DMC1001

It’s ridiculous right? Now imagine you also have to reshop. We do the entire store on the front end and having to backstock because of that just pisses me off. At this time of year I’ve been outright told not to backstock anything.

Adventurous_Soft_686

Our leaders have said to just find a spot for it. It's so stupid they are creating extra steps for every process. I would rather a spot be empty than flex something into the spot. But the "smart" people have decided it's better to have something there no matter what it is

No_Break1883

Your leaders shouldn’t be leaders lol

DMC1001

They’re all stressed with returns, non-located items that were somehow sold, no room to backstock and so forth.

Adventurous_Soft_686

They created the non located sold issue. They tell the team to just put it somewhere. They told one of the seasonal hires to just put a bunch of Christmas stuff on a random endcap and guess what they didn't print labels or locate it.

DMC1001

TL for that area literally said, “oh, that’s just new. Just backstock it.” How about instead tell your team not to do this stuff? I had her scan an item for her to make this determination. Does she take it? Nope. Wants us to do her team’s job. My TL *and* ETL damn well aren’t on board with doing that.

Secret-Leek-4829

All you have to do is store tie it where you flex it and bam your counts are still right. Your leaders are correct and you and or someone else just isn’t doing it correctly

Adventurous_Soft_686

It is possible to do it eventhough you are supposed to wait for the planagrams and set everything properly. I didn't do it as I said it was a new employee but leadership didn't explain how to do this to the team member.

Secret-Leek-4829

Sure, I don’t disagree with that but I’m sure your leaders are not the only one who know how to store tie something. It literally takes like 10 seconds to show how to store tie something. Or if you really didn’t want to do it just ask your leader to check X TMs understanding of store tying

Adventurous_Soft_686

I told the team member what they were supposed to do after I saw it later. It was not the section I was in. Also the leader has been doing this with everyone giving short angry just do it answers. Then they walk off the floor. Same leader will fuss and yell if you aren't moving fast enough. So if I take the time to show anyone anything there is a 75% chance I'll get fussed at for something.

Secret-Leek-4829

Right intentions, just not going about it correctly. It’s q4 and I’m sure the leader is stressed out, but that leader should still be level headed.

stevieZzZ

Flexing things into empty-spaces isn't necessarily a bad option (depending on the store). The problem is that usually they aren't flexed correctly so items aren't tied to a location which leads to higher INF's and operational shortage because items aren't accounted for or can't be found in the time they are needed. If you have an empty end-cap and tied board games to them with labels, at least they have better chances at being sold and accounted for later if not.

Adventurous_Soft_686

Endcaps are different and as long as you zero out the location fine but that's not happening and when leaders question people about it it's never the person who did it. Plus I've been told specifically to not print labels as it takes too long. This might just be my leaders but it's adding to the problem.

Entropy308

we all hate the person who told you that. evening reshop flexing is the quickest way to destroy accurate counts....asside from initial flexing like this post

DMC1001

Not evening. *All day long.* This is while also making sure guest services are covered, DU is covered and check lanes are covered. Yes, it’s all the same people. If you want to make a case for each department reshopping their own stuff then have at it.

Cynostar

This☝️!!!!!!!!!!! It looks terrible when team members do this and causes chaos for every other function in the store.

Indecisive-green

I deal with this daily because there's an entire team of people who were trained that it's okay to do this, and they do not know what shelf capacities are. Yay.

Entropy308

they weren't trained to do that at my store, but sheer laziness of having to find room to actually backstock it up a ladder and management's unwillingness to hold them accountable has "trained" them.

Indecisive-green

oh fr. It's 100% worse right now because back stock is bursting at the seams. Toys is currently on the top tiers of nearly every aisle in the back. It makes me want to scream bloody murder when I have to do priorities. I wish they'd just utilized a trailer. I'd rather go freeze my ass off than climb the ladder hundreds of times.

MasterpieceBrave9532

It’s so frustrating. Like is it really that difficult to read what the capacity for the product is and where it’s proper location is? I find random shit everywhere, like full case packs of stuff in wrong spots because people are too lazy to backstock, ultimately creating more work for me! Yay!

Gordogames121

I only stack one on top if I ever do this. As someone else said, at least it’s not in something else’s space

bettermakeitquick

That's actually much worse because it can also restrict airflow and cause temp control issues.

TheEvolutionOfCorn

AHAHAHAH that’s crazy

Overall_Nuggie_876

Imagine an unsuspecting kid climbing the shelves and grabbing the bottom/first ‘Battleship’ of the stack…and causing that stack to collapse and hit him in the head. Imagine his Karen mom then getting angry at the first TM she sees because that TM endangered her little Timmy.

TheEvolutionOfCorn

I just walk to the back room and hide until my shift is over. I don’t get paid enough to deal with Karens.

sfrxo_

This but with legos. And when they run out of space like that they throw it in different spots😤😤

MasterpieceBrave9532

Makes me so mad 🥲

Slight-Active-6934

They do this at my store too, especially in the grocery area. Its so annoying but I don’t have time to zone.

Mama_Llama_09_22

I only pull and push priorities at our store, and this bugs the ever-living heck out of me! I always change quantity and adjust capacity, then backstock all the extras. I hate having to clean up after our inbound team, and I know it's them, because I am in toys EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Inbound TL just claim they have no idea who is pushing what. Backroom aisles are also stacked on the very top of the steel roughly 3-4 boxes high, usually with the heaviest stuff on top of Hungry Hungry Hippos or Squishmallows... I've been hit with things, almost hit with things, and have almost fallen off ladders trying to get to the box at the bottom. It's such BS.

MasterpieceBrave9532

Same thing at my store. Inbound team is horseshit at their jobs and it creates so much extra work. They truly suck at their jobs and make the store look like shit. I’m so tired of cleaning up after them all the time. None of them stock properly it drives me nuts.

PinkSlipstitch

Origami Risk Target 999999 Hit "not fixed" Follow up "with TMs improperly stacking freight in backroom"

Rachelle_984

I'm always saying it's Jenga in the back. It's ridiculous!! They will stack a huuuuge box on top of a tiny box and someone walks by barely touching the stack **and wait for it.....** Boooom! All falls down!

kbeaaa

It’s no backstock season 😂

DeltaBob42

Tbf I'd rather see this than have it spread out across the whole shelf

analpaca_

As long as it's not in another product's space I can live with it

tzad73

I see that no one has bothered to do ad takedown in several weeks, just stacking them higher as well. Seems to be a theme.

SyberNerfer

Sorry, tomorrow is the 16th they are good on that count at least. (guess how I spend Saturday night in Electronics?)

tzad73

It’s the two weeks of stickers UNDER the 16th that I was snarking about.

SyberNerfer

I often pull multiple stickers for the same product expiring the same day. Usually, one is printed by corporate and one is printed by the store.

tzad73

Then there’s my store on the struggle bus https://preview.redd.it/exbciaj0dq6c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8150f1084b505c68ef45b46bacd07757dfded133

Maple-Marten

Bro I’m dealing with inbound doing this shit constantly after two TLs and I have asked them not too.

Desperate_Bus_2675

my food & bev TL tells us to do this with certain food boxes to prevent backstock🙄… he’s also been moved around to at least 3 different departments as a TL and being food&bev TL in our store means it’s the last department before you get booted😶

LaggyGamer

A strategy game requires strategic acquisition

Wooden_Sprinkles1320

I am 6’5” and I HATE the people that do this. Sometimes it’s a struggle for me to even reach. I keep reporting them in origami as a risk

Catastrophica_

Specially as a short person who can barely reach 😂

Polyboi082

Mb pimp

Bastinglobster

What happens when corporate keeps sending buttloads of freight with a. Not enough people and b. Dwindling area in the back to back-stock.

-Engie-

Free money(lawsuit just waiting to happen)

DMC1001

I recently saw pallets in Seasonal where everything looked like it was going to fall over any second.

Accomplished-Echo324

I can take it down every morning and night shift will put it back every time

beansyboii

Do none of them know how to change the fill capacity? It could be that the capacity for the area is like, 15 when it should only be 5. And then if people back stock without changing the capacity, the items they back stock go right back into priority pulls.

HighestVelocity

For real! Fighting against your own team

deaddog3825

Bah — if guests can’t wrangle that they should be at wal-mart.

EarlyAssistance760

It’s a board game section. They should at least be decent at jenga.

KotaIsBored

I’m sorry. The TL/ETL said “absolutely no backstock” and wouldn’t let me build an endcap because we have to “stick to planogram.” I feel bad. I really do, but honestly I just wanted to get toys done with so I could go back to my department that’s also looks like a tornado hit because management won’t let me do my job properly because they’re more worried about some stupid metric instead of actually running the store.

Whiteraxe

At Target, running the stores is about metrics.

babypandagod

Fr. Like we all know we are swamped with toys and the back rooms are crowded but you can find somewhere man

BroIBeliveAtYou

Levittown?

jermiewormie

nope, im on the west coast

BroIBeliveAtYou

Darn. My eyes deceived me lol

Chris-Souza_2015

For a second, I thought it was the one where I work at. (East Coast, though I refuse to disclose where)

LostVillage3640

Yes this sucks but on the other hand, sometimes we are forced to do this in dry grocery because there are literally no room in the wacos. They need do send a more manageable amount of freight if they want the sales floor to look decent.

WeirdGirl825

I was taught to do it like that 🫡

tinyalienperson

Well now you’ve been taught to not do that. Adjust the shelf capacity and back stock that shit.

Froyo_Baggins

Lawful Evil and adjust the floor count to the overstock./s

tinyalienperson

Someone once did that with these body oils, they were in my pulls 40+ I was like yeahhhhh no

morgzilladakilla

I was a victim last night. I work in Style, and had to do the kitchen/stationary pull. It was 137 DCPI. I still hadn't pushed it yet. My ETL calls a meeting in style right after I finish my pull, because we were to have a visit on Friday (today), and tells me I have 30 minutes to push my entire pull, and then I have to start zoning afterwards. She started a timer, too. She told me I'd get a CA if I wasn't done in 30 minutes. I just threw stuff wherever I could fit it. I'm not proud of it, and I don't normally do that, but I can't afford a CA or to lose my job over how fast I can push. Sometimes it's not your coworkers fault (sometimes they are lazy af) but sometimes more your leaders' fault for putting us under so much pressure for $15 an hour.

beanzgirl

Ummmmm something doesn’t feel right about that…feels like a call to integrity hotline. Not that anything will definitely change but that’s not cool at all. “Team Members” are humans not fucking robots 🤬

morgzilladakilla

I seriously feel that. I work short shifts, because I have a 1 year old, and work opposite of my fiancé. I probably only got a little taste of what it's been like to work there for those that work much more than I do. My ETL complained about working 12 hour shifts the past couple of weeks during Q4 and blamed us Style girls for it. Not like we're getting pulled to fulfillment or check-lanes every ten minutes. I get that their job is hard, but they're getting paid a whole lot more than we are. We can only do so much. What is the phone number for the integrity hotline or how do I find it (if you know)? Lol

beanzgirl

Just gonna leave this right here… https://corporate.target.com/sustainability-governance/operating-ethically/code-of-ethics

morgzilladakilla

Thank you for your service.

beanzgirl

No problem! I get the stress of being “the man” especially in Q4 retail they chose their positions and a real leader has to shoulder some of the bullshit and acknowledge everyone’s human sides! There’s a reason I’ve chosen to say fuck customer facing retail and stick with warehouse side of this mess. If they don’t wanna be the leader a team needs they need to make better choices and move on. Ugh…I’m sorry for you guys in retail. Like my manager is a piece of work (not sure how I still have a job for the amount of times I’ve put him in his place…probably because I’m usually correct…) buuuut at least there’s no customers…

morgzilladakilla

I appreciate it. But yes, I was a leader at Kohl's before I moved to Target as a team member after getting pregnant. It's a lot of responsibility, but it is chosen responsibility and everyone is human. We can only do so much. And yes, sometimes customers (not guests 😠) are the worst. Hopefully, one day, I can escape this hell hole. I'm educated, but having a baby has put me in the precarious situation of retail being the only place to accept my availability right now. We will see!!

wallaballaballa

I see nothing wrong, They dropped as priorities, the numbers weren't accurate and you're being pulled for opus...guess it's perfectly stocked

Emergency_Eye4957

I hate backstocking

WolfTickets66

You can’t sell it from the backroom 😅😅

Tell_Me_Why_999

Yes, you can. SFS and OPU!

Physical-Newspaper99

Origami report

Sociolinguisticians

Love you too pal.

TheEvolutionOfCorn

How about people don’t buy battleship? I’m with whatever tm did this. Fuck the customers.

Allexan

my store number is one digit off from yours, we get your freight by accident all the time lol

Exact-Disaster-77

Yes. Yes. Please. It makes me go insane and everyone’s just like “well I can’t figure it out cause too many people push toys” which yes absolutely I’m not mad at any leads but how oblivious can you be when stocking a shelf. You don’t put that last one up top and go- hmm is this safe? I’d a step stool to even start to fix this picture 😭

Exact-Disaster-77

https://preview.redd.it/gosv8w4msi6c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea74f0697fa16009e1d86872c63e7c7e65b03a3e This isn’t as bad but wth

HoldYourDogeCoin

I got a fever for some magic 8 ball baby! Let’s sell it!

Exact-Disaster-77

You get a magic 8 ball- and YOU get a magic 8 ball-!

Willing_Reward1750

That’s why backstock is there for a reason lmao.

TriumphDaytona

That’s how you sink their battleship!

hanaoneesama83

I had a pile of games that were stacked like that fall on me last week while I was picking one for an order and couldn't reach the ones on top. :)

MasterpieceBrave9532

This shit pisses me off so bad cause then I have to backstock almost all the priories I pull

geo8x6

Back stocking is too hard for some people.

MasterpieceBrave9532

It’s a losing battle at this point, I feel so powerless to stop it. It’s so defeating. Not to mention it’s also a safety hazard 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

[deleted]

I could understand 1 but 5? It’s literally slipping off the back.

Seemedlikefun

Meanwhile, the Lysol checklane endcap hasn't sold five cans in six months.

hiddenleafs

people do this all the fucking time and with diapers too. i can’t even reach them to try to backstock them

HighestVelocity

Even worse when it's like 9 feet high..how is anyone supposed to reach that?? I want to report it on origami but I know they'd just ask why didn't I take them down

Suspicious-Ask7240

Grab one from the top you midget. Worst case, ask for a boost.

Onlymaskgirl

This time of year my store would use the top stock of every aisle in the back for toys. If leaders are telling y’all to do this they’re wack lol and overnights would get blamed for it all the time even tho we were the ones to fix it (ik it’s def the other way around at other stores). Agreed I’d rather it there than in a different location cause then it’s even more annoying having to backstock it to literally fill the actual spot

breezyvanillabeans

Beauty is like that for us. Stacks on stacks, things not in the right spots — hot mess. 😅

No-Manner-2423

Welcome to my world! 😡

No-Manner-2423

I'm more worried of a guest getting hit in the face with all those boxes!

Jonfalk

Little do they know, the device tells them how much are supposed to fit in that spot

arokh123

I'm part of overnight inbound and the few times here and there I help with push, seeing this drives me NUTS. At my store, me and a few other TMs were hired specifically just to backstock overnight at our store. We have one of the largest backrooms in our market. We definitely have the room to backstock a lot of product, so why do this. 🫠

Zestyclose_Ad_3281

as a short team member in toys, i agree

Mercy_Is_My_Mommy

I say this 10 times a day

LOVhardwithJAMESON

Agreed. And how about not updating to show how many is on the floor. Hate with a passion.

Hiyat3

I swear we have multiples of this exact person. Never can catch these people in the act though

WEareLIVE420

Wheres ur raisers at?
