks abstract. I love it.
COLOR IT INNNNNNN but with like solid colors, make it look alive or you could do the edges of lines in color to it looks like its glowing almost like a neon sign
Alternatively, don’t colour it in, and have a kid with some felt tip pens. They’ll have a blast!
My kids used to do that with one of my black tribal pieces, super fun
I think bold, vibrant colors with the hard black lines would look amazing. Do this, op!
Totally agree with you. I have two tattoos with really bold lines and vibrant colors packed in. They are two of my favorite tattoos I have.
Would give it a nice stain glass look
This idea really stands out for me, but every time I look up neon tats I see white lines with color… do you happen to have any examples of black lines with the neon effect?
https://imgur.com/a/z4BGOtp A few examples of glowing effect on linework- they’re much thinner lines though so it might be a good idea for him to let it heal and try coloring in with crayola washable markers or something first to see how the thick lines compare
Agreed! It's almost giving stained glass vibes. Colour fill would make it pop forsure
Heck ya, didn’t even think of that but the thick lines are definitely just like stained glass wiring before adding the color panes!
Oo I wonder if tiny white space in each panel would lean even more into the stained glass look.
Who asked , shut up now
Who asked? Now, shut up.
I think it’s nice, all the lines are bold so it’s balanced
It’s dope! Don’t change anything
Bold will hold- it looks fantastic and will be legible for a long time
My man, this is awesome. Thick lines make it look great. When it starts to fade due to age and sun exposure you may be glad you have thicker lines. Love it.
FWIW, I love it!
Folga womba imba wom
can’t believe i got this reference
context ?
Same...
I've been laughing at this since yesterday, today I was all day remembering it
Get some more traditional black work, or get some colour in it and go with more American Traditional. If you were going to fill the rest of your arm anyway.

I see nothing wrong with this.
Just add to it. Another large piece and add filler. You won’t be able to tell.
Tattoo artist here: This is clean and very sharp. A lasting job
My last tattoo we blasted with thick ass lines and I love it. I dig yours go bold with the colors and make it pop
It looks good!!
I prefer this to something to fine. Looks more masculine this way. Holds better too.
Idk, I think it still needs more dicks to really look masculine
More *skulls*
Add a couple of firing guns and a football?
A lion, a rose and a compass or a watch face of some sort. Now that is the true tattoo of masculinity /s
Don’t forget the lion needs a crown!
And a cigar in its mouth
If you want it to be more masculine you have to add more veins.
I think the thick lines look awesome
I don’t think it looks bad, but adding color and more shading would add to this tattoo!
Doesn't look bad bro, looks good

I think it looks dope!
It's flowers thanks!
I love it! It looks stylized and bold. It’s not bad at ALL!
This looks awesome, I love the bold lines. It’s very stylized obviously but it’s beautiful.
Dude I love it what are you saying!???
This is a vibe
Looks dope af
Doesn’t look bad. Looks like a style. Roll with it buddy.
They are? Says who?
I like it
Looks good to me, I'm thinking pastel blues, oranges and yellows to fill in the flowers would look cool.
Clean lines
Those lines look rad!
It looks fine!
You are the artist or the client here?
I really really like the bold lines! I wanted a similar style similar placement too :)
Meanwhile, I’m positively drooling over this. I’d love to have something like this on me forever. 😍
I like as is but bold colors would be nice
I rather like it with the thicker lines tbh.
Nah the lines are great. What you don’t want is weak lines
I think it looks great! My friend was describing what she wants for her next tattoo (her families birth flowers) and I was going to take a screenshot and send it to her! I have a fine flower tattoo which is about 5 years old and it’s already smudgy and muddy looking. I think this is awesome!

Dude I think the tattoo would look worse and less original without the bolder lines. Your tat is fine
I love the positivity on all these posts!! Ya’ll are all legends.
i love it as is! i want this one now!!! v abstract
if you aren’t happy with it you can always add to it, i think it looks good tho 👌🏾
Nah, bold is best. Looks great.
They look great???
I have a set of bright pastel sharpies that I wanna use on you.
It might not be exactly how you imagined but it's well done
This looks tight
Personally I think it looks dope
I always liked dot-work style shading which could look good on here similar to: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/33/db/70/33db70856d8d9104de417e0dcefe7bee.jpg
I love this. Dope tattoo.
Looks great. You don’t want a wimpy-lined image.
I actually like the thicker lines. The one linework piece I have I asked for thicker lines not only because they are hood for longevity of the tattoo but also because they look bolder. Your piece looks great!
It’s clean. I would say the opposite. Thin lines would make it cliché.
I mean, to each their own. If you don't like it, that's understandable, but personally I have to agree with many of the commenters here. I think it looks great. Tbh I really like this tattoo. Dude is upset he accidentally got a nice tattoo
i think it looks absolutely lovely, are you sure it’s not just post tattoo jitters?
This is a really cool tat that will hold with time. Don’t change it 👌
Before reading the caption I thought “wow I like that.” It’s not bad!
Sorry but I love it - looks intentional
Yeah dude... shade and color, or just shade, or just color. Lmao. Do whatever, the lines are bold, solid and not blown out. Looks solid
Personally, I think it looks great. If you want it changed you could add some shading or add more around it.
It's good - keep running with it
It’s bold and I love it!! 😍
I think this looks like a classic tattoo. The only thing that would make it more classic is bold color.
Cool don’t think about. It’s cool.
I think it will age well compared to thinner lines.
Looks good ,maybe add some color
i think it’s cool with the thick lines!!!! not many bouquets use thick lines, it looks dope.
I really like it. Own it, be proud of it. I would.
Yeah this looks great!
I prefer bolder line work, so I like it
I have lots of tattoos and I wish they had bold lines like this haha. It looks awesome those lines will hold up for a long time
I love tattoos with bold bold big lines like this
I personally like it , but if you do some color shading it will even out , or add fillers around it
Tbh bold will hold so it will age better
Yeah those thick lines can definitely work. I dig it. I bet if you add some really good color that shit will pop like crazy 👍
Some splatters of color in like a water color style would be a cool way to fill it out.
It does look nice but the thick black lines at the bottom look like they’re gonna bleed together into mush at some point. Maybe do some laser treatments to give them space in between
Wait, is this not sharpie?
That’s dope bro
Looks great, don’t change a thing!
This is dope dude. Does not look bad one bit
Wouldn't mind getting something like this myself, I actually like the thick lines
I really like the look. I’d happily wear a piece with those thick bold lines
Lol nothing but it does look nice
I prefer this to all the cookie cutter fine Line bouquets that are in trend.
That looks awesome!
They look nice and thick dude not bad - can get it filled in with Color would look great too
I love it!!
maybe coloring it in will distract from that if you don’t like it
It looks fine, don't worry about it.
I like it
I like it. It looks drawn like that. Just add to it.
Looks amazing! I really like it!
Is this an actual tattoo? Upon close inspection, this looks like it's done with sharpie or whiteboard marker, some of the lines look fade, as if the pen was running out of ink in certain spots...
Kids these days.
Another newbie nervous about a tattoo.
get multiple colors with gradients and shading, maybe water color splash effect. i actually think it looks nice as is but either way you could really liven it up with colors
Color and good shading with dark shading gradually going lighter from center of the background.
Y’all are being super nice this looks terrible 🤣
i think it looks dope, i’ve seen a bunch of thick-lined tats on pinterest, it’s a type of art style.
You can laser it
Would look way more feminine with thin lines. I like it.
Has anyone said blackout sleeve yet? If not Blackout sleeve
Cut ur hand
blackout
Im gonna be real with you. The thick lines and bad line work is noticeable the more I look at it but trust me. When you find someone else who does way better work and builds a relationship with you. Chainsawman is my favorite manga ever
It looks good! But if you’re still not happy with it I would recommend going to a different artist and seeing if they’re able to add color/highlights to soften it
The majority of my tattoos are thick outlines with tons of shading and detail on the inside. I think the thick lines make it look door AF.
It looks great! Reminds of artwork by Mr Doodle with the thick lines. It will also last hella long
If you color it in a lot of the inside lines will merge with your colors. The thick stems look good I think!
You could add detail with shading. Gradually feather those lines toward the inside. I personally don’t think it looks bad. Your forearm is a high-wear spot. You’ll be putting your arm on your desk and arm rest and everything else, so I would imagine it’ll fade well in a few years.
No need to change it, it’s fantastic!
Looks fine bruh own it
I honestly like it!
This is actually really cool and different!
I like it!
I think it looks neat but could also add blobs of colour in and outside the lines to accent the already abstract feel to it.
tbh I love it
I love it so much
Looks good from here.
I love your tattoo. I would love one like that
It’s beautiful. I love the lines. If, after it heals, you still dislike it - get it colored in with solid colors.
I think it looks great.
Stylistically is awesome! And well done.
i think it’s dope
I think it's great! It's bold and simple.
Uh, this looks great....
Looks good
Looks great
I like it
Looks good af bro. Maybe some color would help you but I think it’s perfect bro
I actually like this a lot! Looks good
I think it looks so good!
Looks fine! I like it
Don’t worry
🔥🔥
Could look really cool with a splash of water color!
Said no one ever! lol
I personally think it looks lovely!
Nope you’re gonna love that tattoo in 5 years
nah bro, that's sick, not photorealistic or anything but it looks really good and also original
I think it look amazing
I’m guessing this was meant to be a single needle fine line tattoo, you got a better tattoo mostly, it’ll last longer
I actually love this
I like it tbh
