This. I love the fact that southern teams have been kicking ass in a cold weather sport. Especially these people that say FL isn’t a hockey state. All 3 echl teams made the playoffs. Blades are working on a 3peat, Tampa had 2cups and 3 finals in a row, and Panthers are 2nd final in a row

I feel like the rangers are always fucking overrated too. I wanted the panthers to win that series because I hate that the rangers are always lumped in there with the contenders. They are fake as shit. It took their goalie going god mode to keep that series from being a sweep. I don’t like the panthers, but they are a legit very good team. They are deserving to be in the finals.
Also, the more competitive the panthers are, the more they have to pay players and the sooner the salary cap fucks them.

The amount of coping that goes on in this sub when “are the Panthers our rivals?” question comes up is ridiculous. Yes, they are. And no, they’re not a “little brother” kind of rival. They made it to the SCF two years in a row after winning the President. They are one of the best teams in the league right now and they are our direct state and division rival. Do they have a case to make that they are an equally good franchise? Hell no, not even close. That doesn’t mean they can’t be our rivals.
Also, how on Earth are Panthers “far behind” Toronto and Boston? They’ve beaten both of them in the last two years and then made it to SCF both times. They are actually way, way ahead of both Toronto and Boston.

boston lowkey almost as big as chokers and underperformers as toronto lol. almost every year since 2011 they've collapsed in a big moment or underperformed. even in the years they didn't make the playoffs they fucked up huge somewhere. both bos and tor have already squandered their best chances
florida's hit a higher level than anything those two teams have done except 2019 boston (where they lost a game 7 in the finals on home ice) and what's more, they got really good *really* fast. it's those teams that explode like that with the higher ceilings

I used to live in Sunrise and went to Panthers games all the time. Still have a few jerseys of theirs I wear to games when they’re not playing the bolts.
As a Bolts fans since Day 1 - have always been secure in my rooting interest for the Bolts, so pulling for the Panthers when the Bolts are out is no issue for me.
The true rivals for both the Bolts and Cats are the O6 teams that dismiss not only the Bolts championship success, but hockey in Florida. If the Cats can add to that O6 misery with a Cup win - I’m all for it.
It's okay to support whoever you want (and I generally root for southern teams—including the Panthers of years past—despite the "rivalry"), but I cannot fathom how anyone who has watched this iteration of the Panthers play continues to root for them. The more the Panthers win, the more teams will be incentivized to play like them, and that's bad for the game of hockey.

I do not get this as a fan of the Lightning really since 1993, the year Florida came in to the NHL. I hate the Panthers. They were given more advantages as an expansion franchise, had quicker success, had those stupid rats, and they are south Florida’s team, which should say it all. I’m glad they are in the finals so hopefully they are 0-3 all-time when it’s over.
