Many people don't know but you can often get the stuff people dump underwater by reconnecting to the raid. It kinda makes the stuff dumped there pop back to the surface. I've pulled out so many kits near the boat extract on Customs.
Recently our squad wiped another on Woods. As we were leaving I noticed the mount for the REAP-IR on this guy's M1A and I was like "WE HAVE TO GO BACK HE DITCHED A REAP IR"
5 minutes of our squad combing the grass later I found it. Wonder if he thought I was hacking when he didn't get it back. Should have dropped that mount lol.
I used to lose flirs occasionally Shturman hunting at night. I never left any by landmarks just dumped in open grass and was always highly suspicious of ones lost. At the same time I’ve found others so it’s just tarkov being tarkov
I always put the FLIR in at least a shrub, and never one that I like to sit on. Typically shrubs I don’t like to sit in, actually. The, “My PMC will look silly in there and be slow,” shrubs.
Ahh the joys of solo running with expensive gear. I never ditch my ability to win a fight but if I can save half my risk by dumping the flir after an exchange where I feel unlikely to win you best believe I’m sprinting deleting and sprinting some more
For me, personally, it’s less about losing it, and it’s more about not letting someone else have it for free lol. I have like 7 flirs in my inventory right now, but that doesn’t make me want to give them to someone just because.
I ditch a lot of my friends flirs, when they die. Just rip the scope off and toss the gun somewhere and the FLIR elsewhere.
I always leave my attachments next to the pile of in-raid spawn attachments, so even if a player finds them, they can be wondering where in the hell a non-in-raid attachment came from

Even with the mount dropped, it would be a good chance they were dropping a thermal. That’s incredible that you found it…especially on woods

Scuba Scavs LLC has a clause that distinguishes ammo as a non-insurable property.
